at this point are any of the chips even worth getting? I've already paid burnin, but I'd rather get back 50% than 0% at this stage

There was a promise of many many batches of chips to be received by Avalon this week past.
Of course, by now I should be used to the lies of Avalon, but I live in hope. I'm just glad my order was tiny, relatively speaking. I want my bitburners more as a historical curio rather than as a money-printer.

Not sure if I can ask for a refund for a batch in 'Prepare-shipping' mode will be accepted, but if delivery takes longer than the queue needs to grow beyond 10k, I will at least try.

Today, the order status of our three remaining batches changed to 'Prepare-shipping', hope this means we'll see the chips soon.
Future Refund Requests
I have been contacted by several users who missed the refund window. I am not sure if the changed order status implies that no refunds will be accepted any more. Anyhow, I'll need to collect enough requests to reach a threshold to ask for a refund of a full batch. Therefore, if you're absolutely sure that you don't need the ordered chips any more, feel free to place a refund request after the given process. I will add your request to the pending queue and ask for a refund, as soon as there is enough demand. Consequently, this means that your request is binding, i.e. can be served at any time, while at the same time it is not guaranteed, i.e. if refund is not processed, you will get your chips delivered.

Pardon my ignorance, but where/how can I say thank you by improving Zefir's trust rating? There is a Reputation forum over in Economy / Trading Discussion, but I couldn't find Zefir there.
Look for one Zefir's posts,under his name (& yours) you will see the word "Trust",it looks like this: Trust: 0: -0 / +0(0)
Click the word & look for "Risked BTC:",put the amount of BTC for your "refund/purchase",add a comment in the lower box & hit "submit",DONE!!!!
