I do believe that there's a age where one will get to and they would lose the taste to gamble. It happened to my grandfather but I don't expect everyone to be the same. Some persons might stop gambling once they have aged enough while some people will continue to gamble till death, as long as they are strong enough to keep gambling. While I was younger, I see my grandpa always gamble but he is above 80 years of age now and doesn't gamble anymore despite that he is still very strong and healthy.

Old age will make you not enjoy the fun in gambling anymore, because you will not derive pleasure in it. The moment you don't have appetite for gambling, you will not see it entertaining anymore. There are a lot of things that will be put aside at old age, because it's not what you want at that time. However, if you are the type that gambling is your hobby, you can continue gambling when you are old since you are still enjoying it and do it for fun, to keep you away from boredom.

Once a gambler is always a gambler, once you are used to it there is no turning back, all you can do is limit the session and believe me, if you leave them too long you will force yourself to go back, as per the question that OP asked I believe that gbling has no age boundaries, once you are in it you are going to keep getting your hands dirty, the only issue an old gambler can have is health-related problems and in this case he has to stop unfortunately.

Today old people still gambles, in fact they are the types that have all the free time in the world, they have less problems to think about and just enjoying the last remaining days of their lives, I think that gambling will be more enjoyable at an older age than mid-age when you have too many things to worry about.

About the age of the gambler which is the reason why they will stop, it will not always happen, because I see people who are even 1st century old can still gamble, and they say that this is life and gambling or betting is an entertainment in their old age.

It is also about habits in youth and how each person's financial situation is. Those who are still easy can even stop gambling when their mental and financial state cannot be controlled and are aware of the losses that always occur without making a profit.

And some older people may be more consistent with small money and keep doing it until they get bored.

And this can depend on the purpose of why they gamble, for a big profit, but then they stop at a young age,
or for entertainment, but they don't quit even though they have reached their age limit.

One thing I have experienced in life and aging is that, the older we get the more selfish we become,
I won't say it's selfishness but it's an attitude that comes with maturity, as we grow older the more we tend to act, react and do things base on logic rather than for the sake of it. And just as the op said about responsibilities. The responsibility we shoulder makes us to wanna be lethal with how and where our money going into.

It only takes a gambling addicted fellow to include gambling in his scale of preferences, not even in the least of things or except such person is very much financially well to do and therefore has more than just some extra bucks to spare for regular gambling.  At most, what anyone who really enjoys gambling can do is to not regularly engage in it and also manage to be diligent with it.

Quitting gambling at an elderly age depends particularly on the type of gambler. There are two types of gamblers: those who gamble for profit and those who gamble for fun.

A profit-oriented gambler might quit due to financial security concerns and wanting to prioritize responsibilities as they age or retire from their job. They no longer have a steady income, so they want to minimize spending and be more responsible.

On the other hand, a gambler who plays for fun may not necessarily quit at an old age, unless they worry about getting to the casino or staring at phone screens for long . An elderly person who gambles for fun can still visit casinos and relive fond memories with friends.

Age can be a factor, but it's not always decisive. The type of gambler determines their willingness to quit. An older gambler who gambles for fun sees it as entertainment, exercising their intelligence, and staying active socially.

On the other hand, a profit gambler may quit to avoid overspending, having chased profits in their youth.

What do you think are other reasons why gamblers may choose to stop gambling while they are aging?

My personal opinion when someone wants to stop gambling there are probably two factors that influence it, the first is because of boredom if a gambler is bored with all types of gambling games they play because he often loses compared to his wins then I think he will just stop because he is desperate and the second factor is there are gamblers who really want to stop at a certain age because to prevent their children from following in the footsteps of these activities.
Yes, each opinion has its own view in cases like this and it all depends on yourself whether you have the intention to stop or not.

OP you have mentioned all of the obvious reasons someone would want to quit gambling as they age, because if not for financial security and some sense of responsibility, most persons wouldn't want the fun to end just already but since they have to face that reality and make sure they get their life fixed at some point, they will need to make sacrifices such as this and get things done. One other factor I think will make a gambler quit gambling at a point in time could be when they are trying to curb an addiction issue and lastly limited resources could be another reason they will want to quit at some point.

There's no age limit infact people who are older have less responsibility than midlife like 40s which means now they get to enjoy their life to its fullest and if gambling is their fantasy then I don't think there's any need for them to stop unless they can't support themselves financially and doesn't have the risk tolerance but gambling irresponsible by borrowing money or whatever like that shouldn't be encouraged but one who has money and make a decision then they can do it.

What do you think are other reasons why gamblers may choose to stop gambling while they are aging?
The only thing that can make a gambler to stop gambling while ageing is being responsible. But of course not all ageing Gamblers think of stopping even in their old age. gambling addiction has no age limitation. A chronic gambling addict or an addicted gambler can continue till old age without stopping. it's only few ageing Gamblers who tried several tricks on how to win big or make fortune from gambling that didn't succeed, that made the right decision of quitting after many years of hoples assumption and never win. So in this situation there are two criteria or set of people, the ageing quiter and the non quiter. Just like we have the good people and the bad people in the society who repent from there lifestyle and those who don't restrain from their lifestyle till death.

What do you think are other reasons why gamblers may choose to stop gambling while they are aging?
Naturally a gambler can stop gambling because they feels like stopping and could see it as youthful play. I can remember those days while with my grandma, I will jump up 10x and asked her to follow and jumped she will say my son that is a baby play that she can't jump again I will just smile and let her be. So in essence, one must not quite gambling due to much activity but can quite gambling because they felt is Longer suitable for their health especially when they are of age it may cause a high blood pressure for them where if they lose they may slump and give up.
When gamblers are older they don't have multiple sources of income which prevents them from wasting money.  And this is why they give up gambling in their old age.  Gambling is a fun thing that gives a lot of pleasure and many people do not hesitate to spend their hard earned money for that fun and at the same time there is a chance to win a lot of things due to which the number of gamblers is increasing day by day.  No matter how addicted a gambler is, they stay away from gambling in their old age.

Aging is not main reason why gambler stop gambling or lost the interest of gambling. It’s the priority in life since there’s a lot of gambler in my neighborhood that already around 70 years and above that is still active because they do this as a hobby to kill time since they have a lot of it.

I said priority in life is the key to stop gambling because you will not gamble if you have a family to feed while you prioritize them over a leisure time on gambling. There’s a lot of things to do with money and it’s all about what you prioritize in your life.

Those active gamblers usually have less family and social time.

Let love lead
I think age doesn't matter, but people quit because of reason.

Example you're in a relationship with a woman that don't like gambling, if you still want to be with her, you're forced to quit gambling.
I think I buy this your idea to the fullest. Reason and decision can only make a gambler quit habits, you might have a quick appraisal of yourself and realize the extent of funds you have lost in gambling and you would decide to quit for the mean time.

Old people do not quit gambling, instead most of them may not have the funds readily available to gamble, hence they might resort to local gambling with dice games or some other local games with their fellow old folks. It is already part of them and gives them joy, so even when the funds is not readily available, they improvise and still get their fun.

The reason why most persons stop gambling while aging is because of financial security which I mentioned earlier about taking responsibilities, being focused on their family, retirement, and other life goals which gambling may not be important at this stage of life.

To this end, I think that the health challenges that come with old age would be the reason that people in old age may not be gambling. Because if we agree that financial insecurities would be a reason, there are old people who are rich and can afford to keep gambling if they were really healthy in strength and mental agility to research and analyse their games but if you don't have health then you would be sorting out yourself in medication. I guess the reason for the popular saying that "health is wealth". Some people see gamblers as people who don't care about family emotions etc and so it won't be out of place to also think that an addict old age gambler would still think so much of the family. He may even go into drinking alcohol and be cared for by the family  Grin . So it is about being healthy and wealthy to know if an old aged addict gambler would stop.

Old age comes with health challenges. Then you have to live responsibly. When you are at certain age, you won't appreciate deriding comments and society also ascribe you to behave in certain ways and to be in certain places. So for an old person to be seen in a physical casino with young people, he may not be taken seriously especially in societies where gambling is seen as juvenile activities.

I don't think there's an exceeded age range for gambling except you decide to stop, the only category of people that are restricted are those under the age of 18, anyone above that age doesn't have any problem about an age limit. At some point life it's possible for you to lose interest in gambling especially when you put your mind and attention into other things, it's possible to also lose interest when gambling has done more than good, having more losses than wins is a sign to just give up instead of continuing the endless journey of throwing your money away.

Old age in people is sometimes divided into two human qualities: someone becomes wiser, and someone, on the contrary, becomes stupid. Therefore, giving up gambling can also be the reason that old people sometimes do not control their minds to stop themselves from stupid actions in time. As an example, we saw the action of an elderly woman in this topic.

But of course, wise people, people who value what they have, have enough life experience to avoid getting involved in various risky projects. Gambling is precisely a risky activity, participation in which can have a detrimental effect on the health of older people.

The older we get, the wiser we become in the things we do,  reducing the youthful exuberance in us over time. However, when someone comes of age, there are things he or she wouldn't like to take up again because they no longer find it interesting due to their mental health and state of being don't welcome it as a good idea to engage with because of how the weaknesses of the body system have become.

Since gambling requires more thinking, and analyzing of games to be able to win, I don't think someone who's old will love to go through all that when they remember the family responsibilities that face them and little or more illnesses that they have taken care of, like HBP, diabetes, loss of memory, etc. Gambling will be one of the last things on their mind.

What fun or money will the be looking for, at their old age that they didn't get when they were much younger. Is it at their old age will they get it, when the body system is weak.

Once a gambler is always a gambler and I do not think that age can stop someone from gambling but the interest can reduce. Someone who is aged would not see finance as a problem.Gambling may not reduce as people age even though older people tend to be financially stable than the younger ones. What the older people may look for in gambling could be companionship.

They just want to get out of the house to a place where there are people. They are running away from the loneliness that comes with getting old.

Those who give up gambling at old age might because their health conditions do not allow them to be as active and mobile anymore to play the types of games they used to love especially those poker players who like to be physically present at the casino.

it depends on how old you're and how much of a gambler you where at the time you gambled actively. Normally, getting actively involved in business demands you cut off anything that's going to drain your finance and it's normal to cut off something that might limit you most expecially when you're in your prime.

From 30 to 45, it's likely that work activities might stop you from gambling and for me, at that age I might slow down or if possible take a break entirely which can also boost my productivity. From 50 upwards when you've probably set up the right systems in place that will mean that you must not work as you use to, you can still do your betting the manner you're used to. But then, to put yourself in a position where you don't have to become afraid of the effect of gambling in your most active and productive season, it's best to set out a good gambling routine that wouldn't lead you to gambling uncontrollably. If you can be disciplined with how you gamble, even though you're aging or still young, you can still gamble and carry out your jobs seamlessly. Greed is the reason why a lot of people can't control thier gambling urge.

I understand your view on this, but not all gamblers see it that way when they are aging. They still feel it's normal to gamble since they have been doing it for a long time now, they've gotten used to the emotional swing. Don't you think there is an extent to which a gambler can gamble that he doesn't feel any emotions anymore? If so, even in old age, the gambler won't feel any emotions that may lead to high blood pressure, because his mind has already been built that gambling is all about loss and wins.

As for me, I don't think there is any good reason for them to gamble. At that age, the gambler must have had children who will, in turn, take good care of him. He wouldn't have any responsibility apart from little things he ought to take care of himself for.
