I think it's because the symbol changed to caix instead of cai, and is no longer reading it.

Nah, people are just waiting for the full news regarding ANN 3 which was more of an announcement of an announcement. It will be made clear early next week and it sounds like it will be good news so expect the price to rise from then.
You also have to realise that Darkcoin has gone batshit crazy over the past 48hrs so people would have sold CAIx to board the DRK train. Once they have made a bit of profit and they see the price of CAIx, then they will buy back in.
Patience is a virtue, especially in crypto. That and research.

Do not send CAI to Mintpal, they changed the existing coins for customers who had CAI on Mint, they will no longer do that. Any more exchange of CAI to CAIx has to be done on coinswap.

Is that for sure? I think Stuhlman said that Mint converted one time automaticaly but CoinSwap should be the only exchange.

CAIx is a Proof of Stake coin, it can't be mined. However, you can still mine CAI and convert them to CAIx.
And devs are working on the multipool which will pay miners in CAIx
