And so far there are no swing bets yet so the odds remain 1.85 for both.

Perhaps it's too early, but what surprises me is that sport bookies has open up the line as early as January and the fight is like 2 months from now.

Maybe as we get to the fight date itself there could be slight odds and we might see Estrada be the favourite in this fight.

But I'm not going to be surprised because he has won the second fight.

I'm still going to wait for other odds yet, it will be juicier than the ML odds although it is very good already. Nevertheless, as gamblers, we will go and look for a better odds.

Estrada might be the slight favorite, but Gonzalez will fight like a madman here because he wanted to get back the respect and honor. It was a big fight for his country and when he lose, it was a big letdown for them. So for sure, he will come back and avenge his lost to Estrada.

Whereas, some immediate fights are not yet listed on sportsbooks. Maybe, the match has good following from boxing fans. However, another replacement scenario here owed to covid. I guess, we should always prepare ourselves for this kind of last minute change in line-up because we are still in this pandemic era. As Martinez is going up to this division, it is understandable that he is the underdog on this fight. But the fire burning in him will be his weapon inside the ring. Can a boxer with 6 yrs experience as pro beat those 16 yrs of Chocolatito?

I'm curious on the betting odds and check if it is still the same but surprised to see that on my online bookies, Roman Gonzales have a new opponent and it is Julio Cesar Martinez.

After some research, i did know that Martinez is just replacing Estrada because the latter was tested positive for Covid and have to shut down their training camp, damn covid hehe.

Gonzales 1.61, Martinez 2.18, not bad at all.

@Baofeng, maybe you can change the title of this thread bro.

We will see, but I have to agree that Estrada might pull off as a slight favorite on the strength of the result of the rubber match. And looking as most comments here, they are on the Estrada's bandwagon for now. Unless Chocolatito shows up and bring back the time and give Estrada a good fight that will last the full 12 rounds and might steal the trilogy and get the score 2-1 in their grudge match.

Still some time for Gonzalez to train very hard for this trilogy. I still think he can pull and win here but maybe his biggest opponent right now is father time. He has been in so many wars including the two fights he had with Estrada so only time can tell if he can give us 100% in this fight or he really is out and way past his prime year in fighting. And he is just after the money before he retires.

That's one thing that we need to look at Chocolatito in the early rounds. If we see that he can't pull the trigger and somewhat hesitant to fight then obviously he is no longer the same fighter. But if he continues to bang Estrada then maybe he still have some in his tank.

Checking on the odds, there is still no movement, the same odds: 50/50.

Looking from their previous fight, first it's ended Unanimous Decision for Gonzalez, the second it's ended Split Decision for Estrada... for me Gonzalez have higher chance to win on the third fight. Even it's true the recent Estrada record are better than Gonzalez since Gonzalez lose more than Estrada, but the second fight was close. I'm expecting Gonzales win by Split Decision.

Their last fight was incredible. I thought that this type of fight had already become extinct due to the new currents of modern boxing in which they care more about defending themselves than attacking. These 2 left it all in the ring and gave us what is definitely the best fight in years. Here the real winner was public for witnessing such a magnificent fight.

And the good thing is that after the second fight, Estrada promises Gonzalez a 3rd fight and this is what we are going to see in March.

So you will have to commend Estrada's intention that even they are rivals, there are so much respect outside of the ring and both are gentlemen willing to give everything in their fight but at the end of the day, they are going to shake hands.

He respects his opponent and he trusts himself that he will win. That's real sportsmanship, they are both willing to give each other a chance to win and I hope that kind of value will remain in the sports of boxing, so everyone will have a chance to fight again even if they lose in the 1st fight. I'm happy with the betting odds too, looks like bookies also have some respect with both fighters.

Right, and if you look at the odds, bookies are also in the middle, undecided because it's really hard to give someone an edge with the two fights are really close in my eyes, although judges might see the fight like in the second where they give the edge to Estrada (unanimous win).

If there will be some swing in the odds, it might be small. And I'm sure this could be one of the most anticipated fight this early 2022.

It is a pity when great fights have to go to a decision and in this case the decision of the previous fight was very controversial. Gonzalez defeated Estrada by a unanimous decision in their previous bout.  Roll Eyes

It was not a unanimous decision, according to the site https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/467843, it was a split decision by Estrada but it was not controversial for me as I believe that Estrada was the better fighter at that time.

The judges get it right, the fight was dominated by Gonzalez early but Estrada rally in the second half to pull a unanimous decision. And for me, he is going to be the better fighter in the 3rd fight. As Gonzalez is already hitting a wall in his career and this could be his last fight. He no longer possesses the speed and the power during his prime and Estrada is the younger of the two so he has all the advantage and the tools to beat Gonzalez again.

Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez fought the best in every weight class he's stepped in and won. So with a 50-2 track record... he surely have the support for the next fight. (My bets will go to Estrada, because he has something to prove)  Cheesy

Ok, so another fight that we all have been waiting for. As confirmed by Eddie Hearn, there will be a third match between these 2 great super flyweights. This year, it was a classic back and forth war, but Estrada edging Chocolatito by split decision. So now it's 1-1. They will have to settle in the upcoming trilogy as to who is the best.

https://www.boxingscene.com/juan-francisco-estrada-vs-roman-chocolatito-gonzalez-trilogy-slated-oct-16-usa--158783

At this point I can't make up my mind, I wanted to see Chocolatito win by Estrada's volume punching can sway the judge in his favour in close rounds.

@bisdak40 - bro, what's you call on this? I know that you are a big fan of Chocolatito, hehehe

This will be a tough fight between the two. Their previous fights has been thrilling and controversial because of the split victory decision recently by the judges over the recent match which was won by Estrada. Hopefully though the decision of the judges in their upcoming match on March will not be swayed by the fans of Estrada because if I'm not mistaken their game will be held in South California wherein will be dominated by Estrada's fans. Although definitely Chocolatito's fans would also be present to support their idol, still the presence of the former would be more massive than the latter. I just hope it would be a fair and square fight. If I would be asked, I think the fight would be more of Chocolatito just like the previous matches wherein it was evident he is on the winning edge. So, let's just wait and see I guess. Hopefully it would be more aggressive and entertaining to watch.

^^ Ok that is good news for boxing fans and as we all know that two fights are really classic and as you have said, it's 1-1 and this third fight will settle the score.

And as per sportsbet.io, the odds are the following:

Estrada - 1.85
Gonzalez - 1.85

Interesting that the odds is 50/50 as well.

This is one of the fights that i'm waiting for. Yes, for me it is exciting to watch and betting wise, you can get value of your money even if you only bet on the moneyline.

Though i'm a fan of Roman Gonzales but seeing him performed against Estrada last time, i don't think he would win unless something happens or Gonzales would hurt Estrada somewhere in the middle rounds.

This is just my observation, seems to me that Gonzales is on the down hill of his career while Estrada is peaking.

I know that you are a big fan of Chocolatito but we have seen that he is really getting old and the wear and tear is really showing in second fight. Hopefully though he is well rested so that we can still see another fight of the year contender as we all know the rivalry between the two.

But with that said, I will go with Estrada again, maybe by decision and end this trilogy and close the book and maybe after the lost, Gonzales might return for good.

But there is an argument about boxing being a business now, that's why most of the time fighters avoid each other until the time is ripe to face when there is huge money in the table.

But not this fight though, it seems that there is some personal matters between the two (in a good way), and to settle the score inside the ring and not in the social media wherein some boxers are doing. This two is as old school boxers are you get. Fierce competitor, but outside can be friends.

Right, as much as we don't want to say this, but he seems to be way past his prime right now and we can clearly see it during the second fight. He is a volume puncher no doubt, but the punch output is not there anymore, I mean no power and that's why Estrada took the second half of the fight and eventually win the match. So it will be the same output in the 3rd fight. We might see some glimpse of old Gonzalez, but then Estrada will take his punches and then stroll for a victory.

This is just my observation, seems to me that Gonzales is on the down hill of his career while Estrada is peaking.

We never know, just take a look at the case of Donaire many thought he is in downhill after his loss to Inoue but he made a resurgence and he is a champion once again, we cannot count a heart of a champion out, they know what's at stake here and both fighters will fully prepare for this fight, we all love trilogies and this is one trilogy in the making that will get hype because of the first two fights.

I'm not sure but in most of the trilogy I watch, the winner in the 3rd fight is the one who won the 2nd fight. So this should be a win by Estrada if the trend will be the same here. I'm expecting a good fight, a toe-to-toe fight as they are both champions and want to hold the belt again.

If there's a poll my vote goes to Estrada, 100% sure.
