I'm pretty sure that it was a new address/es which were set up for the April BitLotto as ppl were sending some coins to it after the last lotto was closed on 2013 03 01 & meant to have paid out by about a week or so later. See my post here re over 8 btc having been sent to this new one/s by 2013 04 02, I didn't though record the address/es though goat should have it as he entered early for that month too. Also you can see that no more bets were sent to any of the old 1st March draw addresses after 2013 02 28.

It appears the BitLotto.com site is no longer online, which is good since there were still people happening across it (and sending new wagers, not knowing it was not paying out).
I was going to make an update to the archive of the site that I've maintained on github so that all Bitcoin addresses used were available later if needed. Does anyone remember if the Bitcoin address after BitLotto turned to scam mode was still from the last lottery (that Goat had won), or was it a new address?

You don't need any human work. A script can process all transactions and generate the winners. You would be able to run on a 99.5% EV and still be profitable - just run the script as normal on your computer.
Of course, there is actually writing the script, but if you're a programmer it just takes a hour of your time?

Yes. Getting it working is the hard part. But, I'm guessing there would still be human intervention at the time of the draw or at the time of determining the winners. I don't want the computer just automatically making a game, wait until the deadline, do the script for the winner, send the winnings, then start another game ... There is the danger of the software or the platform or the server getting hacked, and the private key getting stolen.
Actually, now that I think about it, I could just do the work part once a week, when I end one game, and start another. I've managed to make a spreadsheet compute SHA-256, but I'm still figuring out how to get everything from the blockchain and make a script or software do it all.
Anyway, my lotto has one player already. hehehehe... I have no idea who it is since he or she isn't posting in my thread. If you want a 50% chance of getting his 0.01 BTC, go play. hehehe.

Makes sense. Maybe I should change my personal model from percentage to donations instead? Or make it lower for me? I'd need enough to keep a web site up and running. I just thought, if some guy with 99% couldn't make it work, and another game was taking 80%, would people really mind that they're only getting 95%?
Maybe when we get the volume of SD, then I could make it 98% or 99%.

The draw for me (no pun intended) was that this could operate really inexpensively. Since the blockchain was used for wagers, there was really very little overhead. So a lottery that was provably fair and had 99% payout was for the first time ever, possible.
No there is really little noticeable difference between 99% payout and 98% payout. So you get with SatoshiDICE the same potential payout (e.g., 1 in 500 chance of winning but a ~500X return on your wager) with only a slightly lower vig.
So there's really less need for a BitLotto to exist anymore. The dopamine hit from SatoshiDICE comes sooner than the weekly lotto.

It is hosted at the same IP address as BitLotto.com. They also are registered with privacy protection. And it was another service that, if successful, would receive payment and then hold large amounts of funds until eventual payout. Which is an interesting coincidence.

The pot was on a general decline trend due to the new faster/better competition & his ever shoddier late handling of the monthly pay outs, I doubt that BL was a sell-able proposition at all, expect that he realized this & saw last month as being the likely highest pot that he could steal going forward, also his personal life is probably f-cked which means things will crash whenever.
I'll post my reply to his sell offer just for public interest, to see if he followed up on that at all after I declined.
