In my perspective, Investing in ICO is much riskier than trading altcoins, specially today. How many ICO's did we see run off with the investors money? Heck the amount doesn't matter to them. One ICO that stuck in my mind is Confido, even for a measly $300K, then suddenly disappear at the face of the earth. LOL. So we can't reason out that because we believed in that project, we are going to invest it in. We should do careful evaluation on it, but sometimes is not enough. They are really good at hiding their intentions at the very beginning. While trading altcoins, has risk as well, as least you have total control of your funds, you can get out easily and just lose few hundreds, but you have a chance to recover it when the right time comes along. So I must say that investing in ICO is riskier.

If you ask the question regarding risk then surely investing in ICO is much more risky. Trading altcoin is atleast an assurance that your money won't just vanish away all you will get is a bit less return while your holding is still tradeable. On the other hand investing in ICO is no assurance that you will get a good return over your money. However it is also factual that the type of return some ICO can provide its impossible to get such a return with altcoin trading.

Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading?

I don't see any point here. I mean if the ICO project is big and definitive in its goal then we can stay positive about it in the future also. The only thing that you need to make sure in the ICO stage is that you are not risking your money on potential scam sites. You must study the market in deep inside in early stages and then proceed.

Basically the risk is always there. You only get little plus point in the trading zone in it, you can be sure that whether the coin is scam or not. But now a days coins make it upto the exchange after successful ICO listing but then they disappear. Thus it really gets difficult many times to predict the actual entry point. We must learn and then invest thats the only option.

Buy token on exchange is safe because when you dont want hold that token then someone would buy yours tokens. But buy token from ico have lots of risk, if you want to sell those tokens, it is hard to find a good place to sell.

Both. ICO is a long term analitycs. And for crypto trading you need to be updated with your asset
I have never ever trusted ICO's because i always think that most of them are scams in the first place and because of that i don't buy any tokens that comes from ICO's unless i have done an extensive research on the ICO and the token that they are selling.

Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading?

Reliability and the project team are important for both.
If there are new altcoins or projects of which there is little news the risk of loss is high and I strongly advise against investing in them.
I personally prefer trading because I want to be in control of my actions, but it is only a personal preference.

Here and there the risks . You can select the project and he will be scam or buy the coin and it will go down for long and you will suffer and you will sell less . It is the market , it is necessary to study constantly monitor . And to be serious

Trading cryptos is more easier to earn profit than just investing ICOs, they may not much evereyday, but if we trade it regularly we may earn high profit from it, since that we can buy tokens from ICO to minimize the risk from trading and diverse our income.

Investing in ICO gives a large scale profit, if the ICO becomes successful and continues to get listed on large number of exchanges. Same happens with very few altcoins on trading. With trading continued active involvement is a must, without which one cannot predict the market as well can't engage into buying and selling process earning profit.

Yeah but, its quite difficult to choose which ICO will success in the future.

For me its both risky, it really risky. First, trading needs a lot of knowledge and you also need to have analysis every trade that you will do. Second, Investing on some ICO's out there is not that easy. You have to do your own researches about that project before you can invest on it.

Its not about deciding ico or alts its about in what you believe more. There new icos that are better then most alts, buy there are good alts that have future. Now we have hundreds of both, choosing is most important part now, better you choose better results you will have.
Do both if you think and believe in what they are trying to do, no matter what is it, today ico is tomorrow alt, make decision based on other facts.

I think investments in ICO are more risky, as much depends not on you. Developers can simply betray investors. And in trading you set the risks yourself. And you always know exactly what you're on and what you risk.

Buying in ICO is much better, or you can get more coin from bounty dumper who sell their immediately after ICO end. You can buy that because after the dev do their job then the price will rise. This is good strategy , isn't it? It's better than buy in ICO or trading.

if u have invesigated abit about former ICOs u know that Mamany of them never become coin and many of them vanished coz they couldent complete project to apply to some exchange , they are some of them too that has gained very good profit like QTUM , NEO , LISK ,i think ICOs are more risky but could be very profitable , if u choose the right one and it goes to some exchange ur in honeypot!
but u need to search and investigate a lot before investing in any kind of ICO!

It completely depends. If the ICO is getting alot of attention due to it having good technology in it or maybe having a star-studded development team, then ICOs are definitely less risky and more profitable. If you're quite experienced in trading altcoins and you have proper risk:reward ratio management, then definitely trading altcoins.

It just completely depends on what ICO you're investing in and what altcoin you're trading, and how good you are at it.

Can't agree more. It depends on the ICOs and altcoins.

Generally, it is difficult for most people to identify the quality of ICOs, what you can do is to get the pubic information from the ICO teams, but the information is not always reliable. In this case, most of the ICOs are risky.

Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading?

Based on my experience, buying a token from ico project in crowdsale is more risky compare with trading altcoin or bitcoin.
We need to know this investment is high risk high return so more higher risk and higher return. Lower risk and lower return.

Basically both are will be at risk if we act careless on start or lack of consideration in predicting for trading that would be to do.
In essence I think we must really can be able to see clearly a basis of what we will do. Choose the right ones and you can predict it will obviously proven would be produce a definite profit.
