Sure good idea, that way we can introduce bitcoin to more people.I will rather focus on technology what can be used in many ways and benefit for ordinary like cheap very fast transaction and blockchain transparency
Most news about bitcoin in mainstream are about price and about fake negative aspects

Every big event or thing, invention has a day to commemorate or its commemorative day https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commemorative_days
I would like to call upon entire bitcoin community to make a bitcoin commemorative day also.
Something like World Bitcoin Day.
I hope this will bring bitcoin to more attention

I didn't read the whole (all the two pages of it)

So, if someone has already suggested that, then sorry for repeating it. Overall, I don't think that it is a good idea since why we should set a certain date to celebrate Bitcoin on that day? Nevertheless, having said that, I think that anyone could set his own date, say, when he first learned about Bitcoin or earned his first satoshi (or even his first bitcoin). That would follow a genuine Bitcoin spirit, I mean, celerbrating the Bitcoin day in a totally decentralized way, all year long

It's a good idea to celebrate Bitcoin BTC Day , And I am sure bitcoin will be more popular in the world and help people to know this new virtual money and how to use it , and make Satoshi Nakamoto happy so we must vote for the birth day of bitcoin and make it better and better , and let's hope that this will bring bitcoin to more attention

Still learning new things every other day about bitcoin... had no idea Genesis block day was "remembered" or even that block halving celebrations are held (aren't miners at least a little sad about halving though?).

I think the idea of letting people celebrate whichever day they deem appropriate is keeping in the spirit of decentralisation.

Perhaps one day Nakamoto's birthday might be celebrated, when it's found out =)

The day the Genesis block was mined is imo the best candidate. Also, we already have Bitcoin Pizza Day for a few years now Smiley.

Its a good idea. More like"Bitcoin's birthday" or something which we all can use to promote bitcoin to people outside the crypto community. My humble opinion is that it is high time for us to have a day like that to promote bitcoin as well as to celebrate the fact that bitcoin is going strong. Perhaps if bitcoin foundation and all the big players would reach at an agreement and officially announce it, that would be awesome!

I think a "Bitcoin Day" is a good proposal. It will add awareness to bitcoin to some people but who will initiate? No one will do it to  promote, the government will not do it also  Smiley

I think the bitcoin consortium will declare a day for it to be offical. But there's one already "The Black Friday http://www.bitcoinblackfriday.com/ where there are deals and discounts when you buy using BTC.

Apart from the day the genesis block was created, and pizza day, we have another special day - block reward halving.
We celebrate it only once in 4 years, but that makes it even more special. Kind of like being born on 29-Feb.  Smiley

Interesting idea, but what is meaning behind it?
Who should proclaim such day?
It will be good idea to proclaim ''bitcoin day'' in the public and educate people about bitcoin, even in the schools, talk with media etc.
Such bitcoin day will have some important meaning and will help us.
Bitcoin day only for bitcoin community have no meaning at all.

I really agree, if we can have a  day I am sure  will be more popular and it can attract more user, but in order to do that we need more user and pro active to advertise , it will be nice if we can have  on google doodle as a starter
yeah i am agree with you that this idea will attract a number of users but i think its too early that we thought for  day or cryptocurrency day...... as it is very difficult to convince government on this matter..... i think in few years when  became as popular as fait money then it is easy to demand for such type of day......

I really love the idea.  Grin

A bitcoin day to where all will remember the time when bitcoin fell and risen up from the grave.  Grin This might also be inviting to new users seeing how great of a comeback it made for just a year. From $370 - $968.

Here is a nice looking graph of it.

this is a great idea and i believe that it can actually bring a lot of publicity to bitcoin if we start celebrating it every year.

i also vote for the birth day of bitcoin (the Genesis Block Day) to be bitcoin day, i think it is more appropriate than the pizza day.

Sound good and such a great idea indeed.Bitcoin is the currency of the Internet as well as already growing a big community but problem is limited only small part of bitcoin users or internet marketers but other parts such of big generation still don't have any idea about this digital currency.Bitcoin can be extremely profitable if you know how are working this currency,it should be understood among the people over the world then can be a chanced a bitcoin day.

The "Genesis Block Day" is January 3, 2009. Some Bitcoin fans like me are already conmemorating Bitcoin this day Wink

"Bitcoin Pizza Day" is May 22, 2010. It's also a good candidate as it's seen widely as the first known use of Bitcoin as money, although I have read some people in this forum putting this in doubt. What's true now? Are there earlier "bitcoin-as-money" transactions? (Really want to know that!)

I also like the idea, however it just came through my mind that as far as i know FIAT doesn't have like fiat day or something like that. So why would us? Tho if we are going to take it further like business innovations then it might really be a good one. Or if the topic is all about the improvements using bitcoin as a medium

If ever, it will be the first currency to be commemorated.
Since there are just few bitcoiner per area, I think it should be done on a single area and all bitcoiners will go there, just like comicon. And OP will organize and finance it since it is his idea.  Grin

Satoshi will decide and set the date and organise the World Bitcoin Day. He will invite all the Bitcoin community leaders and traders and ordinary Bitcoiners to attend the Bitcoin Sumo Festival on that day. He will distribute all of his Bitcoins to his chosen charities.

Well, if this was to happen then the first big question is When? When would you like to have a bitcoin day, any suggestions? Other than 31st October, obviously.
