That is so very true that teams like NZ, AUS, ENG will keep on playing in India despite of smog, covid, or terrorism in India. The reason is that money is above all those things and humans do not care about their health but they care only about money making opportunities.

India control will further tightened as bcci is planning to increase ipl operations by including few more team's. Cricket is a game that is played in very few countries, if cricket gets its central control in India rather then in hands of icc then as a game it won't progress. Not to forget ipl is ban for people that are not liked by bcci.

There is no comparison of PCB and BCCI. There are very few boards that are willing to play in Pakistan while there is hardly any board that can say no to BCCI. The reason is obvious, nobody wanna lose IPL contracts. For every player Foreign or local, money is supreme thing. Thats why whole world plays IPL in India in April this year despite peak of covid19.

I am not going to deny that. BCCI is literally dominating the cricket administration at this point, similar to a level where the US is dominating baseball/basketball with MBL/NBA. And I don't really think that the situation is going to change anytime soon, given the fact that it is the Indian diaspora which is dominating the cricket boards even in other countries like the United States and Canada. Increasing number of Indian origin players are getting included in teams like New Zealand and England as well.

Since BCCI is leading the cricket administration, its become more of a responsibility for them to further spread cricket awareness in other countries.

Unfortunately, Cricket is one of those sports which is not played widely among many countries.

LOL.. if this is the case, then Delhi should not be hosting any matches at all. The AQI there is much worse than what they have in Lahore. The stubble burning season is in full swing and the air in northern parts of India and Pakistan can be described as "hazardous" if not outright toxic. Ideally no foreign teams should be visiting this region until the air quality improves. PCB did the right thing by moving the matches to coastal city. I guess they have a cricket stadium in Gwadar as well, which is very scenic.

I agree with galambo. Usually I post here, when I need to debate on the ICC funding, associate member status, player issues.etc. These are not specific to any one format of cricket, and therefore I guess this one is the most suitable thread. Anyway, it is manageable. Look at this sub-forum. You can find dozens of threads each for football and boxing. So I don't think that there is anything wrong in having an additional thread for general discussion. Also, I guess this is the oldest thread related to cricket in this forum.

Glad moderator hasn't locked this thread yet. There are more votes in favour of this thread vs against. There is thread for every football league but for all cricket leagues we have one thread here. All other thread are occupied with cricket matches discussion, let this be for general discussion.

I came up with the idea to lock this thread but seeing people wanted to keep this thread open is perfectly fine too provided we keep this thread as active as the other three format-specific threads. I noticed that after a few posts, no one discuss here and after weeks, someone again bumps this thread for a brief discussion and then it again goes into hibernation.

Its a good decision by pcb to play all matches in karachi as lahore is having problems of Smog. Good thing is teams are now coming to Pakistan, Aussies are also planning to visit Pakistan in march next year. If that tour gets underway then it  will be revival of cricket in Pakistan.

Yes, I agree too sometimes we have to discuss all three formats of the cricket matches and it is the best place to put our point of view.

WestIndies team is visiting Pakistan to play three T20 and three one-day international matches in Pakistan. All six matches will be played in Karachi, starting from the 13th of December.

Let this thread live, don't lock it. The other three threads are about T20, ODI and Test. While here we discuss incidents other then these three formats. Recent news about H Pandaya and Tim were shared here. of course we cant discuss them in other three threads. So I am of the opinion that just this thread live.

In white ball cricket they do have ridiculous team, they can even field 2 different teams in limited overs but they seems doomed as far as test cricket is concern. Poor Root is doing all heavy lifting for them.
Joe Root is once again doing the heavy lifting, i thought the match is done and dusted and now England is recovering but they to play the entire day to avoid the defeat and they trail by 58 runs and i wonder how long they can bat once Joe Root and Dawid Malan are gone. On papers they have Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler but it is going to be interesting tomorrow.

Since we have a separate thread for test matches, one day and T20, then what is the purpose of this thread.
I can see this thread was created in 2015 and is the oldest cricket thread created 6 years ago but now it's time that we lock it. Any opinion on this?

This is one of the oldest Cricket thread in gambling section, the other three threads are created after this one. You can lock this one but that will shift discussion here to other three threads. This thread only be reserved for general cricket discussions and not about three formats of cricket for which we have separate threads.

Just curious to know why that news about Pandaya and tim can't be shared in other three threads made for the all three formats of cricket.
On those threads every cricket match and news can be discussed according to the relevant format.

On other three threads live cricketing discussion were taking place and general cricket discussion cant be done there, since they cant be done in environment where scores and match results were being discussed. There are so many threads for football and they all are Active. Cricket has just 4 active threads, let this one live.

OP isn't active. The last active session was during the year 2019. This is the thread that has the common discussion about cricket as there are other threads for different formats of cricket. As the discussions were taking place often, let the thread be active.

Lol England recently got thrashed in 2 back to back series by Kiwis and Indians at their own backyard (Eng vs Ind series is not finished but India is leading 2-1, should have been 3-1 but rain saved the England in the first test). Not to mention Poms were humiliated in the India couple of months back.

In white ball cricket they do have ridiculous team, they can even field 2 different teams in limited overs but they seems doomed as far as test cricket is concern. Poor Root is doing all heavy lifting for them.

Well... I have to agree. England performs poorly in test cricket when compared to the limited overs variety. On the other hand, Australia is one level ahead, when it comes to the longer format. Their players always perform the best in test, and especially so during Ashes. While I feel that England is having the upper hand due to the recent form, they will be digging their own grave in case they ignore the challenge. And as you said, they are a bit overdependent on Joe Root, similar to the case when Australia depended on Smith during the previous series.
Only benefit England could claim over Australia is that they have international match practice. Australia played their last series against India, on the other hand England has played almost 4 test series. Both team are vulnerable but Australia looks more balanced team to me.

England's new opener Haseeb is good, more like Pujara so i'm expecting few good knocks from him. Stokes addition might help their middle order along with Root.

Burns, Malan, Buttler are miss or hit for their team, in last 1-2 years they looked even worst batters to me. Bad news for Root if he comes to bat at 20/2 every time, that's a English scorecard since 3-4 years.

Btw There is no Jofra and they are resting Jimmy for the first test. English bowlers are good.

-----------------
For Australia Smith-Marnus duo is key but if by any chance Warner gets into the form then they are set to pile up loads of runs.

Based on Sheffield performance Oz middle order doesn't look that bad when comparing to England.

For bowling point of view i hope they rotate their fast bowlers. Playing 5 back to back test is very hard for the fast bowlers, they might ran out juice till they reach 4th-5th match, we have witnessed this from the Australian bowlers when they were up against Indians.

Note : Guys would be better if we move this discussion into test thread.

@Sithara007 I clearly remember it was @JSRAW who had pointed out that England were weak in test cricket, and after digging further I realised he was right about their test team. However when it comes to ashes tensions run high, and even Australia will be under tremendous pressure to perform, hence we may see a very competitive series too don’t you’ll think?.
