Environment has its own influence on people but you personal have to allow that happen before it happens to you. You can live in a neighborhood of crack dealers and not be addicted to cocaine. A part of you could decision to fight the status quo and be different. Don't use the excuse of living in that bad neighborhood to destroy your life. Although it depends on a person. I believe our environment somehow affects our personal decisions. I am a disciplined gambler but put me in a gambling community and I might gamble a little more.

It actually depends on what kind of surroundings the person is having.
If the person is having a surrounding where people are not involved in gambling but at the same time they are not motivating others to quite gambling then there's still a chance that the person might not quite gambling.
