As far as I know this is normal not because of the covid case because even the EPL will still run boxing day matches which obviously have a lot of matches there that have been postponed before but there is no change to the normal schedule. Regarding Salernitana, the news says they need a new owner and if they don't get him then Salernitana will be forced out of Serie A to Serie B. But considering his performance so far, I think Salernitana will certainly be relegated, but regarding the problems faced, Salernitana will be relegated sooner and not wait until the end of the season.
If this happens does that mean there are only 19 teams in Serie A and all teams remaining have 1 less game? It seems to be extremely unfair but then again the rules is the rules. Just I find it strange it happens like this when surely there was many months to prepare for it.

~
That's my personal question too because I also just found out about the case and the existence of a rule like this, I understand it may have been an agreed rule but it doesn't feel like something good. But even so if I'm not mistaken, Salernitana is still given a deadline until the end of the month or the end of this year, but considering that time is getting closer I personally am not sure Salernitana will get a new ownership. Therefore, I will only look forward to the continuation of this case as well and hope for the best.

not an expert, but I think that it is pretty regular thing for Serie A to have new year break
they had two rounds last week, probably to skip this weekend, due to Christmas, and now they have two week gap

Sounds like a good idea if you ask me. We all get breaks (well I do not but that is sort of my job but I get triple or more pay in holidays) why not footballers right?

All leagues in the world have break for winter holidays. It usually lasts about 2 weeks.

Only exceptions are Premier League and couple of leagues from countries that don't celebrate Christmas.

I never knew this,,, I mean even here Christmas is not really celebrated except as a company or corporate or Western tradition that we picked up but I thought England celebrates Christmas. I guess maybe over there football is part of holiday tradition.

Oh yes,,, I also just realized now there is a long break in Italy, is this normal for the league or just because of Covid?

It is really very difficult now to make arrangements for all the football I wonder if we will see another postponement, and I am sure some teams would really like the break, especially Salertina now who must find a buyer. Crisis time!

Napoli game is a perfect example of bad luck and just not your day. Did anybody watch the game? I did not but from the stats and reports it seems Napoli was destroying them and the ball just did not want to enter the goal. This is first time ever that club managed to win without single strike on goal in Serie A Smiley

haven't watch Napoli, but yeah, statistics seems to be in their favour top to bottom, bad luck - although they have a bad strike now

Jesus holy moly. There are some games playing right now, I just got an alert. A bit awkward and I did want to watch Lazio as they're on my ticket but still need to work. Next week will be tough too, but get your picks in people, if you haven't already. I see loads of old picks from games moved over to this week so some old picks might need to change.
I was too late to make picks for yesterday's early games.I simply had no idea that midweek games can be played so early day. So yeah, probably it would be best to make picks for upcoming week now. Bussy Christmas period with many games played and lot of postponed or rescheduled games makes things a bit messy.
Though, as I see, Serie A goes into 2 week break and next game will be played just on 6th January if nothing will change. So, all attention goes to EPL, unfortunately, 2 Boxing Day games already got postponed.

So, a night when Atalanta killed my bets was followed by a night of Napoli making me smile and shake my head. In fact I even just went for Napoli double chance just to boost what I thought was a sure thing on other accas (didn't matter though, so at least there's that) but they couldn't even score.

Didn't watch Napoli but I watched Atalanta and it was same, Zapata was a terror until he got injured and got subbed, but you can't say they weren't threatening all night (I didn't watch second half though) and Genoa were simply outmatched in creativity.

Sassuolo is a shit team for me
I did not take them seriously last season, and they were near the top, and now when I am trying to put them better, they play like shit

Napoli surprised me, obviously they cannot keep with schedule, to many games for them in small time-window, and they are going down, step by step
Sassuolo has brought me a lot of money with both to score market so I like them. Too be fair they screwed for a nice ticket this time around. Only game I missed, can't belive they were not able to score one goal.

I was just trying to follow people and bookmaker odds,,, but something tells me we should be opting less and less for Sassuolo in this season moving forward. The important thing in this pool seems to be about picking out the draws Smiley

Italian league as morvillz7z describes is truly mind boggling!
Corruption can happen in any other league as things can happen behind closed doors without the organizing body knowing of their occurrences.
I heard of some teams having the same owners on a sports chat yesterday while watching the utter embarrassing match of Atalanta (this one match decimated many parlays on there I might add) but did not take much heed to what was being said.
Being strucked out of a major league like this is something that won't be easily forgotten.
Atalanta and Napoli are in trouble in this league I think. Yes they play very good attractive football. I actually saw some clips from Champions League though and the Italians look like they do not know what they are doing against the really big clubs. Of course I hope Inter does some damage to Liverpool but they were even just so lucky to progress.

Sassuolo are 2 goals down again, and will have to come back from behind this week as they've done for 2 weeks, If they are to get any thing from this fixture.

I already put in my picks for the remainder of this year as at last week, I'll only review and change them If I have a different opinion as the commence.

I was reading about this Udinese Salertina and I just read also that the newly promoted club is going to be kicked out of Serie A in one week time because the same owner cannot have 2 clubs in the top division. So can someone tell me how is it possible Lazio owner did not prepare for this while his team was for many years in Serie B?

Udinese is postponed tonight

I don't think it's been postponed, Udine is likely to be given a 3-0 win. We can actually see their starting 11 on Twitter even though there won't be a match. I mean, it's been about a year after the Juve-Napoli controversy, and i just don't understand why is it so hard for Serie A to simply postpone the match like they would do almost everywhere else...mind boggling!

Lega Serie A will not postpone  Udinese-Salernitana : the match, scheduled at 18.30, will not be played anyway since the Campania region has been banned by the ASL, but the decision taken from via Rossellini - for what we learn in this moment - is not to proceed with the postponement of the match. At this point, Udinese will have to appear on the pitch, as well as the referee team, to wait for the canonical 45 minutes before ascertaining that the match has not been played. At that point, the ball will pass to the Sports Judge: in the strict term of regulation, the grenade should be awarded 3-0 at the table but, considering the precedents, it is very likely that in the first instance he will leave the verdict at least sub judice for further investigations.

There are no postponed matches like in serie A league, even salertina who was supposed to play the match against udinese yesterday was declared WO loser by management Serie A, salertina who currently has several players infected with covid has received quarantine orders by the italian health authorities and of course they can't come to the field and Serie A management also stated that they lost  WO from udinese, because the number of Salertina players affected by covid is not enough to be a condition for implementing the covid health protocol in the Italian league.

should be an easy round, there is no derby, even the pool match is between Roma and Sampdoria, which tells you everything
Napoli and Milan had a tough few matches, and from what seemed as their race, now Inter is on top with few wins in a row, looking forward to see Dzeko as title holder

Not such a great night for me but so who else didn't expect Roma to win and win big? Don't even mind losing my prediction on this, too bad I'd skipped a bet on Roma, I saw the goal Tammy Abraham scored and yeah, nothing special you can say but that's what Chelsea's missing out now (and they had one shot on goal the whole day at Molineux). And yes, they have a lot of missing players but when you still have Pulisic, Ziyech, Mount, and plenty of offensives on bench, you wonder where their killing touch is.

And as if to top it off, Fiorentina only escaped with a point, so Roma's situation doesn't look so bad right now.

Then we get tonight, some so-so results, and Napoli leading Milan... I'm turning in to sleep, hope to wake up with a surprise home win.

Man, this league is fun.

you are doing great if you are not familiar with the league
I was familiar with Serie A last decade, but since Juventus was in Serie B, I stopped following it and did not quite return and probably would not

my favorite team is close to be relegated, and that could be the end point, especially now when I tend to spend more time on Jupiler and Ere divisie, due to Sorare game, and Turkey is also in now, which makes it more complicated

Yeah, I'm trying not to get ahead of myself but with about 40% of the season gone, this "strategy" definitely seems to work not just in the league I'm familiar with but in all the leagues I'm participating in... Serie A, La Liga and EPL. Of course, one can only say with some certainty at the end of the season, but when I look back on past performance using my personal betting strategy, I've been far, far, far away from the pack at the top.

The Serie A I grew up with was knowing AC Milan, and that's thanks to their rivalry with Liverpool in the early 2000s. Both giants fell away in the decade after that. Funny about football cycles, huh.
