Every big event or thing, invention has a day to commemorate or its commemorative day https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commemorative_days
I would like to call upon entire bitcoin community to make a bitcoin commemorative day also.
Something like World Bitcoin Day.
I hope this will bring bitcoin to more attention.
Edit : Poll added.Everyone is requested to vote.

The idea was great and good, but there's something I saw that will going to have a bit problems. For so many communities in this industry who will handle the program, I mean who will be the organizer for this event at all? and what could possibly the bitcoin enthusiast can get about this commemorative day for bitcoin community?

That can happen on the near future if bitcoin continues to gain support. Even we say their is a lot of people using bitcoin it still not enough for any government of even UN to declare a bitcoin day. For the mean time and a good start is a group of user declare a day for a bitcoin then make a hash tag for it to spread to the world.
I think the main power is the people's power and the way more and more people are coming toward it soon it will became an universal currency as now it is the most used currency of internet.
I think in few years people will be declaring themselves a bitcoin day and going to celebrate and observe every year. Anything will be possible when people unit.

Yes, why not. I think it can help in making it more global and broadening its reach. Celebrating the day in such a way that will introduce or invite people or share the benefits if bitcoin with others would definitely give it a boost.

Yes. We do need a bitcoin day. It has changed our lives remarkably and been with us in our bad time and helped lots of us in gaining financial stability. We can celebrate it by giving offers on purchases made with Bitcoin that day. Like a Black Friday sale but only for Bitcoin users.

That sounds great but who would organize such an event? Bitcoin and cryptos in general don' have a large enough base and considering how decentralized btc is, holding a worldwide event would really be hard.

I think it would be better if there would be a Bitcoin Day and we are going to receive bitcoin, in any amount in our wallet, rather than having an event for all the bitcoin users around the world which is impossible since we are from different countries and it would be very hassle to have this kind of big event because it would need a big amount of money to throw up an event like this.

That is a good idea but who will finance the bitcoin that will be sent to every users? As you have said, it will be impossible sine we are from different countries. It would be very hassle also to have this kind if event because there are million of bitcoin users nd that will need a huhe amount of money.

It is truly very good idea of celebrating the Bitcoin Day but keeping the halving Day as the bitcoin day is not good as Halving Day dont come yearly and i will suggest to keep the Day which comes Every Year so like this we can fix the date of every year as Bitcoin Day just like Feb 14 is Celebrated as Valentine Day. Like this more People will come to know about Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrency
We should really have a bitcoin day and most users here do really love the suggestion here because we are all bitcoin users here and we should really celebrate this yearly event on which bitcoin was being created. We should remember the days on which bitcoin was created on yearly basis so that awareness would really be spread.

I like the idea we the community of bitcoin need to have a bitcoin day and I think we have to select the day of halving as the day of bitcoin or we have to select a day before or after the halving for to celebrate the day of bitcoin. It will add more thrill to the halving and then the price will also increase more higher than any other halving which occurred in the past.
It's a cool idea about a bitcoin day, I don't agree with you about bitcoin day should be the day of halving as the day of bitcoin as blocks will divided. So mining will be so difficult for miners.
So we can choose another day which it's a great day for bitcoin community. or maybe we can vote for it. So in this day we will celebrate around the world. Really, It's an awesome for us.

I like the idea of OP, but then like other posted here why having a bitcoin day since the fiat does not have their own day, like fiat day.
But then it comes to my mind that, not only celebrating bitcoin day but promoting to it to the public, this might be world news if ever the event will come true, by then, people will be curious about his and chance to try the bitcoin on their own. Maybe all we need now is someone who will gonna initiate to start this one, but for sure there will be countries that will gonna bash it out, since they banned bitcoin transaction in their country.
But I look forward to this event one day.

Yes we can. Smiley The Bitcoin Pizza Day, 22nd May, is the best candidate for that in my opinion. When people discover that 10,000 BTC were paid for two Papa John’s pizzas they really start to pay more attention to Bitcoin.

I like the sound of a Bitcoin Day... Hope we could celebrate it annually and be able to receive bitcoins as a gift from someone...Wouldn't it be nice if we all get to gather around and receive bitcoins for just one day? and forget about this mining jobs and decoding things.

Yah, it sounds good, and the giveaway that you suggested. And once bitcoin day published, then bitcoin will be known worldwide as people or users will gonna gather around to celebrate it.
It would help people to be encouraged by the event, maybe all we need is someone who will gonna initiate to start this event then.

Bitcoin Day?

That would be funny. I already see people in the news with the "Make Bitcoin Great Again" hats. It is possible to make a Bitcoin Day as long as enough people from Bitcointalk votes on the day they want and the community stays loyal to whatever choice it is.

We have a Bitcoin Pizza Day already though, isn't that Bitcoin Day?
Yeah they should just rename or celebrate bitcoin day on the same day. I love the "Make Bitcoin Great Again" Hats. Also the fact that that women got pepper sprayed at UC Berkley. That got some coverage in the news and more people get to hear about bitcoins.

Interesting, I didn't know that women got pepper sprayed at Berkley. Pretty intense. I'll read up on that later.

With the price of Bitcoin going up there is only a select amount of people who know what money actually is.

If Gold goes up to a major level then there will be riots in the streets and they will really know what money is but by then they will prolly be too late.

Further developments need to be made first before thinking of such a thing. Events like these, in my opinion, would only generate a small buzz and could not really help lift bitcoin's status. This is a good idea in the future but not right now that bitcoin is still primarily in its early stages and still has a lot of improvements that has to be done.

Definitely Yes! We can have a bitcoin day! This is a very good idea. I just hope that on that bitcoin day, there will be bitcoin raffles, bingo bonanza, and many more bitcoin games just like some major events or holidays that are being celebrated annually all over the world! But what do you think will be the best date for it?

everyone is entitled to make the event but sometimes events are not realized. considering the bitcoin system has anonymously to conceal the identity of the sender, the holder of bitcoin biggest can make what op wanted (bitcoin day) may exist, but I think the holder bitcoin World wants to hide his identity so that no thing bad happen

Satoshi will decide and set the date and organise the World Bitcoin Day. He will invite all the Bitcoin community leaders and traders and ordinary Bitcoiners to attend the Bitcoin Sumo Festival on that day. He will distribute all of his Bitcoins to his chosen charities.

A million BTC given away?  That's crazy.  Makes up for all the selfishness in Bitcoin.  That would be truly something else.
