Final weigh-in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NThZi0BAR4

Initially Martinez didn't make the weight and the fight could have been jeopardize.

As per report, he was fine 20% of his purse for not making the weight limit for this class. But the fight will going to resume .

I have seen many fights where the substitute eventually win the bout, the lastest one I've known was Ugas, and over twenty years ago started his great career in Las Vegas because he was a substitute and take the fight on a 7 day's notice and that's Manny Pacquiao, Martinez can pull a big surprise in this fight, let's see what Martinez is going to bring in this fight against the old warrior Gonzalez.

This would be an awesome fight since Gonzalez saw the outcome of Manny Pacquiao vs Ugas's fight where he was beaten easily because he doesn't know how to counter him no matter what he does. This fight is tricky and Gonzales should act quickly if he sees something different because such a fight like this has already been prepared by the substitutes and He is pretty confident to turn the table and beat his thoughtless opponent.

Well, i'm also thinking of this substitution dellima as we have noticed that recently a substitute fighter won a fight like Ugas but knowing how important this fight to Roman Gonzales, i think he will treat Martinez as real threat and not a replacement fighter.

Roman Gonzales should win this one if he want to take his revenge on Estrada but i think knock-out Martinez is hard so i'll go for Gonzales via decision.

For those who are interested to hear and see the two fighters in their final press conference:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umG3hY9tBLE

Gonzalez is very happy and excited that the fight will push through and have a good replacement in Martinez because he is unpredictable. While Martinez will have a chance to break into this division with a fight against the legendary fighter.

Martinez who is Estrada substitute opponent, is likely to use this fight as a shortcut to further improve his career, even though he is still young, Martinez is a boxer who is quite talented and of course Gonzales cannot underestimate him.
I think this age gap fight will be an amazing fight and I think I will enjoy the fight.

Slowly bringing the level down and hopefully we will be able to see full capacities in any sports event that will be offered to the fans,

The fight is almost coming and it will be an opportunity for bettors to place a good amount of bets. Gonzales ML is decent if you

are fan of him. Not that huge far from the ML for Martinez, he gets bookies favor let see if what will be the outcome of this fight.
Absolutely! I believe that as soon as possible we will take a normal life in relation to COVID (of course it will not be like before the pandemic), but I believe that we will return to normality soon.

Yes, although I don't have knowledge about boxing, I find it interesting to watch these types of events, and maybe even gambling sometimes, at least for fun.

No trash talking needed here, Gonzalez in his old self here, it seems that he still has the same enthusiasm even though it is not Estrada that he is going to face, but still another durable and tough Mexican as replacement, what can you ask?

Gonzalez though is still the favorite and I think he can win again but Martinez will also bring his A game in this fight. So another war, and hopefully if Gonzalez win, he will just have to wait for Estrada to set up the trilogy.

Nothing will stop the trilogy anyway, as Gonzalez is expected to win this fight.
But for sure this will going to be an exciting match anyway, the very reason why the tickets they have refunded from the Estrada fight was being sold again after Martinez replaced him.
Martinez might not wanna keep himself open all the time as Roman also has speed and power, Martinez ain't that good at defending himself . This is one of the main reason why Gonzalez is heavily favoured in this fight.

Even countries are also easing their no entry policy, but I'm speculating that the "no vax, no entry" is in full effect.

So this will obviously the trend now, and boxing events that have been postponed like the Murata vs GGG might be rescheduled in Japan. There are news that it will like to happen in April. So for sure this fight will have a live gate attendance.

Gonzalez at 1.68 ML as compare to Martinez at 2.15. At least the odds are close.
Hmm, what good news! I believe that little by little we are going back to normal.
And regarding COVID-19 restrictions, it varies from country to country, as each of them has their own rules and laws.

Where I live things are normal (for now), we have several cases of COVID-19 and deaths too.
But this "wave" that we are having now, is not very significant at least in the country where I live.

Yes, hopefully in the next couple of months, with almost the majority being vac + booster the case of Covid-19 will go down and there wil be no new variants.

Same here, the alert levels has been put to the lowest level in years, kids are getting vaccinated, ease of travel. So I'm expecting that boxing and other sports that have crowds will be allowed just like before.

Ok, so another fight that we all have been waiting for. As confirmed by Eddie Hearn, there will be a third match between these 2 great super flyweights. This year, it was a classic back and forth war, but Estrada edging Chocolatito by split decision. So now it's 1-1. They will have to settle in the upcoming trilogy as to who is the best.

https://www.boxingscene.com/juan-francisco-estrada-vs-roman-chocolatito-gonzalez-trilogy-slated-oct-16-usa--158783

At this point I can't make up my mind, I wanted to see Chocolatito win by Estrada's volume punching can sway the judge in his favour in close rounds.

@bisdak40 - bro, what's you call on this? I know that you are a big fan of Chocolatito, hehehe
I have no idea who's gonna win this fight. But I think this will gonna be exciting and probably one of the best fight in 2022. I guess Gonzales will gonna win this fight since he have too much experience in this sport. I am not really sure but this is just my prediction. Well, goodluck for this two fighter. May the best and strongest man win..

Yes, it's already allowed. Although limited capacity.

What's more to the current status today where the pandemic is now closely being controlled and public events are now seeing coming back at several countries.

It will be on March 5, a few days from now, if I'm not mistaken.
Hmm, interesting... Thanks for answering my questions @goinmerry

I believe that this will be the trend, gradually things will return to normal and events (in general) will be able to work again at their full capacity!!

wow, is it true that in some countries they allow fights with the public? I imagined that everything would be stopped because of the pandemic.
Anyway, is there an exact date for the Gonzalez vs. Martines fight?
Even though I'm not a big boxing fan, I would love to see this fight!

Pandemic is one of the factors that affected the profitability of the fight, but as the crowd is already allowed to watch the boxing fight, the boxing entertainment industry will be able to recover and the opportunity to make a big bucks is going to be present again, timing is very important as of course no promoter would promote a fight if they will not make money from their investment.

We just have to live with it since there's no other choice. The good thing that will happen this year is, we have lots of lineup of good fights at any weight class. More bets, more entertainment, and we will see our favorite boxer now on the ring.

We hope for no more delays, cancellations,s, and suspensions this year.

The bout between Gonzalez vs Martines is one of the boxing events that need to push through.
In some countries, they allow the fight with the audience, but in other countries, that still does not allow the pandemic again with the new variant. But yes, I agree that boxing fights can recover and make money again like before, especially if they can get many promotions from the media. The boxing fight news between Gonzalez vs Martines should be everywhere to take attention from people so they will see that the boxing fight is trying to rise from the pandemic. And with many promotions for that fights, it will get that attention.

The thing is that Martinez is moving up in weight, so the question is, can he bring his power to this division? I highly doubt it so I'm not seeing him knocking out Gonzalez even if he is old and could be out of prime. Martinez just grab this fight because it's a perfect opportunity for him, but it could backfire if he losses this one. And if he losses the fight, what will happen to his unification fight with Sunny Edwards? Big gamble on his part for accepting it, but we will see.
I guess has you have said, the opportunity is there so why not grab it and see how it goes for him?
He seems to be too confident if he says he can knock out Gonzalez because no one has yet beaten him by knockout. So I don't think that Martinez has something specially in him that he can just do it to the great Gonzalez. On the contrary, he could be the one getting knock out here for all we know.

There are some circumstances where the replacement dominated the favorite one of this is the Ugas - Pacquiao, Ugas the replacement beat Pacquiao by unanimous decision, and everyone was caught by surprised, Gonzalez should not underestimate Martinez he still has time to adapt his strategy to Martinez style, if Gonzalez plays it right he can beat Martinez and we can have the trilogy in the future.

Yeah, but this circumstance are rare though, and in the Pacquiao vs Ugas fight, it was just weeks before the fight that Manny knows that Ugas will be the one fighting him, so he didn't adjust his training. But in this case, Estrada's replacement is known to Gonzalez so he has ample time to re-adjust his training and can shift it to Martinez style.

That wasn't his excuse when interviewed after the fight, the excuse was he got a foot cramp that's why he cannot move a lot and it was taken advantage of by Ugas. Well, maybe the sudden change of opponent could also be another factor that resulted in the loss of one fighter, but it's not really the main factor in the case of Pacman.
It could be, but I have a feeling that Pacquiao can't adapt to the style of Ugas early on their fight and that's why the cramps sets in.

Anyway, since we've seen a upset in the Ancajas fight, I was just thinking that it can happen to Estrada as well. The chances though are very slim because he has been in boxing for many years and have the experience to overcome if he has problems early with Martinez style here.

There are always a lot of options to sell the fight, if the audience is not allowed, they can be aggressive in their marketing in selling the PPV subscription. I'm sure the promoters will make money from this fight as it's a big fight, an entertaining one, so it will guarantee that the fans will not be bored watching it.

This fight was supposed to be the Gonzalez vs Estrada trilogy, but I believe this is still a good fight although Martinez is just a replacement.
