What is up with everyone in this thread acting like ETH is the only mineable coin?  There are a shitload of other algos out there.  Unless you are using old AMD cards, mining ETH hasn't been the most profitable coin to mine in almost a year.  Blows my mind how people act like the sky is falling and its the end of mining because Bitmain is releasing an "ASIC" that is underpowered and overpriced and not even available for 3 months.

What is up with you and your head in the clouds not realizing that ETH is the main source of income of GPUs both directly and indirectly. Yes, its not the most profitable coin to mine but its what FARMS mine for a steady source of income. If ETH tanks all those mining farms will eat up your little GPU rigs and nothing will be profitable. You are a little fish who is lost in a big sea of miners.

There are other coins that are at any given time as profitable or more profitable than ETH. I stopped mining ETH a long time ago. The writing has been on the wall that ETH mining is over for a long time between threats of Asics and Proof of Stake forks being threatened for a long time.  Shocked

What he is telling you is that the Farms will turn to mine your now profitable coins, hashrate will explode and profit will be peanuts.

So its not that there are other profitable coins out there, of course there are, its that if ETH rigs move to other coins then those coins profit will fall drastically.

Maybe so, but that is mining. Plus there are lots of other coins and I don't see the hashrate all moving to one coin. There are enough to spread the hashrate among the other coins. Plus a lot of miners will just sell their rigs and get out of mining, reducing the overall hashrate on all coins.

for real 😳 who are these newbies that have no idea how bad the gpu mining buisness was before ether ,ether saved gpu mining
it absolutely blows my mind HOW MANY PEOPLE do not understand the severity of this situation from the POV of a GPU Miner let alone bitmain ruling crypto / centralization and so forth

Also I heard you never receive merits, so here's a merit my friend lol Cheesy

I would buy if it didnt take so damn long to ship....

old used-models for sale! (while bitmain mines away with the best equipment..)

 Angry Angry Angry

Same if not too long to ship....

maybe bitmain is buying cheap gpu on... let say 2015 and make that e3 junk from that shit... voila. profit. Grin

At this cost the e3 must be using cheaper slower memory. Which means bitmain is using the newer faster vram on the f3. Id wait, maybe halong have something in development for ethash.

There is no F3, The E3 is what people thought the F3 would be.  Cry

Honestly this is not a very impressive miner especially with a possible Hard Fork. I personally hope Bitmain chokes on all of them!  Shocked

Anyone else think that these boxes aren't asics? With the size / power consumption i'm willing to bet these things are rocking sophon cores. If that is the case, hard fork all you want, it just takes a cgminer update for these to come back online.

It may. There are Chinese made non-branded video cards around, so its probably not difficult to make a custom design like this around 6 standard GPUs like 1070. But could it made to sell at this price with memory?

Bitcoin FTW!
The first batch of the E3 seems to be back in stock on Bitmain's shop site if you're still interested in buying one of these machines. Shipping date and price still remains the same as before.

Don't forget if you're buying one of these that noise will likely be comparable to an S9/D3 or any recent Bitmain miner. They're industrial miners for a reason, these things aren't made to be low noise. Nothing regarding specs outside of hashrate and power consumption has been released yet, but I find it unlikely these will be anything near quiet given the design and Bitmain's past fan choices.

And whats the best is bitmain is making a shit load of money ask yourself this why do they want you to prepay months in advance so you can pay to build a asic for them to make money with for months than just as the difficulty sky rockets and profits go down they ship you your brand new (USED) miner

This is just the beggining then, more and more efficient miners will kill GPU.

Kidding? The coin communities are starting to hate bitmain. I'd expect most coins to continually switch up algos.

It's cheap but the power efficiency is everything long term and better for density. Electrical infrastructure is a bottleneck.  My rx 470s and 1070s outperform this substantially. Plus this is terrible for home mining if it sounds anything like my S9s. A GPU is made to be quiet. It is also nice that if I ever want to resell my cards I can get a little money. I can see how this can seem like a good idea but my Bitmain stuff needs constant attention. My GPU stuff I sometimes forget about because of the stability and ability to stay cleaner. I haven't bought GPU in over a year but I remember seeing mining specific cards in bulk for 200 each. Rx 470s. Prices are relatively close.
more like 800$ per card??

lol

 Huh
