What do you think are other reasons why gamblers may choose to stop gambling while they are aging?

This shift may be a natural result of life changes, such as some people retiring and wanting to spend more time with family and friends. This change can be considered positive, as it indicates the individual’s maturity and awareness of his true priorities. However, it should be noted that stopping gambling may be temporary, and some people may return to it under certain pressures. Therefore, it is important to provide the necessary support for people who want to quit gambling, and to provide a healthy environment that helps them continue on this path.

Asset loss.

Most of the time people stopping gambling because they've loss a major of their portfolio and it's pretty dumb to continue more still hoping for a win. Aging not really a good reason, people stop because they've realized more what's the value of money and where should it have spent more. Like for example, if a person's path has been determined like what do's and dont's, they'll probably won't have a time spending money on gambling especially if this is a huge responsibility and more productive than spending money on gambling.

Actually, I think gambling becomes more attractive while you are aging. When your kids are grown ups and have families of their own, your responsibilities are much lower than before. Of course you can always spend your money on some gifts to your grandchildren or even on your kids even when they are grown ups instead of gambling the money away. But you definitely have more right to put your money at risk when no one is depending on you. So, I personally don't think that I will stop gambling when I become a granddad.
that is a good point but you would have to wish that your children end up well and they get their own jobs enough to fulfill their lifestyles and that they do not need to depend on you anymore

that would be the ideal situation where you could go to vacation and maybe visit the casinos there while your kids go on and live their life you go on to live the last remaining years of your life with enjoyment

If we talk about responsibility then yes I agree with your opinion that when we are old then usually our responsibilities are reduced because the children are adults and can support themselves, and in that situation usually your job is just to think of various ways to support yourself and your wife, and what you said is quite true that in that situation gambling can indeed be more fun.

But overall I might also say that in any situation gambling is a choice, meaning regardless of whether you are old or young, or regardless of whether you have dependents in life or not, it will not be a problem if you really want to get involved in gambling, the point is the most important thing is you must know and be aware that gambling is risky and also know about how to treat gambling correctly and appropriately.

Knowing that gambling is risky is already correct and appropriate way to treat gambling. What other ways of treating gambling do we have?

~
If you think like that, it's okay, after all, usually when we get old, we become the responsibility of our adult children and it seems like this has become a natural law where elderly people will be cared for by their family members.
But even so, I myself will not take advantage of this for myself to be more free to gamble, maybe for those of you who will choose to still gamble even though you are old, but for me it's better not to gamble anymore. Someone who is old of course they should be able to spend time enjoying it, it is not recommended when they are elderly but still work to make money, it's just that there are also people who are old by enjoying the rest of their lives by working or gambling. That is a choice from ourselves, just don't let us choose something that can endanger ourselves in the future.

I mean, yeah, in my opinion that's exactly what happens in the civilized world. Old people don't work to make money, rather they work because it's more fun for them to live like that. For many people losing their job(because of their retirement included) is hard not because they don't have their income any more, but because they don't actually know how to live without their job, what to spend their time on.

As we get older, we used to be more responsible as we needed to handle more things. During the young age, even if we have commitments, it doesn't look like a big thing. After years, even a small commitment looks like a big thing, and we start the plan for the execution much earlier, and we feel like a great achievement when the same gets accomplished. During our young age, the same could've been done on the go, and we could've never minded it being a big thing. At some point, being selfish is a must. If not, this is going to be difficult to survive in the fast-moving world.
He must change his minds when he becomes old and could be wise than before. He should think that he is enough to playing gambling and now is the time to stop gambling and enjoy his time. He needs to think how he can use his spare time and not feels boring if he don't have much activities and not trying to visit casino to playing gambling.
If he can think what he can do in his ages, he will see that gambling is not for him anymore especially if he played gambling in his young age.

What do you think are other reasons why gamblers may choose to stop gambling while they are aging?

I don't think age has much to do with gambling. You might lose interest even at a young age, or start gambling when people already call you 'grandpa.' It depends more on your financial goals and family responsibilities. For some, losing gambling friends might lead to switching activities, as the joy often comes from playing together, not alone. Whether you gamble at a young or senior age isn't the issue, what matters is playing responsibly.

Yes I think so but you will reach a point in old age when your memory power will also decrease, and you will not be able to use your experience for the right purpose, your knowledge will be lacking. It seems that you are young but you will understand the touch of age on whom you have touched, since online gambling touches many young people but those people only face addiction.
But those who enter gambling when they are adults are addicted but less, those who enter gambling under the age of 18 are basically the most addicted people. That is why the youth is given the highest priority to enter gambling, because he will be educated and will understand everything about gambling. Then he will become the only good gambler.

I agree with you, gambling addiction is more likely to spread quickly among young people, because at this age, emotions and curiosity are very high, and they are not aware of the risks of gambling, because the money they are gambling with is their father's or mother's hard-earned money, not theirs, so they cannot understand the real value of money. Therefore, the depth of addiction is much greater when gambling at a young age.
If we are careful, gambling with the mindset of entertainment, then it will not be the cause of our addiction, but if we are not careful, it can easily lead a gambler to ruin.
So be responsible, be aware of the limitations of gambling and the risks of gambling, and gamble only for the purpose of entertainment.

If you look widely out there there are many people who are getting older but are unable to have responsible attitude and often underestimate certain things that are actually problems that cannot be solved easily, basically age does not guarantee anything because attitude is not about age but how the mindset of each individual itself.
Whether they are still young or people with older ages will always show quite significant differences in attitudes to each condition, I think you can understand it when you are able to distinguish the character of each person of various ages.

Live with peace and enjoy life!
Please direct me if this topic has been discussed here on this board so that I can lock the thread.

In the meantime, I want to discuss the reality that a gambler can reach the age where he doesn't want to gamble anymore. When we start aging our priorities in life start changing. We get to have more responsibilities in our hands. Remembering the extent to which we gamble when we are youth it is observed that gambling can be more appealing during our youth stage. But it's less when we get older.

The reason why most persons stop gambling while aging is because of financial security which I mentioned earlier about taking responsibilities, being focused on their family, retirement, and other life goals which gambling may not be important at this stage of life.

What do you think are other reasons why gamblers may choose to stop gambling while they are aging?

There are many reasons why some gamblers who are getting older may want to stop gambling, perhaps because they value the remaining money they have more,
or they may just want to enjoy the remaining time they have on earth with their loved ones.

It may also be that gambling is no longer appropriate at their age, or their loved ones may also request that they stop gambling.
These are just a few of the reasons.
Or they just simply realized that instead of losing their retirement funds in gambling, they should use it wisely on making their remaining years more valuable and fun, rather than wasting them into gambling and end up struggling for their finances again due to wrong decision making and personal attachment to gambling.

Winding down.
Let's just say that as we grow older and aging, priorities vary in life, to the point of letting go of old priorities as you embrace new ones. And while gambling can be fun and exciting, but the impact brought by gambling especially when at a loss is already too heavy for these weak and highly emotional retirees.

It's already hard for them to manage deep emotions, so as much as possible, they should start avoiding gambling and focus on a more healthier and stress free retirement life.

as long as you have money and a steady income, you might still gamble, age is not a benchmark that makes people think relatively high will do enough to bet. everyone wants big things whether gambling or living enough. of course old age will experience a decrease in desire because they think everything they do is enough because it is different from youth who still have integrity in looking for money. old age only wants twilight time

I’m sure there have been plenty of people who have outgrown gambling. It all depends on your personal situation though. From my observations the people who gamble the most are retirees. They have excess income to burn most of the time and plenty of time to do it. So I think it depends more on your situation with time and money than your age.
That's very correct. Money is very important and determines if the person should gamble or not, and the time too, but we should not forget health; it's not common among advanced people, but in this part of this world, a lot of those old people do have some health challenges, which they tend to focus on, and the health situation can also determine if they are fit for gambling or not, as they might be advised to stay away from it and focus on other recreational activities if they must find something to have fun with.

Regardless there should be a limit to everything and there should also be an age a gambler should say it ok, if he's aging, though I have seen some elderly people who are still involved in gambling even at Old age, and can't tell what they're still doing if it's for fun or still looking for opportunities to hit jackpots at that age if they didn't had that chance at youthful age, and doubt if they're going to make the money that they're looking at that age , However, everything balls down to being something of a personal decision to decide to stop gambling.

Our likes and dislikes changes as we grow older. We like more simple things and with gambling, do you think that when you get older you'll start to dislike it?

Maybe, maybe not.

It varies on how sociable you are and you find better company to do other things other than gambling. I see the elders mostly at parks, malls and just do stuff that they enjoy.

Wit this, it's still valid that someone might just get older and still get to gamble because that's what enjoyable means to him.

Sport not as gambling, if you want to stay healthy from involving in sports, it should be done with a motive of exercise and not the one whereby you gamble and even have your emotions troubled, gambling can ruin someone at some point and can aswell cause them some form of financial set backs too so you cannot capitalize on such for a continues engagement and tag it for health reasons, there are more engaging activities that can be done at Old age for health reasons that can still improve the health and the ages can still stay very much healthy.

Yes of course there are activities that in old age turn out to be very good, I know that there is something in particular that we men should do so that it does not affect us in old age, as we age our muscle mass decreases, it is important that when we are older, we do not Stop going to the gym, it is important that we maintain the gym so that the muscle mass is maintained and we have more strength, therefore there will be more stability and thus the motor functions do not decrease with the passage of time, which for me is one of the things that most affect.

One thing I have experienced in life and aging is that, the older we get the more selfish we become, so for that, we can't compare the risk tendency of a youth to that of an older man, because as you said priorities may have changed by that time, a young guy can still risk all his cash reserve on gambling and he won't care if he lose it all, but an older man won't take such step without thinking twice.

What makes the difference so much is the responsibility, she not as if the older guys doesn't have the motivation to gamble, but the truth is how much leftover funds will ye have after paying bills and catering for the entire family.

I see it's the ageing, the older one gets the less the interest to gamble and participate in several activities.Considering this season now;the younger ones are most likely interested and obsessed with gambling, and the older ones are just trying to figure out which path to take out of the gambling space. The experiences they had from young age through adulthood is what keeps them intact or separated.

When you start getting older, another thing that makes someone stop gambling is because they no longer like things that are too risky because something that is too risky can increase adrenaline, while when you are old you want something calmer or more peaceful, but I see many people who continue to gamble when they are old, maybe because they gamble for fun or it is a time when they can hang out with friends because the gambling they do will not affect their finances which are already stable and they gamble with money that they can afford to lose.
