I'm running creditsd. If it's just a display issue I can live with it. I just don't want to lose my coins ^^

The error message that you are seeing is ONLY a warning telling that the flag I described is set to false. It affects nothing else. It won't make you loose any coins.

Does the client start as intended or does it halt on the error?

no, it's just running/mining fine. Maybe you can add release tags to the git repo so i can only check out release versions with the flag correctly set in the future Smiley

There is a subreddit related to Credits, although mostly used as a complement at the moment:

Is there any exchanger that will accept CRE at the moment ?

The coin is new so it hasn't been established on exchanges yet.

MRKLYE here is for the moment running a buy/sell ledger. Until the coin is included on exchanges send him a PM.

Any plans for a lightweight client? The idea looks interesting but the requirement that users must download the Bitcoin blockchain might turn off some people from getting involved. Is this a limitation inherited by all BTC sidechain coins?

So far, there is a plan yes. I believe that is what Gabriel is currently working on, as well as dual-functionality between Bitcoin/Credits in the Credit client.

Would be awesome to only need one client for both!

I just built from git and my client shows the following error:

Code:
"errors" : "This is a pre-release test build - use at your own risk - do not use for mining or merchant applications"

That shouldn't be an error, just a warning in the Credits-Qt interface. Are you running Creditsd or Credits-Qt?

If you can't get around the problem in any other way, try this:

Change line 5 in configure.ac to this:
define(_CLIENT_VERSION_IS_RELEASE, true)

and line 18 in clientversion.h to this:
#define CLIENT_VERSION_IS_RELEASE  true

Once this is done the flag indicating release version will be true and the error message should go away.

Yes, there are plans for a lightweight client, and plans for making it possible to point Credits to the Bitcoin working directory, so that it can read the required data from the already installed Bitcoin client, if one exists.

Unless the required information about the Bitcoin blockchain can be acquired from elsewhere, for example an online resource, then yes the Bitcoin blockchain must be downloaded to run a sidechain.

There are ways to shrink the storage requirement or completely get rid of the Bitcoin blockchain download. These approaches all involve trade-offs, for example disabling the claiming part in the client. There are however plans on getting rid of the Bitcoin blockchain with a specialised client. Unfortunately no time plan can be given yet.

Credits version 0.9.1.30 released

A new version of the Credits client has been released. This is a renaming release reflecting the update to the new name Credits. The client is mostly updated but references to the old name may appear in some parts of the client. Updates will continue to be done in the following releases.

Make a copy your existing version, replace it with the new version and start it instead. The transition should be seamless.

Downloads can be found at:

How much are credits worth? I see that it's not listed on Coinmarketcap. Are there any exchanges where I can buy credits?

Glad to see the new ANN hopefully the name change will help bring more people onboard the CRE train Cheesy

Glad to hear that you find it interesting. Make sure to dig into the code to see why for yourself why it is a game changer.

since you seem to not have noticed yours is the third coin to use *credits.

i wasn't posting FUD , i was warning of another possible naming collision. if that equates to FUD then you need to be examined. I have no problem with people's idea's, just thought you'd be better off knowing that you may end up sharing a name again with another project, and in this case , two other projects.

Bytecoin (BCN) and Bytecoin (BTE) have the same names but most people know the difference. There have been a few similar cases where people ended up buying the wrong coin but if the other coin(s) is/are dead, then it's usually not a big deal.

The coin is new so it hasn't been established on exchanges yet.
