Thanks for all the comments in this thread, as usual, I have to lock this after 24 hours of the fight.

As most of you are hoping, Gonzalez vs Estrada is the fight that we all wanted to see so there is still hope that the fight can be made this year. And congrats to those who won their bet on this fight.

Gonzales throws more punches and landed. He isnt just playing the numbers game.

Amazing how hard Matinez chin after getting batted several times. Either that or Gonzales' strenght is just too soft for Martinez. While I like watching this kind of fght, it be more impressive to see main event having an obvious champ standing and the other KOed.

Mexicans do possesses good chin so I'm not surprised that Martinez was able to take all that Gonzalez throws on him. What surprises me is how Gonzalez can maintain that volume punching all throughout the fight, full 12 rounds and I think they can still go at it for the next rounds. But it the end it was obvious that Gonzalez is the better fighter, sure Martinez can take his punch but he is not scoring on the judges eye.

What a play from Gonzalez, he showed a good fight by his experiences. Seems Martinez is mad and play with emotion, he throw many punch to Gonzalez but most of them missed. Gonzalez have really good technical and patient to beat this unrespectful kid. However good job for Martinez can survived for 12 rounds and not getting pressured, he want to counter attack but he's not wisely enough.

What a masterclass performance by Chocolalito, seems like Martinez was the older fighter of the two  Smiley.

Martinez lost his legs going into the tenth round he just wants to finish the fight while Gonzalez just keeps moving forward, there's no hint of old age on Gonzales, not the fight that we expected we all thought it was going to be a close fight but it's not, the match against Estrada is still on and we'll wait for the announcement of that fight because in the first place it's the fight we expect.

I think it was due to the early attacks of Gonzalez in the body, in like rounds 1-3.
It really took a toll on Martinez as there was no more legs in the championship round. And of course, the experience of Gonzalez help him as well. He just took the rounds early and try to test Martinez chin and body and then they go toe to toe and he can take Martinez left hook.

Gonzales showed the young opponent how good he is and how his experience help him to be a better boxer. Gonzales may be the older fighter but he is not old at 34 years old, I'm pretty sure there's are still more fights coming for him, and maybe we will again see a fight with Juan Francisco Estrada to avenge his defeat.

Analyst are saying that he is old as per boxing age because he has a lot of wars already, and it could wear him down as he continues to fight. But as what we witnessed, his young opponent is no match for him as he is the aggressive one and even though Martinez has power in both hands, Gonzalez was able to fend it out and he bring the fight to Martinez, engaging him for the whole 12 rounds and have a wide unanimous decision from the judges. Let's see Juan Estrada's response, if he can get healthy and recovered from his bout of Covid, the fight can be made before the end of the year.

It never wear him down because Martinez is not hitting him with his power shots, Gonzalez was too clever and too skillful in handling the fight, his boxing skills is way better than Martinez and as we can see on the scorecards and their faces after the fight, it's pretty obvious who dominated the fight.

Martinez made several counter-attacks before entering the 10th round but that all changed when Gonzalez took the lead with a hard punch to the face. I don't see the age difference in this match, but Gonzalez took the lead from all rounds with heavy blows to the face and body for an absolute win. Congratulations to Gonzalez.

There are so many talks about Gonzales age before the fight he's been in this business for so many years he is one of the inspirations that age is just a number as long as you have it you can still fight just like Donaire, I think he is still good for 2 to 3 fights he already created his own legacy, I hope the Estrada fight will be his next, he will be the heavy favorite when the fight happens because of what he has shown on this fight.

Correct, I didn't see any signs of Gonzalez showing his age in this fight, on the contrary, he looks very young and just like a prime Gonzalez, more motivation to win and become a champion again.

Yup, definitely, the camp of Estrada has seen this fight and would like their boy to fight him next and finish what they have started. It will be a mega-fight and with this performance, I will put Gonzalez the slight favorite before the fight.

Wow, I forgot about this fight, so it seems that Martinez is really no match for Gonzalez and for sure with this win, the trilogy fight with Estrada is still on. Hopefully Estrada can recover from the effects of Covid so that him and Gonzalez can settle their final fight. I may have to look for YT videos in order to watch some highlights of the fight.

Though he lost, we should also thank Martinez for taking the fight even on short notice and that may be the reason why he didn't get the required weight because he don't have the luxury of time to train.

The trilogy must go on and with the pandemic almost over i think everything will be back to normal and Estrada already have recovered by that time of all the effects of covid on his body so no alibi if Gonzales would beat him.

Cogratulations @bisdak40  on that win, that was a pretty odds. Martinez had a strong chin but Gonzalez was really dominating him in the fight, his boxing skills are killing Gonzales but is not backing down, overall it's a great fight and better more because you also win.

Chocolatito Drops Bombs on Julio Cesar Martinez in Masterclass Decision Win

SAN DIEGO – Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez isn’t even close to being done at the top level.

A world class performance in a career filled with many saw Nicaragua’s Gonzalez dominate Julio Cesar Martinez en route to a twelve-round, unanimous decision victory Saturday evening at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. Scores were 118-110, 117-111, 116-112 in favor of Gonzalez, the former four-division champion and one-time pound king who is eager to return to the championship picture after a masterclass performance in the DAZN main event.

Martinez is really arrogant, Gonzalez need to teach him a lesson for not disrespecting his opponent. I don't know why Martinez being like that, while in bookie he's a underdog... which many people doesn't expect him winning this fight. Gonzalez can fight last for 12 rounds and have good defensive style, he's not like common opponents that can easily got KO'ed. I think bet on Gonzalez via KO is a good move.

And it seems that Gonzalez is not relax in the face-off? He used to be very cool in this kind of situation specially high caliber fights, maybe he will want to end this fight early and looking for the Estrada trilogy.

Of course, it could be that Martinez wanted to bring his power to this weight class but not making the weight against a legendary fighter like Gonzalez, yeah that is disrespectful. So there is no belt in line since Martinez is way above the limit. Nevertheless it's a shit belt in my opinion, the real holder is still Estrada.

Did just he intentionally missed the weight to take advantage?

This guy has been campaigning below the desired weight for this class isn't it? So I don't understand the logic of him and his team to move up in weight and this missed it by more than 10%? Hmmm, something is not right is this fight. And this is some disrespect on their fight to come above the weight limit but the good thing is that he is paying it base on their contracts.

Chocolatito Gonzalez vs Julio Cesar Martinez update: Martinez misses weight, fight depends on Saturday morning weigh-in

Can't believe how Martinez missed the weight as I think this would be an easy task for him as he is campaigning for the 112lbs division for a long time. He is on a risk of being KOed here if the team decide to drain him, let's see in a few hours how they will handle this one.
