Yes, the Russian locale is, in fact, the place not only of Russian citizens, but of all Russian-speaking people from the countries of the former Soviet Union: Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, etc.
We have similar situation in Croatian local board, people write there from all surrounding countries (Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro...) that speak same or similar languages.. and we still don't have our own moderator.

As for lenient moderation, for the Russian locale it was a very big vulnerability, because thanks to this, trolls could create shitposts for months containing absolute nonsense, provocations, hatred, etc., and no one could do anything about it. As far as I understand, local moderators cannot ban high ranks, this requires the help of global moderators.
How many active local moderators you have in Russian local forum board?
I was taking a look and it is showing xandry and Xal0lex, but I have no idea if both of them are active now.
It's sad to see that some people are fueled with hate and they are using bitcointalk forum as platform for spreading hate to others... nobody replies to them, but they keep posting...

Ratimov, I completely understand you, but obviously nothing can be done or changed about it.
It would be logical for people to discuss crypto topics on a crypto forum, but it is obvious that external circumstances strongly influence people’s emotions and thinking.
Political topics should still be kept where they belong, in politics, and the crypto part of the forum should be free from political debates.
Everything else is freedom of speech.
I want you to soon reach a level where political topics will no longer be important in your lives.

The Russian locale has recently turned into a home of swearing, trolling and hatred. In 3 years on the forum, I have not seen so much hate as in the last 2 months. Fewer posts are being written about cryptocurrencies and more and more about the politics and hatred of one nation for another.
Sorry to hear that, but honestly I am not surprised that's going on in your local board considering the situation and the fact that both Russians and Ukrainians share one local board. Add on that very lenient moderation here when it comes to trolling, hatred and swearing (even though it sucks what's going on in your board I wouldn't like this forum becoming like some others where you can get banned just for saying someone that he is lying piece of shit or something along those lines) and you get this.

The Russian locale has turned into a place where representatives of two nations call each other fascists, and some create topics and admire the deaths of the dead and wish them all sorts of nasty things.
Is all that stuff at least contained in one child board, or its all over? Anyway, I hope things calm down soon and people focus more on what they have in common rather than what divides them, but realistically speaking I don't think war is ending anytime soon, meaning neither the chaos in Russian board.

I think this is the time for moderators of the board to sit up and regulate the board by deleting anything that will instigate hatred and division in the board.
While it sucks what's been going on there, I am not sure that it would be a good move long term. This forum is one of the rare places where you can say what you think (excluding death threats) without being in the constant fear of getting banned, and if you start making exceptions it might become one.

The Russian locale has turned into a place where representatives of two nations call each other fascists, and some create topics and admire the deaths of the dead and wish them all sorts of nasty things.
This is very unpleasant. It looks like there is a kind of cold war ongoing in the Russian board. I noticed it when some Russians started making topics in Meta calling theymos to close Russian board, some called theymos to create a Ukraine board.
I think this is the time for moderators of the board to sit up and regulate the board by deleting anything that will instigate hatred and division in the board.

Excimer has about 8 topics in the first page of the Russian board. It seems he has a motive, I know his activities may not be welcoming to some Russian board users. Some might have ignored him.

This is unpleasant. We cannot forget that this forum is not about politics, nor about social issues, in a generalized way. It's to debate independently about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Of course, we can talk about issues that affect society, but this should be done in a moderate way, in order to avoid this type of situation.

I hope better days for the Russian local board.

This user is also active in the English section, and the number 375 does not mean that he wrote all of them in the Russian locale.
That shitposter and troll indeed made 375 posts in Russian local board during March, as in that table of the most active users I count only posts written in local boards. His total post count for March is 427 so yeah, he's been active all over the place.

If Nigerian Local Board was to be a full board with child boards, my post count will be higher than 21.
Not just yours but probably everyone else's there as I can imagine how inconvenient is to write about everything in one topic. Nothing else to do other than remaining active there and hopefully one day you get your own local board

So, are the 375 posts not a problem to the Russian board or is he a good quality poster?
He is a troll that became especially active ever since Russia invaded Ukraine and that explains his high post count.

Uchegod-21 [21]

I made 21 posts last month, not because I wanted my post to coincide with the numerical suffix of my name. It is because the Nigerian unofficial local board is like gambling discussion threads where several discussions are happening in one thread. Most times, at my leisure, I will want to make upto 5 posts in my local thread but I will end up making one because I will have to wait for another person to reply before I can post again to avoid spamming. If Nigerian Local Board was to be a full board with child boards, my post count will be higher than 21.

Excimer[375]
When I saw this, I rushed to his profile believing I have seen a high rank high quality poster. But I was surprised to see that he is a full member and has about -7 tag from DT members. Ratimov raised a flag against him and many others supported the flag. So, are the 375 posts not a problem to the Russian board or is he a good quality poster?

Another good month.
This time I didn't come first, we know why. But it was a lively month, in general.
Hah yeah, that troll was spamming all over the place so no wonder that he ended up at the top. Nevertheless you still did great!

It represents the number of total posters on each board and merited users (note that the Turkish number was missing). Trying to complete the analysis, I also plotted the ratio between the two numbers.
Looks interesting, I haven't thought about these kind of combinations but might as well play a little bit with it. Cheers!

Don't you think it's an excellent chart? It would be nice if you could gather up more charts in one scenario. But, If you put a lot of info on a single image, Sometimes people can be confused. Still, this chart looks acceptable to me. I am not asking Rikafip to follow these methods Because if you can brief as many details as possible (Which you are already doing), That will be easy to understand.
Yep, chart looks good and I will certainly think about doing something similar in the next overviews, if I can implement it properly.

You even added a few nice charts to your post, which surely tell another part of the story.

To show that last month was not a fluke, here is another monthly overview of the local boards that is released in the reasonable time frame. As always charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space. Thanks guys for your awesome tools!

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Nigerian, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards. Not yet at least.

Post activity per local board during March 2022

After few months of decline, we finally have increase; during March 2022, 19044 posts were written across local boards which is 7% increase compared to February. I honestly expected for this decline to continue but I am glad that I was wrong. As always, Russian board is far ahead of the other and that number is even more impressive when you take into consideration that in order to access bitcointalk from Russia you have to use VPN. Rest of the top 5 consist of standard names: Turkish, German, Indonesian and Portuguese boards, while similar situation is at the bottom that is also occupied by usual suspects.

When it comes to biggest gainers, only 2 really stand out, and they don't even have their own local board, Pakistan and Nigerian. While in February  Pakistan post count was already impressive 301  in March they had 696 that is 130% increase that puts them at very high 6th spot. Regarding Nigerian, their increase is impressive as well; from 191 in February to 348 in March so that makes it ~78% increase.

Number of posters per local board during March 2022

Even though there was a decent increase in the amount of posts written, that was not followed by the increase of active members as during March 1359 users wrote at least 1 post, while February number was slightly higher, 1396 users. Given that fact, numbers are very similar to the previous period whihc is kinda expected anyway as new members don't easily come and disappear but rather people increase or decrease their activity.

Post/user ratio per local board for March 2022

Due popular demand and suggestion, I am introducing new chart that shows post per user ratio across local boards. As expected, more active boards tend to have higher ratio as it makes it much easier to enter into discussions if you have more different users.

Merit shared per local board during March 2022

The increase of number of posts was followed by merit increase; during March. 6981 merits were shared that makes it approximately 10% increase compared to February during which 6340 merits were shared across all local boards. When it comes to ranks, no surprises there: Russian is far ahead followed by Turkish, German and Italian. Top 8 is almost identical to February, with only Indonesian board dropping few spots down.

When it comes to biggest gainers, three  boards that stand out are Pakistan and Italian. Italian board increased merit shared by ~36% (from 539 to 736) and that is  a very good result for such a big board, while Pakistan board had the biggest increase, from 130 in February to 200 during March and all that while not even having their own local board. Worth mentioning are also French and Nigerian who also had decent increase but imho those numbers could be even higher.

Regarding decrease of the merit shared, the only local board that stands out is Indonesian that had 322 merits shared during March, which is almost 40% decrease compared to February and 536 merits shared.

Merit senders/receivers per local board for March 2022

As always, pretty straightforward chart. The only difference I may make in the future is to sort the boards by total amount of senders/receivers and not based on the amount shared like I was doing for now.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for March 2022

More or less the same names are at the top, with Dutch board kinda screwing up the chart. Such a high merit/post ratio tends to happen with less active boards as its very easy to affect it by reltively small amount of merit shared. like it happened in March. That's why I introduced the 12 month average part so it gives a clearer picture of what's really going on in the local boards and to negate these amplitudes.

The most active members per local board during March 2022

And for the end of this monthly overview, list of the most active members across all local boards and several that are yet to get that status.

And shahzadafzal and Sayeds56 for Pakistan.

I will try my best to increase my own quota of contributions in the Nigerian Local Board.
I will also try to increase my contributions in Pakistan local board.

You don't have to agree with me based on the facts and statistics I have in the Local Board Indonesia. I may agree that some posters whose posts are not considered valid posts for the campaign can also be active on the Local Board, but I can say that the number is very limited.

I admit that being active on the Local Board is one of the joys of anyone who wants to contribute to their Local users. A number of interesting topics will really help us to be able to do this, but contributing to the Local Board is not only about how many posts we have but by distributing merit to quality posts also makes us contributors.

Apart from that, I can also say that when one finds it difficult to get merit on the global board with English then they are expected to get it on the Local Board mainly because of their good mastery of the language.
That could be true, but that can only happen on some local boards with dedicated Merit Sources, i mean, some local boards/threads do not even have a Merit source in their local section, thus the distribution of merits there would be more or less low, and if a user from such locale decides to post constantly on their local section solely for merits, then they will be disappointed and leave sooner rather than later.

Having said that, i personally feel that most 'local board posters' are not there in search of merits or cause their campaign counts local post, i mean, for instance there are users who post on their local board even when they are not on any campaign. Local board just has this nice feeling as you are discussing with your country men/women about local issues that concerns you all and everyone in there understands it all well as they are likewise having such experience.

I will try my best to increase my own quota of contributions in the Nigerian Local Board.
You will not be forced to contribute to your local higher especially if you can write English well and correctly. Also I see there is a dynamic in the number of different contributions between the posters especially if the campaign they are promoting doesn't count Local posts. Usually the number of posts from these users on Local will decrease as they realize that the posts will not be paid for.
I disagree with your last sentence because there are still users whose local board posts are not included in their weekly post quota, but they are still much more active than most users whose local board posts are included in their weekly quota; what attracts most users to local boards is the nature of discussion. I've been idle on my local board for a while now because there aren't any topics that I'm interested in.

This is a good statistics. I think I have come across this kind of local board statistics from a different poster or it can be this one.
I was looking at the first two most active contributors in every local board and it was beautiful and fun.

Haha yeah, our numbers would be much lower if it weren't for him. Then again, almost every local board has its own slackovic that is way more active than everyone else.Cheesy
I think this word should by definition be universally accepted in bitcointalk forum as most active local member.
So when we look other local sections you could say that joker_josue from Portuguese section is the Slackovic of the month, as the most active member from all local sections.
You can also award local slackovices in each individual local section, and you can even use shorter version slacko or have deidcated slacko-badge.

Haha. You guys are funny. I normally don't look at the posts where I get notification about being mentioned because it's normally some statistic stuff. But now that I was mentioned so many times in this thread, I had to take a look. I'm glad that I'm being recognized as a valuable member of our local section Smiley
