I prefer to buy after the price dumps. Especially when a lot of projects have huge discounts to pre-sellers.

Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading? And how do you determine a good ICO or project?

To determine a good ICO or project you must read its road map and whitepaper and also look for its developer. A good ICO also have its own secured website and very active on social media.

If you see a good ICO or project I think it is better to buy token directly from the developer because sometimes they give incentives to early investors or buyers.

You talk about defining a good project sounds very simple but I believe that when we participate directly in that, we will be difficult to distinguish between good and bad because what you say, these are the things that many people know and in it, people who create bad and fake projects are people who know very well about your psychology. That means they will design more professional fake projects, to identify is more difficult and not easy, I really do not like buying tokens from ico, we can easily lose money stupidly in the market ico has too many pitfalls
The common strategy to buy ICO token is buying when that ICO token list on the exchange, depending on your target. You can wait until that coin list on the major exchange to buy for investment. But, you have to remember, everything all has a price, you spend more risk, you will receive more profit or reverse. But, I'm still like to trade altcoin instead of invest in ICO. I have more experience in trading, so, I choose to trade to make money from this field.

Earning an ICO course is easier than trading on the exchange, it needs experience. But you must very carefully choose the project.

Each type has its own strengths and risks. All of them need knowledge and understanding of the components of the crypto market. To choose a good ICO follow me should find out the following requirements:
- find out their teams, their CEOs from linkedin (often have personal profiles on the project website)
- community reference and media.
- most importantly, the idea and improvement path of the product to meet user needs.

Buying from ICO have a big risk because , if you buy from ICO, coin or token not yet list on market. So we don't know how value if token listing on market. We can loss or profit (if ICO succes and price going up, of course we got profit)

Honestly, I prefer to buying in ICO or buy on exchanges. Joined in ICO is possible get a lot bonus in private sale or pre-sale
Trading or join In ICO is have a risk. Use your money you can afford to lose it.

Both are risky, but based on my own experience i have big failure in buying ICO, most of my income on trading bitcoin was vanished due to ICO investment.
Select an ICO that has a potential to gain enormous profit, it is our own decision making why we choose that projects.Based on the following expertise it is better to develop more our knowledge in doing trading because we can't determine what it goes.

Buying tokens before the ICO is good because you get a discount on tokens up to fifty percent, and by selling your tokens at the ICO price you will get a profit.

Investing in Cryptocurrency itself is risky, there is no such Buying in ICO / Trading is a risk.

You need to understand the value of the coin and purchase it in the ICO at a lower price and at a higher Bonus. If you miss to get the higher bonuses, wait for the day of listing if you like the project and Purchase when the dumpers dump their coins at a lower price.

I suggest both ways are the risk, you should have your complete research about the coin you are investing in or trading.

Any sort of investment you have to face the risk, so before investing we have to do our own research otherwise, we will face a lot of problems. So both the ICO, trading altcoin is always risky, it is good to research about the ICO because you will get a higher bonus and less risk.

Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading? And how do you determine a good ICO or project?
Both are too risky you can possibly win and loss with these two but it can be profitable also if you choose a good ICO and buy promising coins. There are ICO are not successful what makes trading advantage is you can buy coins that you are already familiar and you can search the coin before you purchase it.

I think this will depend  in the situation of the ico project, because there are some ico that are good actually due to sometimes they get their target at once even it is on pre sales stage and gave a lot of attentions to community to buy more of their token. But there is still risk of course. while in trading you can do buy also if you are much familiar on doing this things and have contact if there is pump or dump will happen in the alts.

ICOs are giving bonus to investors for them to attract more people. You can ensure that you can earn profit by investing in profitable ICO. You should first find out if the ICO is scam or promising project.
In 2017, which you said be exactly but now it's false, 95% of ICOs was reduced after their token was listed on exchange sites even though they have a ICO very succeed and their project is very good, many potential in the future. Why is this happening? The main reason is most of token sold out in Private Sale or Pre-Sale when they were received a lot of token more. After token was listed on some exchange sites then they will sell out to earn benefit and this make the token will go down. The best now we should invest in altcoins instead of buy at ICOs.

Investing in a ico is a very good way to earn profit if you select a good project to invest. But recently here are lot of icos which have scamed after raising their funds. So be careful before invest on that.On the other hand trading altcoin also a good way to earn profit but you have to clear knowledge in trading.

Choosing a right ICO is risky in the sense that you may find a project that is doomed to fail in the future that you do not foresee in advance.

And when you talk about trading, there are mutiple factors that are involved where you have to analyse the coin in question in various points of view, such as change in demand, news that may affect the coin value, speculation, etc.
