Also in my opinion, focusing only on corruption may overlooks external factors like global economic shifts and unequal trade practices. Especially for countries that heavily reliant on exporting raw materials, they are vulnerable to price swings dictated by global markets.

Yeah we know corruption has been one disputable factor and have been a hindrance to developing countries as well as their economy but it's not like focusing on it has overlooked some other factors no but rather we know that firstly if corruption could be tackled then every other aspect will go smoothly and hopefully there would be change in the economy.

With developing economies of the world struggling to stand and be among the top Economies of the world and compite with the rest of the world corruption seems to be the biggest problem that is bedeviling developing Economies of the world, mostly African Economies.
Am of the view that these Economies will not have any meaningful economic progress until they deal with the problem of corruption in their countries because looking at these developing Economies most of them are very blessed with mineral and human resources but what is the problem that they can't even afford their citizens with the basic necessities that they need such as good road's, electricity, access to quality health care system and a access to quality education system.

Until corruption is done away these Economies will continue to be puppies in the world

Corruption is a big killer of any country that wants to develop. When corruption remains, it becomes very hard for any country to progress and everything they have and do will eventually turn back to retrogression which is bad for any developing nation. In the past, colonist are been blamed for these countries not to progress but even after they are been given independence, they still destroy their own country because of their selfish greed and self entitlement they get from been in power. I know how bad the economy of a country and the livelihood of citizens are been shattered due to corrupt leaders they put into leadership positions. It is not easy to eliminate corruption totally, but if it’s tried, it can be reduced to some bare minimum that can be better than the former state. It’s a gradual process before it can be eliminated totally.
Corruption is indeed the biggest enemy for a country, because the country not only has to compete with other countries, but they also have enemies under their covers which are actually their biggest challenges.
Yes, you are right, a country that was not yet independent in the past blamed colonialism as the cause, and when they were independent they had to face their own people. Maybe even the colonizers could be free with the help of the natives who worked with them, and they innocently blamed the colonizers.
Not meaning to assume that it is true, but this is a more complicated job because you have to face an invisible enemy.

From what you say ,  I guess you are from Bangladesh and I have also heard about what happened in your country. Can you tell me how things are in your country with the new government and regime? It would be great if local people shared what is really going on there instead of the media.

Also , I don't want to be negative but I want to remind you that the nature of politicians is the same because they are also human and they have greed. There is no guarantee that the new politicians, the new government, will not be as corrupt as the old government. I say this because my country went through the same thing, a new government but things are still as bad as the old government.
Let's hope that these politicians will do better and bring more benefits to the country but don't put too much trust and expectation on them .Because they can change after a while when they are in power .
The situation in our country is getting better. After the movement ended, there was anarchy in our country for a few days, extortion was going on, and various bad things were done, as you may know. But after the army took power in our country, the country slowly relaxed. The media that used to spread propaganda became cautious, and now only good and true news is reported. Although it will take us some time to turn around, I hope we will be able to reform ourselves very soon on our path.

However, there has yet to be a party government in our country. You may know that the current Chief Advisor of our country is Dr. Md. Yunus, who won the Nobel Peace Prize. And the advisors in various sectors were not under any party government. Currently, the work of reforming our country is ongoing. However, reforming will take time for everything to be right or normal. However, we are walking on the right path. As long as we are running the country under the Chief Advisor, I believe something good will happen to the country.

You are right that it takes politicians little time to change their minds. If politicians worked well and according to the rules and regulations, every country would move forward very well.

Brother, there have been and are being various types of embezzlement in our country. But we can certainly hope for the person who will bring the Chief Advisor after the fall of the dictatorial government of our country. During the dictatorial government, all his party leaders took their bank balances, embezzled everything, and many fled. They have completely emptied the country's reserves. Since the anti-discrimination student movement, we can see a ray of hope for the country to turn around. We can certainly hope for the current Chief Advisor, because of him, our country is gaining a new identity. Many changes will happen in the country, I hope something good will happen to our country.

If nothing good happens this time, then you think that no other good thing is possible for the country by any party government. However, the direction in which our Chief Advisor is walking is good. The Chief Advisor is enough to make Bangladesh gain a new identity in the court of the whole world. I think the students chose the right person after the anti-discrimination student movement.

But it will take us a while to turn around, we will have to wait and see what happens next.

Not only the people of your country do not embezzle people's money or resources for their own development, but the people of my country are always busy thinking how to improve themselves and how to increase their bank balance. In my country, it can be said that the highest level of corruption has been reached, especially when the political parties are corrupt, the following small organizations or individuals continue to commit the highest criminal activities related to corruption. The structure and infrastructure of my country has not improved at all, but the upper echelons have always been busy planning how to bankrupt banks and launder money abroad.

I come from one of such countries and it is indeed a sad reality, in my country, individuals vie and struggle for public office, not because they want to make a change in people's lives, but because they want to enrich themselves through stealing public funds. Corruption is a huge problem in third world countries, and until it is eradicated, they cannot make any progress.

A country where corruption thrives cannot reach its full potential because there would be poor circulation of resources which could lead to stagnant growth of the countries economy. I'm from Nigeria and my country is blessed a lot that is able to generate revenue constantly to increase job opportunities, and provide for the poor but those in power take all of these for themselves leaving the masses in poverty. Corruption has been the major issue affecting the growth and developmental growth of the countries economy. This would keep on happening if the people don't change their mindset about money and power.

Well you are wright, but one of the most difficult task to accomplish is fighting against  corruption,  almost Evrey nation or economy of the world is corrupt. Politicians preach or talks about corruption but yet they are propellers  of corruption. For any nation to accomplish the mission to stand out as one of the best or top economy of the world, they must really Need to work on currupt practices.

Working on curruption begins with providing basic amenities to the less privilege, or providing skill acquisition for unskilled and ready people,   providing job opportunitys for the jobless, enhancement of free Medical to the sick that has no helper.  Scholarship program for the educated people with no sponsorships.  There are many things to do for an economy to revive and stand out to be the best amongs the rest.

Corruption is an obstacle to all the development of a country and no matter how much you envision the development of the country if there is corruption in the country then you will never be able to progress towards development. Especially if we talk about the development in my country, then the development is completely zero, but the country is at the top in corruption.  Especially in a country when political parties are highly corrupt then economic solvency can never be expected in that country. My country Bangladesh is so politically corrupt that it has a foreign debt of 95 billion US dollars which is not going to be repaid at the moment no matter how much foreign remittances and domestic efforts are made. 95 billion foreign debt is due to government party corruption alone.

it's always such a disaster and a really bad combo when the money that got corrupted is a foreign debt, basically you got interests that need to be paid and on top of that money just went missing.

so far there's no effective way to uproot corruption, it's always coming back, I think it's finally the time we propose different approach to prevent corruption through the use of transparent ledger like blockchain, only then we can maybe find a way to prevent corruption.

Terry Gilliam's "Brazil" posits that corruption is necessary when a government is defined by incompetence and indifference. This is not a matter of top-level economics though - the individual sparks of action being done competently doesn't make up for a broken system.

Corruption can also make it for monopolies to grow exponentially. That bribing an official to push things in their favor thing will be more in favor of the already established corporations. On a higher level, corruption is not good for any country. india is an example of that.

Big businesses have huge monopolies in the country, while the average person works on low wage high living costs and can't even imagine starting their own business. Even if they did, it will most likely go down, albeit due to other factors and now they'll be heavily buried in debt.
When any country will face the corrupted people dominance then there will be bad time of country because most of people will be on the seats who are not eliofir the seats . Now we are watching corruption in every country of World but percentage could be different because every country has different kind of people. But leader of country should work on that point because it will damage the country and in the country where corruption is more there will be no prosperity and poor people will be more in that country because they stole their seats by paying money. That should be goal of every good leader to work on corruption and he should run campaigns and after he will emit the corruption from country.

I think that corruption is a burden for any society. In Spain for example, billions of euros have been squandered in pharaonic constructions,
without any utility or real benefit for the towns or cities where these works were built and have been given to friends and / or relatives for many years.
In addition to the typical corrupt practices, in advisors, finger positions.

Being the Spanish debt in September 2024 of 1,626,065 million euros.

Trust the process, imbibe consistency
Corruption is mostly the reason most of those economies are developing rather than being develop. I will use Africa for instance, without corruption, most African countries have no business with poverty because the resources they have can transform the country into super economies. But the few elites are entangled in corruption hence they prefer to sell their people for their selfish interest. Nigeria for instance, is one of the richest country in the world by natural resources yet they are not able to use their resource to transform their country and you should already know they reason for such a terrible situation.

Corruption is the greatest problem to developing economies especially the African continent when has been attacked by the virus of corruption, I totally agree with you on this point that you raised that these developing economies will experience little or no development in their presents state of corruption, because corruption has really eaten deep into the mindset of the citizens with everyone thinking of how he or she will steal and make their country poorer

Corruption stifles economic progress by distorting markets, discouraging investment, and undermining public trust.
It exacerbates social inequities by diverting resources away from critical services and erodes democratic government by weakening the rule of law.
When jobs (or contracts) are given to people (or companies) who offer bribes or share a personal connection, this occurs to the detriment of competition. The result is that more qualified candidates and firms are turned down. The more widespread such practices are, the more inefficient the economy becomes.

It cannot be denied that corruption has a negative impact on a country's economy, which results in the inability to generate enough income to compete with other countries. Corruption can cause foreign investors to no longer trust the legal system in the country, overall corruption can worsen state finances and state revenues from taxes will decrease, the effect of which will have an impact on increasing poverty rates. So crucial steps are needed to prevent corruption such as building a strong legal system and effective monitoring mechanisms, the government must work together with all levels of society to combat corruption in order to increase the country's economic growth.
Almost all countries are struggling to eradicate corruption, because corruption is an act that is detrimental and worsens state finances, especially in improving the welfare of its people. The impact of corruption is very large for the country and corruption usually occurs because Materialism is the main cause of corruption, where success and success are seen from what is owned by the naked eye. People compete to achieve this success even though in a cunning and dirty way. Coupled with weak law enforcement, corruption will continue to exist and will even become a culture.

This happens in my country Indonesia, even though its natural resources are abundant but its people are not prosperous, this is all because many officials are corrupt, even they are systematically corrupt. Corruption is ingrained and rooted in the world, especially in poor and developing countries including me, Indonesia. Even if you look at the ranking, Indonesia is ranked 90 out of 176, this shows that my country is not the best.
Governments claim they are trying to eradicate corruption, that's not true. Those are lies they tell the people to give them hope of a better future. These politicians benefit from corruption. Every country has means they generate revenue capable of providing infrastructures and some basic amenities for its people, but every year, the state of most of these developing countries remains thesame with very little or no improvements at all.

What does the government do with revenue generated from taxes paid by millions of people and corporate bodies?
What do they do with borrowed funds which they easily run to at every slight chance?

The government knows how to improve the country's economy if they are really committed to it, but you know what? A corruption-free country is not profitable to politicians and their likes. So while the country's economy keeps suffering, the politicians keeps accumulating wealth.

...there should be better politicians running for position and voters need to make better decisions for the future of their country

Perhaps this is the only solution to control corruption in countries where corruption is rampant. But it will not be easy to do this because corrupt politicians will do everything to prevent it from happening. Also, there is no guarantee that these politicians will not become corrupt after being elected, and that is also why people say that politicians are not trustworthy.

Honestly, I don't believe that corruption can be controlled, let alone eliminated completely, because greed is part of human nature. Can any of us guarantee that if we are politicians, we will never be corrupt? Corruption has been around for hundreds of years and is getting worse, not better. So don't even think about eliminating it.
