What is the standard hashrate for an S9 batch 3? 12,93TH or 11,85TH?

Thinking of buying I used one, but need to be sure of the facts. (just to slam the owner, he says its 14TH+)

Pretty sure it's 11.85

It was a 12.93, good luck running it at that all mine are down clocked to 11.85 way to hot and had hash board problems. after the down clock they've run great.

I tried updating my B3 S9 with this firmware (the latest matching one for my unit):

Antminer-S9-201607131442-12.92T-600M-security.tar.gz

Unfortunately it has not come back after rebooting.

Note that I did this remotely because the unit is in a data center. I can power cycle it via the PDU, but I'm a bit scared to do that given all the warnings about not losing power while upgrading.

I guess I'll wait 10 minutes, pray, then power cycle it. Crap...

Well that was weird. It *did* boot after all, but it came up with a different IP address.

I'm using DHCP to assign a static address via MAC address. The MAC address changed after the firmware update.

WTF?

Anyway, I'm glad I checked the firewall for new dynamic DHCP addresses. Saved me a trip to colo.

Yeah, my MAC address changed on my S9 after flashing it to try to bring back a dead board. (The only flashing of any antminer I've tried.)

The MAC address is a hardware address and shouldn't be effected by modifying software/firmware. I've never heard of such a thing. Even the first few characters of the address, which are used to identify a manufacturer were changed. If any changes were to occur, you'd expect it to be at the end of the address with the first characters remaining the same. I guess like most things biteme does it's back-asswards.

Oh, and the dead board is still dead.
Very high quality piece of hardware these machines. /sarcasm off
Yeah...take a look at /etc/init.d/network.sh if you want to see why that is...note that the script is not the same across firmware versions and on some versions makes use of openssl random.

ANTMINER S9-B10  price is fixed USD price
ANTMINER S9-B11 price is fixed BTC price

No logic to me.

EDIT.
Now Bitmain fixed this.
Only USD fix price 1400USD ja 1550 USD

Those prices are stupid. After all this waiting I think I'm going to invest my 6 grand in something else. Such a disappointment...

Agreed that the prices are too high.  It also looks like they are pushing people to buy the lower hashrate unit for whatever reason.  The lower hashrate one is 4.8Th/BTC while the higher hashrate one is 4Th/BTC.  That's a large difference in terms of which is more economical.

EDIT: I guess I should say though that I prefer the prices being too high to being too low.  The price drop on the S7's was faster than the earnings from mining so that later buyers were rewarded for not buying earlier.  I am actually glad to not see that happening with the S9's so far.

Yes, that's why I am now rewarding myself by NOT buying S9 earlier and maybe later as well.
It feels good so far.
Comparing S9 (11.85 Th) to S7, S9 is worth maybe $1000 or even less ($900) with 4% difficulty increment.

I know for a fact that some people brick their S9 with the update. If you have a batch one, you can connect two machine on the same controller tho. (If you have some long IO cables)

How to connect  6 cable to the four slot ?

Mine for a Bit
.....

Anyone out there using S9s successfully with zpool?

I just attempted to with one of my S9's it didn't work for me.

you probably have to use a proxy.

this is what i use
https://github.com/Stratehm/stratum-proxy

Shortened as so long but I just tried zpool and am having no issues mining direct to it.  Will test for 30 minutess or so and post a screenshot but right now it seems to work just a tad slower my batch one is getting: 13,797.82 but have only ran for 3 minutes.

So looking promising as far as running it.  Is zpool really paying that well?

With stratehm it is noticeably more stable for S7 and S9, the S9 is significantly better than the S7 and I have never had my batch 3 lock up. The servers are not tremendously stable so expect to get 0.0002-0.0003 lower payout than what is listed by way of failovers, but you'll still get some good profitability.

Seems to be same results after 30 minute's.  No issues mining direct from a batch 1 S9.  Site is possibly slow though as in 30 minutes it show's hashrate much slower on zpool site.  Guess will see in a while if it catches up hopefully.:

I did lose a little hash compared to a normal pool (I've tested many on it).  Has anyone used this pool much is it really paying out so good consistently?

You'll find my miners there when profitability  is doing well (>.0018), no complaints all around. You'll sometimes find profitability will get mis-reported a bit due to the exchanges they use, but it's never too bad.

For those of you who have gotten your S9s to work with stratehm and/or zpool, did you update your firmware?

I'm running a stock batch 3 without any firmware update. I tried deploying the stratehm proxy, but the S9 doesn't submit any shares to it. I posted about it in the stratehm thread here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15925543

I'm trying to decide if it's worth updating the firmware and trying again. I tend to avoid firmware updates unless I really have to.

I have 10 S9s (B1, B3 and B5s).  I only updated the firmware on the 2 that were underperforming with the firmware for "low voltage."  The other ones

@Bitmain,

Take your shitty S9 and shove it back up your arse!

Only fools buy S9 at such inflated price. Stop buying their crappy miners, S9 design is junk, 20% arrived dead, Bitmain warranty is a joke.

Boycott Bitmain!

It will be available after the scheduled time.

What is the "scheduled" time now then - & how long after? It's been a month since the last "scheduled" time frame passed.

Speaking of dates - what about this Bitmain??

S9's firmware package with bmminer's binary application file is in preparing, Need get some files from ALTERA FPGA's project. We will upload the sdk of S9 which can be used to create S9's firmware package. The estimation time is about next week.

Please feel free to contact us if there is any question.

Best regards,
Andy
Bitmain
I got a response back from their support department, looks like they should be uploading the S9 firmware SDK next week.
Too late.
They've exceeded the license requirements.

I have this tid bit of information about what they have done.
http://kano.is/BMMMP63278.pdf

I guess the fact that they have ignored a patent isn't unexpected ... though personally I'm certainly not a fan of patents Tongue
