Trading altcoin has less risk of being a spam as the reason of being in exchange.
ICO may have high profit than the traind altcoin in case your waiting time for that ICO to be in exchange is lower than one month.
It is about reliability and time.

Both have it's pros and cons.
The pros of buy from ico is it can gives you bonus of altcoins so you can get cheaper price for each altcoin so you can get higher profit but the cons is you need to wait longer time until it listed on exchange and there's a possibility for dev to run away with investor's money.
If you buy in exchanger, you can trade it right away but you might lost the possibility of higher profit as altcoin's price is cheaper if you buy in ico. (except if you're a good trader)
Its good that you jot that because many of the new people here on trading wants to jump in on the ICO's or in a altcoins. I was also worrying for the people who frequently buying from an ICO and submitting in a KYC which is very harmful for your own personal identity that can be used in a fraud. This is a risk over reward ratio, take the risk to buy in ICO or wait it on exchange. Im an investor but if a KYC is needed i keep on not buying any even how legit the project is i rather risk to wait and buy after exchange listing.

Same with you. But it's dilemmatic when it comes to KYC. I personally not so fond of KYC requirement because of the reason you mentioned above. But on the other hand, it can be useful to protect the token owner so if they lost their access to their token either get hacked or another reason, it helps the project team that issued these tokens to knowing who you are, especially in the big ICO like Envion. If you had to join ICO that requires your personal identity then pay attention to the well-known third party company to complete it because ICO that raising hundreds of millions should be able to pay for it.

Both have it's pros and cons.

The real bad thing about the ICO is that they are 90% fake and scam and most of the coins from the ICO do not even make to the exchanges. So if this is the case, the second option is much better of altcoin trading. Alteast you know the coin is at the exchange and you can cash out any time by selling at profit or loss.  In ICO, if the ico turns to be a failure, no one will buy your collected cheap ICO coins and it will just be a garbage.

I agree with you. I've been in cryptocurrency for 5 months and i witnessed by myself that some of ICOs that looks promising at the begining but ended up scamming the investors.

Time ago it was a good business to buy at ICOs because people were able to sell at inflated prices on the markets afterwards. Now it is different. Price tends to decline when tokens hit the exchanges. But you are never sure.

Even though they are both risky i could say that buying directly from an ICO is more riskier since you don't have guarantee if they will list the coin unlike in trading an altcoin which is already present in exchange you could easily convert it into btc or eth if you want regardless of the price, the bottom line here as a trader is that for this kind of question it is better to have a crypto which is already circulating and demand is present in the market.

Both of them can be very profitable as long as you choose the right ICO to invest in,  and you have a good knowledge about trading then you can earn a decent amount of money. This both works for me as well.

ICO is the choice of secondary profit, but many people like it because it is more profitable than the number of coins with cheaper price, but I do not analyze too much ico, in a month only follow 1-3 projects, I prefer trading with existing coins and have a reputation global.

Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading?
i guess its buying token from ico, since most ofhe ico project now created for fishy works that causes mostly to scam, and its more safer to buy altcoins as the coins has value ready, while those tokens have not.and you will have to wait until it will be accepted in exchange to have better price

I think a trading altcoin is a good option for him if he doesn't have any knowledge about the ico and he is afraid that he could not make any profit from the ico. sometimes trading altcoin is the best option that we can choose because we don't know if the ico could get increase for the price after it's release so if somehow, we need to waiting, we still don't know how long we should hold the tokens and meanwhile if we are trading altcoin, at least we can try to make profit because we can take a look at the history of the coins.
I am very skeptical when it comes to ICO's since most of them are fraudulent, So i will choose to trade in altcoins especially if i have done some research on them. When trading it depends on your skills and ability to gather information whiles with ICO the risks are just too much for me.

I think buying a coin for ICO is a riskier option. The project may turn out to be a scum or will not stick to the road map. Accordingly, the price of the coin may fall. And on the other hand, people make X on ICO coins.

I think buying from ICO more have risk than trade in exchange, if you buy from ICO you don't know when the coin will be listed in exchange and you don't know how much price when the coin listed in exchage.

Both for me is the best because i usually trade altcoin and invest ICO at the same time. We all know that the ICO are one of the most trend in the cryptocurrency so it means that there is a lot of ICO in the internet so i just do some research about the good ICOs and then put some money into it and trade altcoin after that so i can generate more income and i'll use them as my capital for ICO.

I mean I sometimes hesitate to trade altcoin, but I also hesitate to buy from ICO. Because they can dump on us after we buy their tokens. I prefer picking thir tokens from exchanges in post-ICO period.

the most profitable it is ico, but ico also has the greatest risk. so if you are not experienced, you should not invest in ico. and if you want to trade with altcoin also have risks, but you must be smart in assessing the price.

ICO is much more riskier than trading altcoin, because you don't know what will happen to the token once it is listed. On the other hand, if the altcoin is already listed in some exchange, then you can have a vague idea about its user-base, volatility, trading volumes and resistance / support levels.

both have different risks but if you want to buy from ICO the most important is to have the right analysis for the ICO so also if you want to trade we have to analyze the coin whether many of its enthusiasts but if there is no interest then better leave it
If you negate the fact that the project you are going to invest is a good one,the next thing you have to look is the amount of bonus you can get by investing ,but most of the time the price of the token goes down considerable after hitting the exchange,so most of the time it is a good option to get the coins after hitting the exchange if you have faith in the project.
