I'm looking at the possibility of this to happen for an addict to change if relocated to another area. I think that considerably it can happen for instance if an addict moves to a location where the casino or game house is far from him, by this he would be restricted or have a kind of barrier which may gradually reduce his interest in it. Like also if he moves into seminary school or church confine area where gambling is already inherently prohibited, then he may find it difficult to indulge continuously. But to sum up, I believe change is a personal decision and not the measures used to make an individual to change. Gambling is an habit and habit is formed either gradually effortlessly or by personal conviction and that is also how it can be managed.

This will certainly help addicted gambling to at least lessen His desire and capacity to gamble but of course depending to where he will be relocated , because if he will live again to same environment in which has gambling places also then that will be the same as what he has in the past.
but if the place will be somewhere outside His gambling zone? then help will be on that part of living.
this will add changes to his daily activities and will be a great escape for what they desire to live now.

no, it wouldn't be better but it would be a wise choice for the changes he wanted. one thing that a person must do to change his bad habit of gambling addiction is not only to move places, even an addict must do other activities to divert his attention to his addiction problem. That way everything will work out the way you want it to. The problem of addiction is a frightening specter that affects a person's life because of that one must convince himself not to make gambling as an escape or a steady income.
have fun when it's needed.

Change in environment will have a great impact and influence on any gambling addiction with reference to relocating to a very religious environment especially in an islamic society where gambling is completely prohibited an addicted gambler has no choice than to quit, even in the midst of christian faithfuls such a gambler can be counselled and encourage to stop gambling, more importantly non available of former gambling mates will speedily and hastily stop that gambler addiction because they motivate and encourages the act.
Change of environment can affect our gambling lifestyles if we move into an environment where there is more gambling addiction. Meeting new friends that are into gambling especially those that takes it very seriously like a career can affect our gambling urge and frequency. Gambling addiction had been a big problem in the society and there had been a frequent increase in the rate at which people gambles on a daily basis.
It would be better if people who are addicted could move to a new environment to meet new people and have different habits from where they lived before.
This will give him feel a different experience and can build a new habit that can stop him from wanting to play gambling.
If he did this continuously, maybe he could get rid of his gambling addiction in no time because he would feel the situation was different and he should change for the better.
Family, friends, and the environment will help him to change so he can feel a second chance in his life.

This can be a big help but considering the cost, most gambling addict can’t afford this one and in my country relocating is not easy, it means a lot of money. If you are already addict and want to get away from that addiction, seek the help of your family and even without relocating, you can still recover. Changing environment can be a big help, but of course it needs a lot of analysis because you are not just changing your place, you are also giving up things that you used to do on your previous place, and its not that easy.

Depends on whether your addiction is environment-based or not.

You can have 2 different gamblers. One gambles with friends and all his dudes are gamblers. They all go watch football in a pub every weekend and bet at the nearby bookie. It's a social event that's hard to skip.

The other guy gambles at home because he's tired every day after work and wants to forget about his day. For this second guy a change will be much more difficult. Maybe if he ever gets a better job and has enough money to find himself a nice hobby far from gambling...
Its situational and the type of gamblers you had mentioned is indeed accurate which it does depend on what kind of gambler you are whether a social type or alone type which environment could also a big factor on why he do play gambling and getting used to it and on the times that changes do happen then one could simply adapt it and the other one would really able to feel such changes and would also be having some changes in action as well but if your addiction level is already into the roof then you cant really totally stop no matter what condition or situation you are in on which it would really be just still like a normal day on where
if you do find out some difficulties on playing then you would normally be finding ways or path for you to do so.So its still the same old story.  Smiley

This is maybe applicable to a person who is addicted to a land base casino gambling game.  Moving away from the place where the patient's addiction is nurtured, is one of the better methods of controlling gambling addiction but if the person is addicted to online Casino games, then moving out would do nothing especially if the internet connection is way better than the place he came from. It is better to stay and just cut the internet connection off.
This is one of the best solution, to stay away from those casinos but since many casinos are getting online now, I think moving into another place doesn’t guarantee any change because it will still a choice of a gambler to continue playing or not. I guess, the role of his family can also be a big help to recover because if he is still expose in online gambling, there’s still a high possibility to become addict again. You can recover even if you stay on your place, its just a matter of dedication and commitment, better to take that chance now before its too late.

I can attest to this that really helpful , I become addicted in gambling for years and yes it makes me felt desperate and almost lost everything , till time that i ask my family how to get away and my parents advise me to leave my place for a while. so me and my family decide to go outside the city and live in country side and yes it helps a lot and made me clean after more than 6 months , now i can finally say that i am a addiction free and can stand in middle of gamblers without any betting lust.
Congratulations to you mate.

You did well for overcoming the addiction you've once got and the topic is directly connected to your experience. Having a new set of place and ambiance proved that it can help an addicted gambler.

I guess this won't be just for the addicted gambler but also to those people that are also addicted in other vices.

Can someone still develop the habit of gambling and become an addict even though no one around gambles?
It’s really up to you, no one can know that you are into gambling and changing location or moving into a new environment doesn’t restrict you from playing again. Having a self-control will still matter here because by this, you can be more effective and might be able to stop that gambling addiction to happen. Changing environment will only give you a positive lifestyle, and its really your choice.
If you are secretly gambling and you know how to hide your negative habits then yes no one will know that you're into that activity but what if you are on place where people play classical gambling like cards and mahjong? If someone spots you playing everyday then they are now aware that you are into gambling.

When you move into a new location with no gamblers, you cant be influenced to play a gambling but it's still possible to travel back on your old place especially if it's not far only to play gambling again. If someone has strong control of themselves then they won't end up becoming an addict and no need for them to re locate only to stop their negative habits.

This is very clearly affecting because what I feel now is that environmental factors are one of the factors that really determine whether they can become addicts or quit addiction.
But in this case when a gambler wants to stop and change their environment by moving or indeed like going away for a while it is quite good, the problem is that we must also have sufficient financial supplies here, not to mention if we have a family. Obviously this is a difficult thing to do.

Yes, society, the environment, and the company people keep determining who will are or who we're going to become in the future but when it comes to a gambling-addicted person's relocation to the environment won't help the person quit gambling or control his buzz if the person is not ready to accept the fact about his addition and take a touchy step which will hurt his affection towards gambling.

You will agree with me that society and the environment can have a great influence on the lifestyle of every individual, you often can find yourself doing, or being involved in that activity that almost everyone is involved with in that your locale as a result of influence. Now considering someone who is a gambling addict, is there any possibility of him/her becoming better if they are relocated to another environment or society where people around are not involved in gambling?

Can someone still develop the habit of gambling and become an addict even though no one around gambles?

now almost the whole world has internet coverage and also almost everyone in this world already has devices such as smartphones and laptops, so even though no one is around, anyone can play online gambling. the internet is the link of the world even though there is disaster happening.
In the past gambling is possible offline and people want to reach the Casinos to enjoy gambling. Now everything is possible sitting in the home as internet have connected everything. The technology advancement have made people gamble using smartphones. So, unlike the environment people have begun to gamble. We don't know whether the one next to you is gambling or doing something else. This is how things have advanced.

To get out of addiction these gambling sites have got different features, but I'm not sure these features are keeping people out of addiction.

Exactly, it will help to come out of addiction. Society and the environment plays a major role in ones life and it changes one's attitude and completely his / her life. Lots of examples can be said on it. When a student who is a non smoker stays in a hostel along with students smoking and drinking, then yes, one or the other day, he tends to try it out and slowly falls to it. Like wise, when a smoker stays with a group of student who do not smoke, he or she tends to leave smoking or reduces slowly.

So obviously yes, when an addicted person is brought out to an environment where none cares about the game he is addicted, he or she will slowly tend to forget it. This is the medicine and this is what is advised by doctors.

so the environmental factor is only 30% to stop gambling and 70% of the main factor is themselves with a strong desire to stop gambling so that their life becomes even better.
To be honest environmental is just 5% while your own desire/belief are 95% since environmental doesn't have any strong effect to control your habit. Take an example if you're a smoker and no one is smoking expect you, you wouldn't stop smoking since the caffeine already affect your brain and every time you want to stop, you can't. Any advice of how smoke will make a bad health for you is just a non sense for you, until you sick, you will learn about it. In gambling, after you broke, you will learn.

If that person has the resources and access to gamble then it's always possible for him to develop that habit. Even without the influence of other people as long as you're somewhat exposed to it then there's always a chance since gambling limits on several casinos are slowly getting lower. It somewhat helps if the people around you don't gamble so you wouldn't be pressured to gamble with them but it's not that impactful because there are gamblers who don't mind gambling on their own.
