I tried updating my B3 S9 with this firmware (the latest matching one for my unit):
Antminer-S9-201607131442-12.92T-600M-security.tar.gz
Unfortunately it has not come back after rebooting.
Note that I did this remotely because the unit is in a data center. I can power cycle it via the PDU, but I'm a bit scared to do that given all the warnings about not losing power while upgrading.
I guess I'll wait 10 minutes, pray, then power cycle it. Crap...
Well that was weird. It *did* boot after all, but it came up with a different IP address.
I'm using DHCP to assign a static address via MAC address. The MAC address changed after the firmware update.
WTF?
Anyway, I'm glad I checked the firewall for new dynamic DHCP addresses. Saved me a trip to colo.
Yeah, my MAC address changed on my S9 after flashing it to try to bring back a dead board. (The only flashing of any antminer I've tried.)
The MAC address is a hardware address and shouldn't be effected by modifying software/firmware. I've never heard of such a thing. Even the first few characters of the address, which are used to identify a manufacturer were changed. If any changes were to occur, you'd expect it to be at the end of the address with the first characters remaining the same. I guess like most things biteme does it's back-asswards.
Oh, and the dead board is still dead.
Very high quality piece of hardware these machines. /sarcasm off
