This miner sucks for heavy on frontiers.. This gives 2050H/s on CN-Heavy while SRBMiner gives 2200 and XMR stak hits 2400H/s..

intensities? settings? for stak
thnx

Hi There!
I do not know about you guys, but I get better performance with CAST 0.9.06 version rather than 1.0.  on Heavy algo.
About 50Hs per Vega or RX580.

Very stable with both though.

I'm getting 1430+ average on castxmr 1.0.0 and only 1330+ average on 0.9.6 using vega 56 stock bios, blockchain driver. Is this where you got your miner? (https://github.com/glph3k/cast_xmr/releases)

Pls fix those th{a|e}n errors in the first post, it is quite irritating. Thanks boss.

Huh!  I may drop back to 9.06 and give it a try.  Are you using Blockchain or 18.3.4 driver?

18.3.4

But you know... it may be just the combination of my MB, Cards, etc...
So mileage may vary.

Well, here’s what I’ve discovered...

Running .9.06 using heavy gives me about 40 HS more on my 8gb cards, but I lose about 100 HS on my 4gb cards, so the net effect for me is a lower overall hashrate.

Next experiment is to run two instances, one for the 4gb cards using 1.0, and the other specifying the 8gb cards and .9.06.

can't mining alloy ...

The current version of Cast does not support Alloy... it has it's own CN variant.

True. There is a specific version of STAK for that variant.

Beside the hassle of configuring STAK, ALLOY hashrate is 50/60% lower than Cryptonight V7, which means that the reward of mining Alloy, at current prices, is lower than Haven or LOKI, for example.

it's normal for the hashes to go down when CryptoNight-Heavy mine?

Maybe an improved amd driver will increase it? Vega fe can do 2000+ on cn-heavy.

It's because Vega FE has 16GB of RAM. Vega 56 and 64 has 8GB

Still don't understand why Vega FE can't do more more normal CN-7 hashes than the 56/64. The CN-Heavy results seem to indicate there's still untapped potential here.
In case of normal v7 vega with 16gb becomes compute bounded. Vega 8gb is memory size bounded with heavy.
It is just like with polaris 8gb and v7. You can set intensity to use all 8gb ram but due to lack of compute units it cannot handle it. But with heavy Polaris 8gb uses all its memory and has the same hashrate as with v7

I'd merit this if I had any left. Always seem to be spending my goodys to quickly  Grin

Thanks for the explanation! Very helpful. Is it just sheer number of compute units? Otherwise you'd think that things would scale with overclocking core, but I've never really seen that to be the case with regular CN/CNV7.

I just tried again with SUMO on v1.0.0
I get the same problem mentioned above. Pool rejects and advices to switch to alternate miner.

When trying to troubleshoot, it was evident the documentation needs to be updated. Neither the help (-h flag), the home page or the front page here on Bitcointalk is updated with information on new algorithms.
Anyway, no luck so far with CAST and Cryptonight Heavy.   XMR_STAK works fine.

Here is the start command if anyone wonders:

cast_xmr-vega  --algo=2  -I 9  --nonicehash  --fastswitch  -S pool.sumokoin.hashvault.pro:7777  -u Sumo-adress.... -p "x" -G 0,1,2,3,4

what is the purpose of -I 9 ? is it to set intensity?
