I dont understand the bios modding. What am I to be changing on my Polaris cards I am only get roughly 20mh/s out of them on ETH.

When i load the bios following instructions, they say change timing, the timings are all kinds of crazy hex numbers.

I also get an error about my bois being too small

You cannot use GPU-Z to save the BIOS as it only saves half of modern bioses. You must use ati flash to save the bios. You are copying the memory straps from either 1500 (hynix, micron and elpida) or 1750 (samsung) and pasting it to all memory straps higher than it, such as 1650, 1700, etc up to 2000 or higher. This makes the memory run with tighter memory settings so hashes more. But it can also make the card unstable and/or crash.

How do I tell memory brand... also I am using ATI flash to pull them. They appear to already read as 2000 as thier default memory speed?
When you start GPU-Z, it reports the memory brand. Also use the following article for BIOS flashing as it tells you the correct Polaris BIOS editor version to use in order to get rid of the craxy hex numbers you're seeing:
http://1stminingrig.com/sapphire-nitro-rx-470-8gb-oc-bios-flash-mod-tutorial-hynix-samsung/

Okay all m y cards are hynix so I can OC them a bit? My screen for timing looks nothing like his.

Can't undervolt/overclock with AMD Blockchain driver even with v10.0 Sad I know we can do that with Wattman, but I don't want. And with Afterburner we can't undervolt memory and it's limited.
Is it planned in next update ? Thanks Smiley

Is there an other possibity for fixing the DAG epoch issues for Ethereum mining than the aug 23 blockchain driver?
I ask this because in my side, i have not found any way to run the blockchain driver with stability on my rig 8 gpu's under Windows 10, therefore i see the drop hashrate and i can do nothing to solve this issue at this day.

Thanks in advance for help.

PSU/RISER PROBLEM LIKELY--

I agree with Klassje.  It is likely that a riser is bad.  Old, skinny-version risers get really hot and sometimes melt with dual-mining, and even new risers go bad.  It is interesting to note that if the problem occurs, the "511C" figure is common.  I have had the same readout; the card was good but the riser was bad.
I would stop the rig and change risers before mining again.      --scryptr

And which risers are better to take?
I have a 6 version with a black wire....like these ones: https://ru.aliexpress.com/store/product/Black-0-6M-PCI-Express-PCI-E-1X-to-16X-Riser-Card-Adapter-PCIE-Extender-with/1826735_32789606816.html?spm=a2g0v.12010608.0.0.81bf1c12u9nXF

RISERS ARE EVIL CREATURES--

Your riser looks ok, but there are many variations that look the same.  I use a riser that is v006c or v007, depending on the manufacturer or the distributor.  It has a PCIe electrical connector rather than a molex.  I started changing out all my old, skinny risers when I noticed the thin power connectors melting.

I cannot give much advice for which riser, but switching out a riser will often solve the problem.  The PCIe connector is more sturdy, thicker, and less subject to heat damage than a thin molex, once standard for floppy drives. The larger molex on your riser is often difficult to connect because the pins push out-of-position.

Keep spare risers handy, find a good source.  I am in the USA and shop Amazon.  MintCell is an Amazon retailer that has good risers, but even new ones fail.

Good Luck!       --scryptr

Claymore 10 + blockchaind drivers aug11 + patch + Win 10 creators + rx580s = the most stable mix until now!

When -r 0 no more system freeze, it just restart the miner smoothly. Fans are back in control when set the temp, voltage can be controlled (I have to figure it out why I can't go lower than 0.938 v). Overall, this is the most stable version ever. Thank you man!

you are correct I also just noticed this, no more system freeze.

"Our test bed idles at 138 watts and the entire system consumes an average of about ~385 watts under load while mining."  Big difference than that clickbait 130w.

Well I have the following setting

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

and I get this
Quote
15:50:49:804   1634   ETH: Stratum - connecting to 'eu1.ethermine.org' <188.165.226.213> port 4444

15:50:49:896   1634   parse packet: 71
15:50:49:901   1634   ETH: Share rejected!

E: Fixed it, it was the ETH Adress that was wrong. But now I get the CUDA error - cannot allocate big buffer for DAG. Check readme.txt for possible solutions. Error

Now the money is free, and so the people will be
So, I flashed the BIOS on my second card (it had only been mining at around 4MH/s....) and that didn't do anything. I saved the bios from the working card and flashed it to the second card and noticed literally zero change in performance. How the heck do I fix this and get my second card operating at full capacity?

YOu have the infamous 4mhs bug.  Usually resolved by restarting the rig while connected to a monitor, connecting the gpu to a monitor, or getting a dummy plug and connecting it to your GPU.

I have a problem, I downloaded the Miner, it adjust the settings I added in the start.bat after it adjusts it, the commando window closes itself. Any idea what to do?

add "pause" without quotes on a separate line in the .bat.  You will see why it closes, or check the log file if it had time to write one.  could be many things.

I am using XFX 470 cards, I have difficulty setting voltage for some cards: some can be 888 mV, but some cannot down to 930 mV. I am using Afterburner 4.4 beta 16, win 10, lastest blockchain beta driver, and claymore 9.8.

Anybody knows this issue?

Anyway, my rig run quite stable: hashrate does not jump, power consumption at wall stable. I just want to reduce heat on some stubbone cards a little bit.

Afterburner 4.4.0 Beta 16 is working for me. I have no problems setting the power limit and undervolt with eight AMD RX 4XX/5XX cards.

Hi!

I have 2 rx470 8GB cards with modded BIOS, aug 23 AMD driver installed, and OverdriveNTool for oc.
I have 2 questions:

1, If I mine ETH+DCR I have 51/1550 hashrate, if I mine ETC+DCR than 48/1440. WHY?
2, If I use claymore 10.0 I have almost 1 mhs less than with claymore 9.8 with same settings. WHY?

THX for answers. Smiley

Fail to plan, and you plan to fail.
Claymore v10.0 + AMD 23rd Aug Blockchain Drivers = Stable.
MSI AB beta settings keep getting reset, other watttool like utilities also suffer the same fate.
Uninstalling/Removing all tools and using Claymores built in ccore cvddc etc settings, and setting hash target is working fine for me for now.
I read claymore mention its a problem with the AMD ADL and it (may) be fixed if there ever is another blockchain driver update, or if this "fix" finds its way into mainstream drivers.
In the meantime, does anyone have a better solution to getting under-volts stable on Windows? The whole reason I was on windows all this while was the low low power consumption a simple tool like watttool could enable, now I might as well switch to smOS or something.

to increase hashrate, you need to mod your bios and edit your memory timings.  Also, underclock and undervolt to save electricity and overclock the memory.  Its not plug and play, but there many guides out there, youtube videos and bitcointalk posts.  You could always check my website there is a section on bios flashing.  at your own risk.  no one said it was easy but for a little effort you will get 30% more hashrate for less power usage.

what is the website?

It's in his profile, http://www.cryptominingtalk.com
