Hi Everyone - quick update on my progress,

jl777 and I have been working closely on integrating teleport functionality into BTCD core. I have nearly completed the work needed to integrate in all the upcoming features. As soon as James is finished with his work, we will have a Teleport-enabled BTCD core ready for testing!

The best part of this is, older nodes on the network will ignore all the new functions, so this will not even cause a hardfork  Smiley

If James is building the telepods, think of me as hard at work fitting the ships with the equipment allowing for those telepods to be smoothly locked into place.

We'll be beaming white bunnies around like crazy here pretty soon!  Grin

Thanks,
Matthew

Just signed up for beta testing. Can't wait to beam those bunnies (hopefully safely) Cheesy

ps. others should too

Please sign up!
We needs testers for teleport etc. so I made a sign up form for a testers group. When you sign up, jl777, PondSea or I will contact you when development goes into testing stage. When you sign up now you can always sign out any time, no obligation to participate in the testing.

is there a guide to setting up a privacy server?
privacyServer will be built into the wallet. So install wallet, you have a privacyServer at 127.0.0.1
However if at home it probably will only work for your node and also not be shielding your IP address, so I would call this personal level privacy
To get corporate level privacy you would need to install BitcoinDarkd on a server (VPS)

maybe there will be some tweaks to the config file needed to specify your public address and some things like that, but I want to make it so that if you can install BitcoinDarkd, you can install privacyServer, since they are going to be bundled together.

I may have missed it somewhere, what is the timetable for dividends? Monthly, Quarterly?
Depends on the amounts. I like the coinomat approach where you can see the numbers daily http://coinomat.com/globalstat.php
So I hope to have something similar where you can see your accumulated dividends. Now there is a txfee to withdraw so maybe we make it so that each user decides when he wants to receive it by paying the transfer fee.

I guess this would be on-demand dividends?

Anyway, we need to build up the network, activity, etc. so there are revenues to become dividends first
As soon as there are meaningful amounts of earnings, then I will prioritize getting a way for people to collect them
This is one of those housekeeping things that is not difficult, just takes a little time

I could be wrong, but thought it said dividends every Monday...

Not as fancy looking as the BlackCoin USB wallet card  http://pic.twitter.com/G9bpg4v40e but a damn sight cheaper and wireless.  Imagine a situation where you have both this http://techcrunch.com/2014/08/08/swivelcard/ BTCD branded with a wallet loaded and the debit card.  Your out of town AFK and have a few coins on the swivel but no funds on your BTCD debit card or in your coinomat account.  Simple solution: go to a cybercafe and transfer funds from the swivel to coinomat and then load up the debit card and spent to your hearts content.

Food for thought.  Smiley

I prefer the bcnext method of implementing errors into the code over the remote kill switch method.
How do you I wont do both Smiley
Also, BCNext did put in a remote kill switch, at least I think he did

Critics would say "The dev put in a backdoor", bad marketing. Better automate it ;-)
It just wont work properly for clones, in probably unpredictable ways. We need to put big red letter warnings so anyone thinking of cloning will have to go through the source code line by line to find and remove the BTCD dependency.

Of course, maybe this dependency is not solely in the source code, but only apparent when you combine the data set and even some network topology factors Smiley

I have some questions for jl777/dev team;

[snipped]

Seems to me there's no point reinventing the wheel. BTCD is integrating with the NXT blockchain which should allow it to do stuff like peer finance and voting, so why does BTCD have to redevelop those same features. Also, if a coin can do one thing (that people want) well, then that may be all it needs. This is ultimately about gaining real world adoption, not about adding stuff that altcoin investors might consider cool. If bitcoin users start using bitcoindark to teleport their funds, then that'll gain it a lot more adoption and value than adding feature after feature.
We dont know what is needed to crack the non-crypto market, but I know that I dont know what the magic application is. By making an "operating system" and making it as good as can be, then making sure we get as many devs making as many apps as possible (like AppStores) we can maximize the chance of mass market adoption.

I think we need to combine the above shotgun approach with a rifle approach and pick the big payoff target, which is corporate use of Bitcoin that is turned dark. Corporations dont use bitcoin since it is crazy to let competition know your finances in realtime. With teleport, that is not a risk anymore, so for the first time ever, there is a chance for corporations to adopt crypto. Also, let us no kid ourselves into thinking they will use BTCD. BTC is the only thing they will consider at first. In any case there isnt enough BTCD for corporate use, certainly not at our current marketcap.

So, we need someone to head up this corporate marketing/sales effort. It needs to be someone with experience selling to large corporations, maybe someone that already works in the finance dept of one of them?

James

P.S. also need someone to head up the AppStore initiative. Still in the formation stage as we dont have any framework for it yet, but we can maybe start defining some goals, required items, etc.

Is someone keeping track of those BTCD related todos? (I do partially.)  Something like trello?
I am very disorganized. Often I find some company is getting millions of VC funding, and for an idea I had a few years before
I post so hopefully none of the good ideas are forgotten

James,

1:1 BTC:BTCB valuation within 12-24 months is not unrealistic inho, from my simplistic view of things here.

I believe others here who know cryto coins better than I would agree. Our total coins out is way below BTC,
so market cap vs. BTC will, of course be WAY smaller than them. They, of course are the HORSE which draws us coins around(in the "cart"), right? NOBODY will ever unseat their #1 position. I don't care what anyone sez in that area.
What is good for BTC, is GREAT for us!! BTC actually seems to need us. But, that is a topic for another thread, which I am unwilling to make. Suffice to say it is a win/win for BOTH coins what you all are doing with this coin!!

In the spirit of Monty Python I would like to register a complaint Grin
well it's just about the Mac wallet problem I was reporting about earlier, that over 50% of the mined blocks were rejected. I tried using the windows wallet, also under mac but used parallels to run my windows on it, and I get significantly better results. so there is obviously something not right with the mac wallet. I wish this gets fixed.
if there is any additional info I can provide let me know!
I can confirm the Parallels on Mac gets fewer dropped blocks than the pure mac wallet. I only had one rejected block since I switched. this is big improvement.

Unfortunately, I am not GUI dev so I cant fix this. Maybe we can just recommend for Mac users to stake using Parallels, at least until it gets fixed

Just an idea here, but I DO believe it holds merit for consideration.
***(Independent verified audit: BTCD assets)

A few weeks ago Sync Foundations announced and Independent Lawfirm review. I am no legal eagle, but it sounded like a true independent audit. On PAGE 160 here James listed assets, then added more info on how complex this coin is getting to achieve the stated result(s). I propose we do the same thing with our coin. From what I read here,it seems to me just on asset-basis, our coin is undervalued by at least 1/10 right now! So, there is James reason to believe we will be in TOP-10. But, when other coins implement our technology, the streams of revenues from what, over 5 sources, will be unimaginable to me after 12 months!! I actually see a 1:1 ratio with BITCOIN at some point. Probably 12-24 month window is very realistic, imho & from my simple perspective.

I just wish I could do more. I was asked to help here, but I failed. The man I was asked to contact simply replied,
"I may answer the email after 3-4 months". So, I tried, but failed because we needed a much more timely response from him regarding our coin devel0pment's Black Paper. The reply was received from a friend who knew how to contact the man, so I know he never gave the reason for my wanting to contact him in the first place.

I am 53 with a family.Times are horrific for us here.Fired almost 3 yrs ago w/ no job prospects nor any benefits, so you may be able to imagine. I am blessed and grateful to my landlord to be so patient with us.YES, there are good people out there in the world. I only mention these things to highlight what motivation I do have here. I want to help, but don't know what I can do of any merit worth anything. My online time is nearly like James'. I have been ripped off so many times trying to make some sort of income online it makes me sick just thinking about it!! I can easily dedicate 10 hours a day to this coin. But, I have no tech skills. Just honesty, integrity, perseverance and a fighting spirit. This IS an uphill battle after all, isn't it?

Sincerely,
~darylluke.
I am all for optimism, but lets not get carried away. 1:1 against bitcoin is quite far away, unless you are talking about the price of each coin and not the marketcap

You have big energy, this is very much needed. You can help by bringing more people into the community, especially C devs for tradebots. I am still a few months away from having the tradebots university thing ready, but maybe its not too early to get people signed up for it. I am not sure yet the best way to conduct it, maybe just via posts on a separate thread will do.

There is also the social media thing, I dont use it at all, but I hear it is quite popular. Maybe there are things you can help with there. contact Azeh, this is more in his area than mine of course.

by the way http://btcd.xpool.ca/   doesn't work for many hours.
Also a bit worried about this. It seems shares are still being submitted as normal. Safe to assume payouts will continue as normal?
We will soon start our official pool, should be in less than 24 hours, we are curentlly testing, if you like to join just PM me or join me on skype, my id is theXpooky

Any reason you've delisted my pool as the official? You know, you can point your domain at it too and I can debrand from Xpool.

Thanks

I can help with transcription of the darkpaper into LaTeX format if wanted. That would make the paper look somehow scientific...
Also I can do some of the designs in a vector graphics format if wanted.

Just PM me some of the devs if that help is appreciated.

Yes!
Soon I hope we will get some fancy math formulas and will definitely need something like this to display it right.
Anything to make it better will be great

I also have Chinese translation underway. Maybe we should also translate to some other major languages?

Voted.
I'm getting a couple of cryptographer friends to look over the darkpaper. Hopefully we'll get some good feedback. Like 'ok, my job just got a lot harder.'
I am not using any new form of crypto with some possible unknown vulnerability, so maybe it is also good to get opinion of people just familiar with bitcoin tech

Good point on XNF. I can't find any audits or anything.

Is there a NXT asset for BTCD so I can purchase some on the AE? I can't seem to find one. Shark fund is quite a bit above my current NXT balance level to even get a handful of shares.

As soon as I get Teleport into testing I will get mgwBTCD live on NXT AE

Does this mean BTCD <--> NXT will be a go?  (sorry, I have not used the mgw)
yes of course we will have BTCD <-> NXT, in addition to many others
