EDIT:  We've gotten two .25 BTC payouts from BTCGuild so far, one from GB5 and one from GB6, and should have some name coins being paid out shortly...  Yay!!!

Are we converting the NMC to BTC or paying that out separately? (Which sounds a bit like an excessive amount of work.)

The problem, of course, is that spreading your hash rate across z number of pools means that you might share in 80% of the blocks that are hit, but you'll only get 1/z the reward from each of the pools because you are only sending 1/z shares to each pool.

And, you end up with the same amount that you would have had if you had mined consistently in one pool - which ends up paying you z times as much reward for each block hit but only finds 1/z of the blocks that are found.  I've tested this extensively for many months now, and almost  all of the pools pay out almost identical amounts over a long period of time (meaning weeks) - within expected variance.

Think about it - any pool that paid significantly less would lose users as people notice and move to different pools, which results in the pool finding fewer blocks and finding them more infrequently, which means that more users leave, lather, rinse, and repeat until the pool has no miners left, doesn't make enough to cover expenses, and goes away.

EDIT:  We've gotten two .25 BTC payouts from BTCGuild so far, one from GB5 and one from GB6, and should have some name coins being paid out shortly...  Yay!!!

It would be great to be able to see the graphs should I create an account in BTCGuild? Is there a team to join?

-----
Here is something interesting I found in one of the forums for selecting the pools.

1) Pareto principle solution split:

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle

20% of pools takes over 80% of whole BTC distribution and taking under consideration the splitting KNC computing power between pools with the same hashrate to have share in 80% of generated bitcoins:

- BTC Guild
- 50 BTC
- Deepbit
- Eclipse MC
- ASIC Miner
- BitMinter
- Slush

Then we'll have 80% probablity to get share in every block.

2) Normal distribution and standard deviation rule

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normal_distribution
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Sigma

We should have not fixed hashing power, but it should be calculated daily regarding Moving Average and Standard deviation etc

We should have a share only in pools which are covered in 0.5 STD Deviation from average distribution to maximize incoming bitcoicoins, taking under consideration probabilty and BTC Value

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8x7IPjfIwAbUmpkRERSaTE0Z1U/edit?usp=sharing

So to maximize incoming bitcoins we should have share on those 3 pools

- Deepbit
- EclipseMC
- ASIC Miner

=====

This is very academic approach and could be little bit different from the real, but it's very good base to start researchers to maximize incoiming coins.

ASIC Miner isn't a pool from what I understand its a company, you can buy shares in it but can't actually mine on their pool
 That is correct.
I have been very loyal to bit minter but the idea of using 2 or 3 or 4 pools does appeal to me.

So if i am correct,  we need to mine on all pools above?  If so is there some type of application that will auto switch pools?

Bought hashing cards to fill out my two main boards to 400 Gh/s each.  They should overclock to 550 total without much problem.  I've already pencil moded a number of the hashing boards to 32+ Gh/s with no issues and no special cooling - other than some small fans blowing on them...

Already had bobsag3 buy four hx1050s to power the boxes - should be all set and waiting there.

And no, I wouldn't return products that I purchased and used successfully - that's really low class.

Besides, of the 4 PSUs that I bought, I need one for the Saturn that I'll be keeping at my place, plus another 3 for my BitFury units, so I do have a use for all 4 of them.  And I must have a dozen different cooler master and ThermalTake cases around that I could build new systems in if I wanted to put the PSUs to some other use.  (But I've gotten more into building systems around Raspberry PIs rather than desktops.)

Awesome response.

Another note, considering October is out big month of profit based on http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/c675a3526a what about we hold off shipping till November, is that at all a possibility.  Loosing a day in november costs a lot less than loosing a day in october.
Just a thought, don't know the ramifications of everything else just the costs.

Also what if shipping causes, either a lost shipping delays etc and we loose 2 o 3 days?

The problem is, the heat and power both.   I can't run 4 boxes pulling 7 amps at the wall and blowing out 500 watts worth of heat, each, in my apartment - especially since I already have about 2kw worth of other computers connected...   The addition of the single Jupiter is already causing me to have to run my A/C 24x7 - these places are extremely well insulated.

And you should know by now that if something goes wrong, I'll make it up to the GB owners to their satisfaction.  I've already said that I'll run a third or fourth Jupiter into the GB wallets to cover any down time or shipping delays by KnC.  And if they get dealyed past October 15th, I have 800 Gh/s of Bitfury gear coming around that time that I can point at the GB wallets, too...

Yes i know you would make us whole, i just wouldn't want you do that if it isn't necessary and thanks for this, based on a lot of forum reading this would have been the most successful non problematic GB to date.
I was just throwing out ideas that might not have been thought about that is all.

What bit fury did you get?

I have your 4 1050s sitting in a box, 2x evga 1300s left over from singles, and a much much larger box with 12 HX 1050s. Addicted, yes, problem, probably.

Unless anyone objects, the current plan is to ship this machine (and any others that have shown up) via overnight shipping to hosting on October 16th.  We'll hash straight through the October 15th payout date, and end up just losing one day in the next bi-monthly payout period, which happens to be 16 days long.

I'll get the first batch of GB5/GB6 payouts done right after shipping stuff down to bobsag3.  You can expect to receive payouts shortly after the 1st and 15th of each month...
sounds pretty good to me,but  please add a double box and some bubble wrap around the fans.
Im actually going to advice he take the HS and boards out of the case, and ship them seperately. Should also be cheaper. I only need the 4 boards with chips + HS's + control/power board right? Overnight that to me so I can get them hashing ASAP, and the case can follow slowly.

I would consider the ease of shipping vs cost.

SO not knowing how much this thing weighs, but it is a lot easier to safer to ship the case and all over night, than to pull apart ship chips and board then rebuild at a later date.  Obviously costs determines it all.

Plus are you shipping the powersupply? It might be an idea to have bobsag buy the same one there then to ship it, as that weighs a lot.  plus you can return yours and refund money etc etc.  and it can all be there ready to just plug in and go.

I think that the heatsinks fasten to the case, which would nix that idea.  The whole thing is pretty light overall - about 9 kilos - and probably 5 of that is case.
