I've sold out of R1's, and as promised, I am releasing my customized firmware to the community. Please note that although I refer to this package as custom firmware, it is really just a patch file. If you reset your R1 to factory defaults, you will lose the customizations. In which case, you would just need to re-apply the patch.

Changelog for release 0.95:
- Opened up port 4029 for API access to cgminer-u3 instance
- Max frequency for U3 increased to 250M
- Max fequency for R1 increased to 250M (I have not personally tested freq past 125. Use at your own risk!)


Firmware Enhancements
- U3 zombie handling(Scripted auto-cgminer restarts and R1 reboot if necessary)
- Supports modifying R1 pools from UI, without losing the ability to use Bitmain's solo pool for R1.
- Detailed R1 stats page, including pool statistics
- Supports modifying R1 freq and voltage from UI
- U3 freq selection increased to 250M
- Cgminer-U3 API open for monitoring with 3rd party tools

Upgrade instructions
To upgrade your firmware, go to "Backup / Flash Firmware" under the "System" tab
- Click on the "Chose File" button to the right of "Restore Backup:" (NOTE: Do not mistake this with the "Chose File" button under Flash new firmware. - This is not a full binary firmware file)
- Choose "R1CGCustomFW_0.95_2015-12-28.tar.gz" from your PC and then click on the "Upload archive" button.

Your antrouter system will reboot and come back up with updated firmware!

Update to 0.95 complete, thank you!  Too bad my U3 died, as much as I've hated them I may have to find another just to keep using the R1 as a U3 controller...

If you do your life is very easy with Crazy Guy's firmware.  I bought it from him so have had it for month's.  And it's been month's since I have touched it.

If there is a problem like zombie it reboots.  Even memory leak someone reported is not a issue as it seems to reboot before that ever effects me.   With 3 U3's there it is so much easier with automation vs how I was rebooting multiple times a day myself.

if you released the source code for the ANT driver i can build it in ONE cgminer and have it run both the ANT and the Compac/U3

ive made a script to restart cgminer when this happens so its not sitting idle.. but still.

I highly suggest anyone controlling a U3 from a R1 to use this custom firmware.  It being able to reset on zombie is amazing.

This device has OpenWrt support in trunk @ r48058  'Designated Driver'

Code for cgminer still seems to be unavailable at this time.

it will eventually cause a crash with the r1.

unfortunately without the source code for the antrouter driver it cant be updated.

The Patch is for trunk or 'DD' DESIGNATED DRIVER Bleeding Edge

Once it is accepted in OpenWrt trunk I'll backport it to 'stable' or CC 15.05

It depends on how you do the flash....
you can do it from the bootloader or use sysupgrade -c -F


In any case...you should have a working serial console !!!

My first R1 with crazyguy mod had to be reset. Now I lost his wonderful mod. You are right that setting R1 to the default solo pool is not fun. I would rather take the 6 gh and add it to the attached compac. Oh the other thing is the compac doesn't work now without crazyguy mod. How to get it back since I paid for it.

My second R1 has a broken plug that when plugged in shortsout. No word from crazyguy yet however has anyone taken their R1 apart and can you show me the plug connection. This one has a working mod still intact can I copy what to port over to the good one?

I'm not sure on his policy on giving that file out.  But you are right he is one to contact.    In perfect world you select it during shipment and it's shipped to you with it on it.

He has always been a great guy on selling so I have a feeling he will take care of you. He really does seem to care about his customers.

Had an interesting but accidental experiment with my overvolted overclocked R1.



The connection to the fan Controller was loose and the fan stopped. I had noticed that cgminer had been restarting every few minutes but did not know why. So it would appear that when the chip overheats it stops hashing, chip cools down and then restarts on it's own. Good news was that it seems to have suffered no ill effects.  Smiley

no idea, you try to hard reset it? hold the reset down for about 5 seconds.

Ok ill admit i might have been a bit unfair since i don't have one, and after stepping back and taking a wider look i was a bit harsh. so let me regret my rash comment and try to rephrase.  I think the mining controller isn't useful because There are a lot of miners out there.  Now i cant blame them for encouraging their own products, but it seems unwise to not include wider range of support, even if it's just the U1 and 2.  I also find advertising it locked in solo mode (from what i have seen) a bad move because for a product that is (i'm assuming) marketed towards people just starting, and many of them might not be willing to configure it.  It seems some people seem to want a device that can be plunged in and left, which doesn't exist yet.  Although, most of these issues can be fixed with research and tinkering, and pose no problem to a more experienced miner.  As for the unfinished features, i have to give them props for trying to fit as much as they can, like more companies should.  But it seems that some of these things ,like the mining controller could have been improved from a bit more work.  This miner might work for other people, but for me it wouldn't be worth it.  I enjoy tinkering with my miners, and ill keep trying to find a reason to water cool them, even if it's just for the coolness factor.  I find this worth the pocket change i lose a year.  But i have no idea what i'm talking about, i'm just some guy messing around trying to put water blocks on things that already run cold.  

The thing is if you do pool.. not solo its so small you will never recoop cost.  Solo is meant to be fun even though getting ROI still is almost 0.  But pool mining is just a waste on these machines.

Also if you use firmare like crazyguy's it's not locked.  You can change it to anything you want.   I think this is a case of if you had one and used it... you might have a better grasp.  I don't mean that in a mean way just that it's hard to judge a product only on words.
