the reason they traced it from bats is not by testing bats in december/january. and comparing RNA
but the lab studies loads of viruses over many years and collects the rna sequences and stores the DATA
emphasis DATA

the data of human infected covid patients samples. of covid. was scanned into a computer and it was set to compare it to other human virals.
it revealed no other human virals of exact match. hense it was declared 'novel'(new)
however they then compared it to similar viruses and see its in the same family as corona viruses but again for emphasis not the same as sars or mers.
basically meaning its definitely not tuberculosis or ebola as its nothing like them.
so they knew it was corona virus discovered 2019

next they compared it to all the corona based viruses found in all samples previously collected from random wild animals over the years. and spotted bats tested, from a cave many miles east of wuhan had it way before humans

the virus did not 'come from a lab' it came from bats and was just sampled in a lab
the studies reveal that the bat/human comparisons shown such close comparison to show its from the same strain they see there was some NATURAL mutation which is why they feel that it was a bat->pangolin->human cross contamination

usually if it was man made/edited certain pattern of mutation would reveal this.
there is no sign of man made editing
(EG man made editing would be to mix different viruses together. viruses known to mix well using lab techniques.. this has not been the case)

This is a non sequitur. The premise is China used this as a biological weapon regardless of the virus origins. Furthermore, this targeted the rest of the globe, not just the USA. You have fun playing with your whataboutisms though.

We can agree they definitely went out of their way to down play it early on (December/Early Jan).  But I think the most likely reason is the same reason the United States downplayed it in February - if you make a big deal about how bad it mightbe the economy would takes an instant hit guaranteed.  Act like it's no big deal and you might get lucky and be right.

What's more likely, China duped the America into thinking the virus was no big deal while we watched them lock down a city bigger than NYC and frantically build hospitals as fast as they could?  Or America did the same thing China did, play down the virus to avoid short term economic damage in hopes it would just 'go away...like a miracle'

They have already been proven to have hidden the scope of the outbreak while they simultaneously were buying up all the world's PPE so they could sell it back to them later. Accidental leak or not, natural or man made, it was used as a biological weapon against the rest of the world.
