I'm still baffled on how AM predictions for power consumption are so low using 40nm process node. PFM.  Grin

Proof will be in the pudding. Till then its just wishful thinking.

Can performance improvements be had in a revised hashing algorithm?

i read somewhere that because Russia bans bitcoin, metabank cannot produce bitfury? Is it true?

And that has to do with Black Arrow... how?

It means our miners will survive a bit longer if true. Lets be honest, BA cannot compete with the efficiency of a nextgen bitfury considering it barely competes with a current gen bitfury (0.7w vs 0.8w/gh)

If I bought a Black Arrow Prospero X-3, assuming the difficulty is 10Billion in May, how long could I remain profitable if it ran 24/7? (Energy Cost: .09USD/kWh)
ROI is relative to the currency you used to pay for the miner. It will take a lot longer to get A positive ROI if you paid in BTC compared to USD as the BTC/USD it generally expected to rise. coinwarz.com has useful calculators, I tend to work on $USD/day figures.

Hey, i have contacted alll the support and waiting to resolve my ticket from 3 weeks :/
it concern my 2nd order,  your support on skype has helped me the first time and processed my order, and i have passed another order for and with the same details

ASICminer has 40nm coming, but we have no idea of hashrate & cost per miner....as of yet.I'm watching though  Wink

They look to be about .65-.80 watts per GH,MAYBE.so if they come up with a 250GH miner using 200 watts,it'll be a great thing!!! Watch for em!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wink

Asicminer chips will be 0.2-0.35w/gh and $1-0.5/gh

About twice the efficiency and half the price of anyone else.

Win win.  Wink

Bitmain uses 55nm. Process size is not as important as optimization. Bitmain/Bitfury 55nm are both more efficient than knc 28nm. KNC 20nm will be less efficient than Asicminer 40nm.

IS bitfury producing and selling something now? Except those unefficient USBs...?

Nighty Night Don't Let The Trolls Bite Nom Nom Nom

Edit: looks like the inefficient is due to overclocking. An antminer is 1w/gh at 80gh.

but that would involve more chips to achieve 180GH, costs are kept down by clocking the chips to the max performance.

Yea but the fact is they can achieve the same gh/w ratio on 55nm chips. Bitmain can always keep lowering the price but they wont be able to compete with knc 20nm or asicminer 40nm. Unfortunately neither will BA.

But we have a long time before efficiency plays a critical role so it might be better to go with a cheap miner like Blackarrow/Bitmine rather than an efficient one.

True.

I look at it as a Loooong game now and always want to have power efficient miners. I mine at home and am limited on how much power i can pull. At present i am running the following

KnC - 790GH - 820W
KnC - 790GH - 820W
KnC - 510GH - 560W
KnC - 680GH - 750W
total - 2770GH - 2950w + 4 x 80 for fans and controllers
for the same power consumption i could only have about 1300GH worth of antminers

it's like avalon chips(mass produced, rushed to market) the chips themselves just are not that great(clocked tot eh max), but the costs in china are cheap.

ASICMiner is the company that made the Block Erupter USB, Block Erupter Blades, and the Block Erupter Cubes.  They are working on a 40nm chip now for their next generation miners (which I hope will finally support Stratum directly).
40nm is already on the market on AntMiners.. I thought next gen chips are 28nm ?!
BleackArrow also promise since long time ago to come with 28nm chips but all these
may come too late when the difficulty will increase too much !!

Bitmain/Bitfury 55nm are both more efficient than knc 28nm. KNC 20nm will be less efficient than Asicminer 40nm.

What a load of bull.

I have a 2 jupiters giving me 790GH for 820watts to power the boards, more like 900w with all the extra fans and control board.

That is much more power efficient than Bitmains 180GH for 380w.

Bitfury, yes they are power efficient.

You are right about Bitmains devices. They claim 0.68w/gh at chip level compared to bitfury 0.8w/gh. Not sure why antminers are so power hungry but they are dirt cheap.

Edit: looks like the inefficient is due to overclocking. An antminer is 1w/gh at 80gh.

Hi, I'm new to bitcoin mining. I am starting with a small budget and thinking about beginning with an X1 from minersource.net. I am wondering if BlackArrow and minersource (authorized reseller) are legitimate.

You're probably better off buying an AntMiner S1 and getting delivery right away. Minersource carries those and posted a pic a few days ago of pallets full of them. The X-1 delivery won't happen until May -- if you decide to go that route I wouldn't prepay at this point -- wait and make your decision then depending on difficulty, etc.

To your point, I think other than one prolific poster here, people tend to feel bobsag3 is legit. He's been in business quite a while and does hosting and sales. The guy disparaging him here hasn't turned up any disgruntled customers, just a steady stream of minutia.

Thanks. The problem with an AntMiner is that it's $900. I'm on around a $200-$400 budget. Any other good miners or should I wait and see about the X1?

I don't think Piggyback is even tradeable. It's just a five year mining contract. I use 'em, they do pay out on time. It's a cheap way in for low volume is all. As a major investment, it's twice the cost of an antminer if you extrapolate the cost per GH out. But if you've only got a small amount and want to mine, it's a way in.
