Winding down.

I used to visit CMC in my early days in crypto but now I'm more comfortable with Coingecko. It gives me the sort of analytics I need on tokens at a glance without clicking many buttons.

In terms of exchange ranking, both CMC and CG may be unable to get the perfect data for ranking due to common practices of wash trading, bot trading, fake pumps many exchanges indulge in.

I heard that coinmarketcap was sold to Binance. Is there any truth about this news ?

Also i see a lot of ads in coinmarketcap which is another reason i use Coingecko more often these days.

I am not sure if its already bought or not by there was a news few months ago that Binance will buy coinmarketcap.com for 400 Million dollar. That's a lot of money for this domain.

The Crypto Industry’s $400M Cash and Stock Deal - Binance to Acquire Coinmarketcap.com

Binance has since acquired Coinmarketcap close to 8 months now. It's a done deal. I think since Binance took over, CMC has improved on its data analytics used for ranking exchanges. The issue of fake volume due to bot trading and wash trading can be problematic for these platforms to deal with. Everyone wants to feature among the top global exchanges.
I agree with that, there was an improvement. Binance said CMC will operate as an independent entity although acquired by them, but other exchanges does not believe that as they are the top exchange now, and since Binance owned CMC, they can manipulate the data in favor of them.

As we can see in the list of exchanges. https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/

Binance is still dominating, it has a volume of $5 billion now, while the 2nd was only with less than $1 billion.

I just like Coingecko more than Coinmarketcap but i agree that Cmc can attrack users including me due to its excellent domain name. although both of them has their extra specially.for example, cmc recently add a features for "defi tokens", so that people can easily find defi tokens through that list.besides Coingecko shows liquidity of tokens, that indicated by green, yallow & red. That helps people to get idea about what's going on with a token

For me, I will still go for coinmarketcap this is the most reliable site for tracking the price changes of your assets
Yes, but I remember those times when I went to coinmarketcap it was very pleasant, but over time the site became heavily loaded. As for Coingecko, I don't like it either, it is just as loaded.

Previously I faced many challenges with the Coinmarketcap, which takes a lot of time to load the desired page. But still, it is taking a lot of time to load the pages, Coingecko is not taking much time to load the pages and as of now, coingecko is a good way to find out details about the specific coin.

When i come to know about crypto industry, i go to Coinmarketcap for checking bitcoin price along with others altcoins.Coinmarketcap was so fast at that time but nowadays it loads very slowly, need few minutes for complete loading of its each features.that's so disgusting & that's because i shift myself to Coingecko, more fastest & light weighted website, that's provide data as same as Coinmarketcap do

I use both of those whenever i need.but I like Coingecko much, although don't see much difference between them.both are samilar, not have much change.but i notice one thing, CEO always gives piority to Coingecko cause Coingecko get paid first than Coinmarketcap, when it list any project.that's why sometimes i need to visit Coingecko for check token price but is not listed on Coinmarketcap!
Whenever coinmarketcap shows an error, I usually go to coingecko quickly. And the search feature of coingecko is much quicker in response than coinmarketcaps.
I'm starting to like coingecko more than coinmarketcap.

Good thing thay coingecko has the record that includes the market price of the token during the sales period.

What do you mean by that? During sales - ICO or IEO ? or Just history of sales? Coinmarketcap has this feature also - "Historical data".
Comparing overall information and other stuff like summary - Coinmarketcap shows more information. But once again, I dont know who creates this info, but I think the project create this info by themselves when filling "listing data".

It's been a while Coinmarketcap is getting moderate however Coingecko is lightweight and quick if anyone compare these two Cryptocurrency Metrics. However, Coinmarketcap gives the clients most ideal great assistance by giving a lot of data. This procedures Coinmarketcap execute so far to drive massive amounts of engagement and growth as well.
Yes, I agree with you that every users are doing good with coinmarketcap.com due to its information ready provided and the only thing that needed is to browse them in the site.

However, when I use google search engine to browse and and search for a certain crypto it is coingecko that always shows in top of the result or is just that I was looking for a  crypto which is not listed in coinmarketcap and that coingecko has information in regards to it. This happen when I had hold some.tokens which are not yet provided into listing until now. Good thing thay coingecko has the record that includes the market price of the token during the sales period.

I have been using Coinmarketcap since i was a newbie.i perticipated so many project, so i needed to search about those so that i could get some information and then Coinmarketcap provided information about those including price, project age, website, trading pair, including ATH & ATD. Now Coinmarketcap is getting slow & becoming so annoying.hope binance will solve this issue soon

I agree with you. At first i used to visit on Coinmarketcap for tracking my coins or tokens. Then the performance of CMC was great. But now i prefer Coingecko for tracking my coins. Because Coingecko is faster than CMC. Also i think now more tokens are listing on Coingecko than CMC.
Im also feeling the CMC needs more time to be opened in my browser and it looks like so many improvements that have already made by the binance team has been making the site became even heavier than before.

Coingecko is still running very smooth but honestly if coingecko is having a very bad and complicated interface and there must be a lot of improvements for coingecko in the future.
This time I'm still using both but CMC looks a bit better at this moment.

For example, I heard lot that P2PB2B is one of the bullshit exchanges because it has fake volume, but why on coinmarketcap can in the top 3?
Whereas on Coingecko P2PB2B is ranked 114, Does coingecko know if it's bullshit exchange? so it's not in the top 3 like in coin marketcap

So which one do you trust more?

what actually happened is that, if any token got listed in the market without they being updated the prices or volumes may not likely be the same Eg, if you  see a coin cmc and coingecko, they have update it for the price to be the same.

CMC is trusted mostly.
