Well, if that's the reason people who are old enough to gamble are like that, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Because their main reason is for their loved ones. Then it's just as ugly to see that we're old and we're still gambling. Even if we say we are just enjoying the time we have in this world.

Unless maybe the others, even when they are old, don't care that theirs can play gambling because the addiction has been there for a long time and
they have been playing gambling for a long time, so that's how it is.

Family will be the reason why they decide to stop gambling. They don't want to show that they lose control in gambling while their kids grow up and married and they have grand children. Yes, you have a good point on what you just said above, because inasmuch as financial security is one of the reasons why a user may choose to stop gambling while he/she grows old, other factors such as health, and change of environment can also be a reason why most people may choose to stop gambling while they grow old, and I will be elaborating these two points below.

Consider also that when you are already in old age, you don't have much to do in life. So one way to get your mind busy is to do something light, like gambling. Hence, some old people are devoting their time into this laid-back activity. It doesn't mean that they will spend good money to this, but usually it is just to pass their time. So they are only allocating whatever funds they have.

Well from my opinion, it's probably because anyone below 18 years is not mature to handle gamble losses, and one of the reasons why government gives an 18 years person the right to vote is probably because they believed that that's the age they became matured to make their decisions. That's the same as asking if there is an age that someone stops wanting to have fun or laughing? That seems like a ludicrous question, because I cannot imagine that someone would ever want to give up these things willingly. The only obstacle to these things in life is if you lose mental competency or the dexterity to do these things when you choose. You also have to factor in whether someone is just doing it for general entertainment or they have become addicted, because addiction can bring with it a whole host of mental and financial problems which can actually shorten your lifespan. Generally, if someone is financially responsible, then they will have more time and money to spend as they age - which they may choose to use for gambling.

Most common reason is due to financial situations and there's no big deal about the age. Some people decided to stop because of serious matters, specially when there's scenario that triggers them to forcibly decide on quitting. However, there were some that even if they're aging they won't quit due to gambling is their passion and they're happy about it. It could be their form of entertainment and stress reliever when managed very well but can be stressful if habits is out of control.
