I dare to disagree a bit, because the price for Bitcoin last year was due to the popularity of this coin and a very good commodity. Bitcoin has a huge demand in the market that is only in 2017, there were more than 12 million Bitcoin wallets in the Blockchain but Ethereum is only 1.2 million. Ethereum brings in competition with other altcoins especially from trading perspective. All cryptocurrencies support Bitcoin but it has no purpose to compete with it. Bitcoin is like a main source of every altcoins.
This shows that bitcoin is above everything. And even though ethereum's achievement itself is already very good, it is hardly close to bitcoin. Maybe it's better to say that ethereum competes with other altcoins because their distances are not as wide and as far as bitcoin. They are altcoins, close to each other. I can say that bitcoin is a different entity as a cryptocurrency.

Ethereum will have to gain at least 1502% of where it is right now to reach where Bitcoin is now (assuming at current coin supplies). So, going by my extinct Ethereum will probably never reach to the price where Bitcoin is.

ETH project is very strong and the team is very good. So the future of the ETH is very trusted and very clear. It passed 1000$ in the last year. I heard a lot of people say a soon day, ETH will hit 5000$. Perhaps it will happen. But I never think the price of ETH can reach the price of BTC.
