Why should  diff  rise after the halving ?
I think that many of the miners turned off,  if the BTC  price stays the same or decreases.

Same thoughts here! Many old running S3 + S5 are going to be shut-down after the halving and the diff will stay or decrease a little for some time. Hopefully the bitcoin price keeps on rising instead!

However, as people begin replacing S7's with S9's, those S7's will be sold to people turning off S3/S5...

That I have found to be a good thing for miners.  It allows me with my regular electricity to sell my previous gen gear, and hopefully add some extra ROI.  Then upgrade to the latest miner.

But I think it is great how there is a market for used gear.   Also on a lot of sites it seems Bitmain/Antminer get a lot of searches on secondary sales which again is good for selling your old gear.

Buying a S9 is obviously a gamble.

In for a penny, in for a pound ?

Nice Specs, Congratulations Bitmain. I don't think it will reach ROI at this price.
Like others, I will just wait until halving, and then reconsider.

after the halving, the price of this unit will be around $ 1000

i agree with you, just wait and then reconsider, but even with a price of $1000 i am not sure it will roi after halving.
You are right. We will see.

Pretty similar, yet still worse. You will literally hit the halving just as you start mining with these. Then the diff will skyrocket and make it even more pointless.

Why should  diff  rise after the halving ?
I think that many of the miners turned off,  if the BTC  price stays the same or decreases.

Bitmain mining with  this (S9 blades) type miners already long ago.
Patch1 sales not affect difficulty very much. This is a small amount of very expensive and highly effective miners for home users.

What is important ,  what happens to with the all old miners. Turned off or still mining .
I think it turned out the majority of S3 and S5 and very cheaply sold a lot S7 in the whole world.

Do Bitmain will sell S7 upgrade KIT? This is the big question.
S9 Dimensions: 350mm(L)*135mm(W)*158mm(H)
S7 Dimensions: 301mm(L)*123mm(W)*155mm(H)
As shown, the S9 is longer

So I think , no upgrade KIT for S7

I saw the price, and then i laughed.
Remembers me the days Bitmain announces the S7...deja vu? Nine months from now you can buy them for less than 500$.

You'll get it just in time for the halving, and then you'll be lucky to make 300$ per month with it. 1 Year ROI? No thanks.

The situation is quite similar to that we experienced september 2015  when S7 arrived, (halving perspective excluded).

I 'm curious to know if a lot of people who pay their electricity >= $ 0.1 / KWh won something with their S7 ?

Yes. I bought many of my S7 with USD .  With VAT 2100-2300 USD

I sold BTC at 475 EURO last month. Do Batch1/3/5 machine earned a profit of 4.5 BTC after electricity ?  Yes.

I bought my 5x S9 with BTC because I think that the BTC price will fall after halving or before.
S9 miner owners do not need a high BTC price, they require low Bitcoin Difficulty: and Network Hashrate.

To compensate for this I bought  5x S9 with USD from friend's account.

When I put them to work I have to sell my S7, because I have no more power.

so this does happen and it is late in China  but  I hope they fix this sooner rather then later.

This happened to me.  I paid within 7 minutes of my order.  It showed expired for about 3 hours.  During that time I flamed them with emails and support tickets.  They did not respond to any of those, but I did get a "Paid" email confirmation about 6 hours later.  21:00 GMT.

As of now, I still have a paid order that has been marked as expired for over 12 hours. I am surprised they haven't fixed it during their claimed office hours of 9am-6pm Beijing time.

Guys I have some questions, halving comes for about 40 days. Is that mean, that if we say that difficult not going up and If I earn currently 500 usd monthly, earnings will be 250 usd after halving? Or that is not exact situation? I ask this because when LTC halved earnings wasn't halved, they reduced for about 25%...

Yes. The earning will be $250 after the halving. I also think the difficulty will keep on rising after the halving due to the new S9.

It really depends on what you think will happen and nobody knows until afterwards.  I thought difficulty would decrease or at least stabilized after halving since rewards would be halved and people would start to shut miners down.  But if more efficient miners come out it looks like difficulty will continue to push up.

To mod: sorry I know this goes in the speculation forum.

The s9 seems over priced. To put this into perspective, let us compare S7 with S9. let say the aim is 14TH
1 S9 = $2100
1 Power Supply (from Bitmain) = $140
Shipping to the US (Fedex) = $75
Total = $2315

To get the same hash rate with S7, we need 3 S7s, 4.73 x 3 = 14.2TH
3 S7s = $1320 ($420 each)
3 power supplies = $420 ($140 each)
Shipping to the US = $140
Total = $1880

The difference is $435. If you think the space and efficiency worth the difference, go ahead and buy it. If not, (let say, you have a very cheap electricity, and plenty of space), S7 is a better option. If you ask me, I would say don't buy any of them. just wait until halving, the price will be more reasonable, and you can evaluate your investment better!

I think they understand the pricing pretty well here.  The price of electricity has been established around $60/month.  Considering 2 less minor this bring the price to 3~4 months.  Everything is set for a ROI of around 3~4 months from now.  But one thing is for certain, once these things get out into the public we can expect to see difficultly to start increasing by 20% again.  Angry I was really hoping with halving people were going to start turning their miners off and difficulty would stabilize, but it looks like technology will continue to push difficulty up even after halving.
