They've already scammed me.  They cancelled my preorder against my will.  Which is illegal.  They want to pay back people who paid with BTC based on $ value and not BTC value.  That is also illegal (research barter laws).  They diverted attention from other competitors of the industry using false information.  Very much illegal.  They are selectively responding to e-mails based on what earns them more money.  VERYYYY ILLEGAL.  They are using machines built with people's money to yield profit for themselves.  Illegal.  They are using preorder money to supply the means of fulfilling their original promise...  illogical, and illegal.

These guys might as well write a book and call it "the secret".

Wait...  This is getting confusing.

Let me put it this way:  There is not a way in which BFL hasn't scammed people.  They seem quite comfortable and versed with it.  They believe that as long as they believe, then anything goes.  If you are looking for a new exciting way to be scammed, send them your money.  We'll still continue being surprised.

It's a fact that they performed poorly under pressure from their customers

I don't think they ever respected the customer enough to tell the truth, so customers should be relabeled as victims.  And in light of their willingness to berate anybody/everybody, it would seem that they are actually excited that people are both passionate and "helpless", and are placing orders.

As I understood it, they've already exceeded tens of thousands of orders, which is too much, by tens of thousands.

"first batch"  which is based on the first wafer that is supposed to yield 5,000 chips , was a generous 30 Jalapenos, which is not even the first 3 days of preorders from back in June '12.

Those were the chips which were in their final stage of development.  Oh yeah, except for the supposed "burn test" and prototyping of everything else.  That is after the final stage.

They'll probably deliver.  But that's not the point anymore, for me.  They've already clearly lied and diverted people's investments to themselves.  Sure, it's not realistic for BFL to expect preorder money if they were to have told the truth.  That's simply the reason why they shouldn't have lied.  Because the math speaks liability.  I hope for their sake, they deliver sooner than later, so the damage is less.  But damage has been done.  So much that I cannot exclude "scammer" from being apart of their definition.

It's a fact that they performed poorly under pressure from their customers and that they weren't up to the task like they thought they will be.  I guess people are angry with them and frustrated because they did not advertise their project as "We try to build ASIC miners, but we never made ASIC ICs before and we believe we can deliver this by Oct. 2012 if we can. We'll however take your money right now."

Marketing doesn't work that way and talking like that will scare people away.

Once they delivered FPGA miners that were best bang for the bucks, hands down. There were problems, final power specs were terribly off, but they delivered. I have no reason that they would not deliver ASIC miners since several people including some developers have them working and mining. Sure it was painful and frustrating job for them and some people deal with problems better or worse when stressed out.

If BFL deliveres anytime soon, people that invested in this venture via preorders will be rewarded with cheap miners compared to current market prices (GHs/$) and criticist will feel left out and feel bad for thrashing them although BFL probebly gave soma of them good reasons for that.  If they do not deliver, it will be failed investment for BFL customers, but I don't see satisfaction for others but for refund before it was too late.

Some may say that they spent xxx BTC for preorder last summer which would be worth fortune today.... I tell them, you'd spend them anyway on something else.

Is someone else going to argue that the boy who cried wolf is not a liar?

Just wondering because the boy who cries "in two weeks" is lot worse.

'Cuz he'll manufacture the wolves in sheep's clothing.

Aka shills and drones and false dreams.

The misinformation works to his favor, obviously.  He admits it himself.

Little does he realize, that being found for using misinformation to his advantage is just as bad as offering misinformation in the first place.  Even if he can hide his wallets, the pseudonyms will be traced.  Even if he thinks that arguing semantics will help him, his trend is clearly reckless and providing of delusion.  If he thinks the law will protect him, than he does not understand human nature, or wishes to deny its existence.

But he knows what he is doing, and it falls in accordance to human nature.  It's honest in its dishonesty.  It is the righteous hypocrite.

His ego will be reassembled by the will of those "below", because they were first in his mind, before he even found it.

Almost fell for the same trap. $2499 felt too good to be true, and when I looked at the size of the pre-orders.... I´ll stay away.

I do not think they are a scam - instead a poorly managed group that is over-promising and under-delivering.

With that said - I still have a Jally on order from Feb. We'll see how long it actually takes to get here - or if.

That's what nearly everyone thinks...until they dig a little.

I want to believe they are legit.  But very hard with their actions. And if they are legit with all the problems and delays one can only wonder how long they can keep going.   I will only believe when i see many many more unites go out.... that is only way i would be able to order off them.

Am I the only person who thinks it's wrong to sell a product that doesn't exist?
No, you certainly are not. Scam or not, given all of the red flags it's hard to imagine how so many people bought into this nonsense.

It's not really that surprising. Con artists exploit basic human emotions... in this case, greed.

People are trying to sell their pre-orders on ebay, at a mark up. Luckily they are not having much success it seems.

Jeesh. That takes some gumption. I suppose there's always a greater fool out there somewhere, though...

Not always. At this point everyone who preorder BFL in 2013 is pretty much a bagholder.
