i placed an order on 1-1-2014 for an X1 on minersource.net and after payment confirmation it said "## Delivery Date This is a PRE-ORDER, now on Round 2 Batch 1"

I just went and had a look a few min ago at my order and now it say "## Delivery Date This is a PRE-ORDER, now on Batch 2 Round 1"

WTF? Have I just been shafted?

I did a screen cap of the original back on 1-1-2014.

What's the significance of  Round 2 Batch 1  vs  Batch 2 Round 1?

Okay, same thing happened to me. Saying I am a little disappointed is an understatement. I would have considered differently had I know my orders were being placed into batch 2 when I ordered.

I could be wrong, but I think the site just lists the current description for the item. I'd ask the bobsag, but I think if you ordered before the cutoff of 1/2 you should be on round 1.

I agree with this.  I had noticed this on my orders as well, orders that were in early December.  They all have the same description of the current item in the store.  I didnt think much of it since that is what I thought was happening.

Not sure what you guys are looking at or where. I just checked my order at the old minersource and looks the same as it always did. No mention of delivery date, batch or round anywhere. That info only appeared on the order page when placing the order not on the finale invoice.

Order #64x Contained the Following Items:

This is on the new site - if I log in and look at my order under "Item" it says:

Black Arrow Prospero X-1 (100Gh/s)
## Delivery Date This is a PRE-ORDER, now on Batch 2 Round 1, all further orders are available...

I'm pretty sure the table there is just pulling the item description from the regular item page because, well, why wouldn't it?

This is an order from december 26 (putting xmas money to good use  Tongue ) so I'm pretty sure it's part of Batch 1 round 2, and the batch 2 notation in the description is just a quirk of the site.

If you're concerned about it I'm sure bobsag can clear it up if you PM or email him, but I wouldn't be worried.

Why is all the ASIC info gone? links to datasheet or the page to buy the ASIC are gone.

Because things break sometimes. In this case the datasheet is an index.txt file. I'm going to look into it to get that back up. I'm not sure why the ASIC itself is down. I'll look into an answer for that too.

You must be talking about the BA site? The data sheet is still there just click on "show all" in the news section. The option to buy Asics only is likely gone because there are none left to sell until the next batch or they just decided not to sell them in that way.

Or maybe they're ready to start rolling out the next generation Minion? Smiley Probably not, but one could hope.

The case with plenty of small holes proved at Butterfly Labs to be noisy and ineffective. People achieved great temperature and noise reduction after changing the original fan plates to standard ones made of thick wire:

Silent one (left) and noisy one (right):

If the X-1 is to be silent (like advertised), the case openings should be changed a bit.

It might also be a good idea to get a dust cover for the wire one no?

On 1/3/2014 BA posted on their site a news article that said:

Quote
Batch 1 closed

Batch 1 has been closed.

All orders paid from 1st of January will be dispatched around 1st of May 2014.
https://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/index.php?dispatch=news.list

That was posted 2 days after the cutoff date so it's kind of not fair. If it were me I would warn people in advance of cutoff dates even if only a few days in advance, rather than being retrospective. However I ordered from miniersource.net not BA, and their site clearly said batch 1 at the time, so that was the offer.

I agree, I have always found the wire fan grills to work the best. Not as easy as just making lots of little holes in the case, but way more functional.

The noise comes from the increased air velocity and turbulence though the little holes as the airflow tries to keep up with the fans cfm. with all the extra resistance of the grill, which of course it doesn't succeed.

X-1 renders are up at BA site

Anyone know if this still includes a built in lcd display? I don't see it in the 3d rendering.
What, are you expecting crude lines of text to be able to recognize an LCD in 2014? I think the logo looks more appropriate.

Oh is the logo the lcd display? Honestly thought it was just a logo but if it is the display it looks good to me.

Looks good, that's a different kind of case. I like it, more holes than a Jalapeno, though they are only 32watt and the X1 is and estimated 55watt so it will need more air holes.

Cool! 120mm or 140mm fan size? We can easily change to high performance fan for some minimal overclocking! Sweet!  Grin
Fan size wont be an issue, just like the jalapeno, the swept area of the fan is way larger than the area of the cooling vents.

Matt, do you still expect to start shipping 24th?
Absolutely. Everything is coming together nicely.

Since you are giving such excellent answers I might as well keep going  Cheesy
Is there any chance at all you might be able to ship earlier? Would you do it if you had the machines ready?

Looks similar, but that fan only has 2 "flat" sides, the one in the rendering has 4. That said, its just a rendering and you can probably buy similar fans in any size you want.

What Dimension do we talk about here ?? How big/smal is this fan ??

20cmx20cm ?? 30cmx30cm ?? Biger ??

Just by looking at those Pictures it's hard to tell what the dimensions are from that case.

Im guessing that is a 140mm fan, if for no other reason than Ive never seen a fan of that shape in other sizes.
Again, design looks quite sleek and sensible. Its nice of BA to use as big (and therefore silent) fan as possible, even though Im sure it would cost more than a noisy, higher rpm 80mm fan.

Looks like a Antec Big Boy 20cm fan http://store.antec.com/Product/cooling-cooling_fan/big-boy-200/0-761345-75200-8.aspx
