Only idiots are buying, so it's a good way to designate idiots from the rest. At those prices they aren't selling much, so it won't murder the diff. Except if it does murder the diff it's because they're self-mining on the most profitable farm on the planet.

What a disappointment. I'm not even tempted to buy at these prices.

Bitmain, there's lots of us waiting for your prices to make sense. Hurry up and find a reasonable price point.

To everyone else, stop paying these outrageous prices. Seriously. You're only enabling Bitmain to keep gouging.

They are not selling a ton of them.  I actually like this pricing and hope they do not budge much at all.

I think this is their best move keep the prices sky fucking high and slowly fill their hash nest with s-9's.

I would love to see batch 12 in august still be over 1700 usd.

lol you like the pricing becuase why ? they are selling hardware that may never ROI whats not to like haha

But but but... it's LIMITED EDISHIN, collectible almost, you'll have the honor of being among the million of other suckers who fell for that.

The good news is that whoever bought Batch 2 (or was it 3?) for under 3 BTC can now sell it for a nice ROI, considering that they mined perhaps half a coin by now.

Batch2 and Batch3 was the same, only difference in price . B3 was 100 USD more as B2

The same miner 12.93 TH/s is also B7 (3,20 BTC) and B9 with price 3.05 BTC

You also have to ascribe an accurate decisional weight to the warranty from Bitmain. It's pretty much understood that they'll do as much as they can to deny all warranty claims, and if you read the not-so-fine print basically any feasible issue is not covered under the warranty. I would not consider a Bitmain warranty as a factor in any risk assessment. The few problems they will actually work with you on, once you factor in hassle, arguments, shipping to China and the associated revenue loss of extended downtime, it'd be cheaper to solve the problem with parts off eBay or something. If you happen to have a hashboard that fails without burning something (and therefore voiding warranty) might be a bit tricky, but what are the odds of that?

exactly what i had last week.

Left for work all 3 boards of batch 1 working fine. come home 1 board dead. tried everything to bring it back to life. nothing worked. no visible burn marks or hot spots. board was just dead. 180 in shipping later, off to warranty it goes.

Like with every other good on the world, price will change with demand. High demand -> high price. Low demand -> low price.

Due to the fact, that the S9 is the only efficient miner available to the public, Bitmain can set whatever price they want. No reason to blame them for that.

You could always GPU mine which has a (currently) much better ROI than a S9. How people don't see this baffles me.

There are also philosophical reasons to not GPU mine despite the potential for profits.

Because they're retarded???

According to some members on the forum, don't blame the greedy manufacturer, just blame the noobs and ignorants.

Your prices are retarded.

Their prices are not retarded ! The people who buy them are retarded !
If the retarded ones would have not bought them at their ridiculous prices, they would have driven the prices down for sure !
But why would they let the price down if there are plenty of RETARDED that buy them ? Would you do that if you were them ? NO

Well, they could have made more sense...
I was OK when they had 60% of btc mining profits in S1 while I had 40%
I was OK when they had 80% in S3 and I had 20%
same S5 more or less
I was even OK when they had 100% profits in S7 and I had none

however, i am not OK for bitmain to have more than 100% mining profits where all miners together using their equipment to have losses.
Sorry, not playing this game!

Your prices are retarded.

you could use a better (less insensitive) descriptive of their prices, or should we all go back to name calling on your community?

Why would they do something that they have not done on the last three devices they have released?  They NEVER mine at the advertised hashrate.

 Last 3?
Most S5's mined at or better than at advertised hashrate.
Ditto the S5+ as I recall.
S7.... well, iffy on the early batches.

Last *2* have been an issue....

I figured him for a troll and/or jackass and have him ignored as well.

whatever you say shithack ,ah Missouri go get stuck in a tornado lol lol.

I have been pretty slammed at my "day job", and haven't had much of a chance to participate lately. Thankfully it looks like I got back in time for more uplifting, and professional dialog with folks here......  Smiley

More to the point, the Bitmain S9 roll-out continues. Maybe they have gotten all the folks willing to pay $2000 for an S9, and want to find out who is willing to pay $1900+ for an S9?

Am I calculating this right for a single S9 miner....

$2075 for an S9

12.9TH hashrate using 1350W

Electric rate 13.111 cents per KWh in southeast Wisconsin

ROI for just the miner 365 days ( not including climate control electrical costs )

...
......
.........
............ If its a year til ROI, and it takes Bitmain LESS THAN a year to come out with a new model ( The time the S7 hit the market to the time the S9 was being sold was less than a year) ... individuals and farms will not be profitable at all .... the death of bitcoin mining it looks like... unless you have solar or renewable energy.

New machines won't be coming out for another 2 years.  There will be no more than 20% improvement on efficiency on the current machines.  You have time to profit.

That doesn't mean they can't optimise the 16nm process somewhat. Bitmain put out, what, two? 28nm chips that each improved on the previous process. I'm sure we will see a chip revision with new hardware coming out sometime... how soon is the real question

But first, Bitmain has to fix the current S9's in production to bring them up to the advertised speed of 14+TH. Although, I have a funny feeling that Bitmain is cherry picking the 14+TH machines for their own farm and the sub-standard machines that failed quality control that have 11TH, 12TH etc... are simply sold as "Special Editions"

Why would they do something that they have not done on the last three devices they have released?  They NEVER mine at the advertised hashrate.
