RAF-2 Schedule

already - 49,000 tickets given to the NPCC to sell
March 1637 (week from now) - 151,000 tickets given to the living PC/clans in proportion to their achievement
May 1637 - Spoil 90; reduction of # of tickets to ~20,000
July 1637 - Spoil 90; reduction of the # of tickets to ~2,000
Sept 1637 - Spoil ; reduction of the # of tickets to 200
Nov 1637 - Reduction of the # of tickets to 87 ; the spoiled tickets win a TOP or EME
Dec 1637 - Reduction of the # of tickets to 37 ; the spoiled tickets win a SAP or RUB
Jan 1638 - Reduction of the # of tickets to 14 ; the spoiled tickets win a TOPX, DIA1 or DIA2
March 1638 - The remaining 14 tickets win the most precious stones: EMEX,SAPX,RUBX,DIA5,10,20

This leaves enough time to design the coronets with the stones. More gems await in the Hall of Mirrors for those who take this first part of the challenge seriously! Smiley

Time of spoiling is near the end of month (near the end of day UTC).

Market is open and currently a ticket with 0.1% chance of winning is at 17k/9k (hinting at the average gem price of 9-17 mil).

Gems are created under item_type GEM. Current owners are just placeholders.

The haste in the drafting of messages has caused some errors, which are now corrected:

Amber and Jade may be cut in shape to be used as gemstones. At present the standard size of polished Amber plate is 100 g. The jeweler takes the small pieces as his commission, so 1*AMBNP yields 3*AMBP. Amber plates can be used eg in the rim of the coronet. 10 plates are enough. 1*JAD can be made Jade nuggets, 50 g each, so that 1*JAD yields 10*JADN. Do not spend all your unworked AMBNP/JAD on these entry level cuttings though.

AMBNP->5*AMBP ; JAD->20*JADN. Conversion is free of charge. See the properties of the items in the item details.

K10 item
- 6-horse that is very elaborate, pick color, amount of gold and silver  = 140 mil

K9 item
- 4-horse that is very elaborate, pick color, amount of gold and silver  = 50 mil
- 6-horse that is very elaborate, pick color, amount of gold and silver  = 70 mil

The K9 6-horse model is most elaborate of course, yet its price is still raised to 80 mil as well as the 4-horse model described to 60 mil. The K10 flagship is 160 mil. (Note during Noms' tenure, they cost over 200 mil each).

1* 20 ct Imperial Diamond

If it should happen that our majesty does not win the Imperial Diamond in the raffle, we make the reserve bid of 350,000,000 m for it, expiring end-1638 (allowing the mounting of it in some important piece of regalia before the coronation). We take no grudge if the owner wishes to keep it rather, believing that we can nevertheless make our robes majestic enough using other means in our possession.

It is not that we value the Imperial Diamond any less than as of this writing (it is the largest diamond in existence after this round; larger ones may come later in the game). But popular voice warned that boosting the price of a new item group, in this case gemstones, to a very high value in the day of introduction, only causes the valuation to drop in the future, and it is not fun. To preserve the fun, we slash our bid to 250,000,000 m.

RWWC is recommissioning the Carriage Factory - Order Yours

After the merger of RWWC and Phaeton Carriage Works Corp., the united RWWC (now pronounced "weapons" instead of "windows")) alone possesses the knowhow and the monopoly on carriages.

Since HM The King has decided in favor of having a sumptuous coronation event unlike anything celebrated so far in the town or the Kingdom, we will open the Carriage factory for orders.

All carriages are handmade and unique, no two alike exist. Well, so far. We will now offer Fungible carriages for the first time!

The unique carriages are all dated 1637 and can be had in the following item levels and price points:

K8 item = 24 mil
- 2-horse that is very elaborate, pick color, amount of gold and silver (gold, silver no additional cost except material)
- 4-horse that is most elaborate, pick color

K7 item = 11 mil
- 2-horse that is most elaborate, pick color
- 4-horse that is elaborate, pick color (from wood, green, yellow, orange)
(all K10...K7 items are unique)

K6 item = 6 mil
- 2-horse carriage with wood chassis that is painted yellow, a non-traditional color that we are experimenting with (elaborate, fungible)

K5 item = 3 mil
- 2-horse non-elaborate wood-colored (fungible)

For everyone who orders a K9 item, we throw in the K5 as a bonus. For the buyer of our exquisite K10 carriage, both K5 and K6 will be added to sweeten the deal.

Earlier it was recommended that 2-horse carriages need 2*H3+, 4-horse models need 4*H5+ and 6-horse models require 6*H6 level horses. Yeah, to get the most steady gait, that is still the recommendation, but in every instance except the coronation (or possibly even that), it is now established that H3's are adequate for all carriages as far as transportation is concerned. Having the finest horses is a matter of inner contentment, and a qualifier to get more RAF-2 tickets, but not a mandatory requirement for carriage any more.

Please inform me about your orders or preferably cause them to be written in /CARRIAGE1 in the game DB. Billing is automatic.

rpietila II Coronation Raffle

See previous post for the context.

151,000*RAF-2 tickets will be awarded to living PC in proportion to their achievements in several important areas that do not pay regular dividends. Most important of these are this time Wisdom and Horses+Carriages, with several others also contributing. The evaluation will be done in about 1 year from now and exact time announced beforehand. In addition, 49,000*RAF-2 is allocated to the NPCC's who need to get rid of them competitively (sell either the tickets or the prizes before the term expires).

200 gemstones are the prizes so the chance of winning one is 1:1,000. In addition, the players may donate other prizes as happened in the RAF-1 as well.

1* 20 ct Imperial Diamond
1* 10 ct Diamond
3* 5 ct Diamond
5* 2 ct Diamond
8* 1 ct Diamond

2* Large Ruby
20* Ruby

3* Large Sapphire
30* Sapphire

4* Large Emerald
50* Emerald

10* Large Topaz
63* Topaz

The "large" means that the stone is larger than any of the diamonds and considerably larger than the same type without attribute "large". Large stones are good for coronet/sceptre main stones or magnificent rings, small stones for any purpose. ("Midsize" will possibly be added later, now the fungibility is retained by having a bit less categories.) The 2nd batch of stones, given as presents to the Coronation guests, is 180 stones. There are currently no plans to use the remaining maximum quota of about 210 stones. The benefits from allocating the rest of the quota will be enjoyed by the Town.

The tickets will have a preset spoil schedule and the total length of the raffle is about 1 year (all prizes awarded beginning of -38).

The Coronation of HM rpietila II of Crypto Kingdom

It pleases Us to announce that the situations in the Realm enable the announcement of Coronation. This Coronation is the first of its kind, since the event when King rpietila I received his royal regalia in 1530 was not officially titled coronation (it was the Inauguration of the Hall of Magnificence). It was not deemed needed to announce a coronation then, since the late King had reigned for 130 years already.

Year: 1640
Venue: The Hall of Mirrors, Palace of Versailles, 7-C

Invited: All the Heads of the Noble Houses in the peerages of Crypto Kingdom and the counties claimed, all the Barons, Baronets and Knights in the peerage of Crypto Kingdom (heads of clans only), foreign dignitaries near and far, small quota for distinguished commoners.

New feature: Gemstones

New item type: Gemstones will incorporate the shiny stones that will be able to be used alone or mounted in magnificent jewelry. They will come in different types and sizes, and are fungible before mounting. The jewelry may be broken into its constituent items at no cost nor risk of loss.

Royal Gemstones (diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, topaz) have a quantity limitation that is irrevocable. The maximum quantity of all these stones and in all their sizes combined is:
80 per each Clan (whose head is) ranking Grand Duke or higher
40 per each Clan ranking Prince or higher
20 per each Clan ranking Marquess
10 per each Clan ranking Earl
2 per each Clan in levels L6-L13
(will be amended only if the levels system changes)

At present this translates to a maximum quota of 592 stones in total. The ownership by a clan is not limited by anything, the levels above are only used in assigning the total number that may exist. The stones come readily cut in shape.

Other gemstones are: Jade (per 1kg), Amber (per 1kg) and Pearl.

Pearls are fungible and large enough to be used in coronets, as well as rings or other things.

Coronet

(See Wikipedia for inspiration.) A coronet is a crown worn by a non-sovereign noble. It is typically worn only once, in a Monarch's coronation - an event that has never before happened in CK, but in the future will happen more regularly, perhaps once every 30 years on average. It is possible to appeal to the King for the right to wear it in another occasion. Also purple suits have limitations for their order and wear: purple suits can only be ordered by the King, and the owners of purple suits may wear them with a case-by-case permission, or without special permission if they are invited to an event hosted by the King.

The rules regarding the proper appearance of a coronet are as follows:

- A coronet must be indicating the rank of the wearer, but this will happen automatically following the heraldic conventions.
- The rim of the coronet is to be made of gold or silver, and as we remember, gilding of silver is generally outlawed. In case of a coronet, gilded bronze is outlawed as well. Having 2 separate metals is allowed if they are clearly separated, no foil.
- If made of gold, a coronet may weigh maximum 999 CKG, which is our kind guidance since our Crown will weigh 1,000 CKG. In remembrance to the late King whose crown was 500 CKG gold, it is advisable that only Princes and Dukes exceed this weight in their coronets.
- Minimum weight for a solid gold rim coronet is about 200 CKG since gold is soft. In silver, only about 40% of the metal is needed to get the same structural integrity.
- Gold is a preferable material than the cheap silver.
- The most fashionable material for the top is Siberian Flying Squirrel pelt (SFS) of which 10 are needed to make the best appearance. Other materials are available against the IC cost of 10-50 IC
- Use of gemstones in coronets is restricted by the common sense, expressed in the following guidelines:
* Only Peers (Earl+) may wear rubies and diamonds, and the more, the higher they are.
* It is bad taste for peers to have jade or amber, which are for lesser nobles and them only if the finances so dictate
* Up to the level of Marquess, it is fine to use pearls since they are decent and cheap
* Diamonds and pearls do not fit together, emeralds and rubies fit together nicely
* With silver, out of the colored stones, only sapphires give a decent impression
* If a large stone is used, it should be only one of a kind and the same type should not be used in other size

How to get gemstones

Royal Gemstones have a strict quantity limitation. They will be created in 2 larger batches, as follows:

1st batch, in 168 hours ("existing stock")

All clans (characters known to be owned by one person) will be evaluated for their prominence. The formula gives great weight to player attributes, features and items that do not receive their reward in the usual course of the game, rather in this kind of special occasions:
- Wisdom
- Number and quality of horses and carriages
- Ownership of a number of suits, especially unique suits
- SCI and CUL points in possession
- CKS in possession
- Ming China etc similar things

Little if any weight is given to:
- CKG, CON, lots, buildings, current or historical level, counties

Every clan will receive the number of raffle tickets (RAF-2) equal to the evaluation. The allocation of stones happens in about a similar way as in RAF-1 in a multi-round spoiling raffle. There is only one Imperial Diamond.

2nd batch, upon the Coronation ("Gift from HM The King of France")

The stones will be allocated according to His Majesty's pleasure to the guests. "Let the goodness roll!"

The total limit will not be completely used up, in the future gemstones will be coveted prizes eg in Dragonslachts. About 30% of the quota will be unused for now, and it is not intended ever to be reached (to allow for new creation when needed).

AMBNP is being created still from the counties, the total is expected to reach 5,000 kg (1,000 to go). The total quantity of JAD in existence is created already.

Pearls can be converted from IC: 3 IC -> 1*PEA

How to prepare and behave in the Coronation

All Peers are required to wear a proper coronet and a blue or purple suit. Purple suit may be appealed and will be granted if the tailor capacity allows. We will ask the guests to foot the bill for the suit (knowing our illustrious father never allowed anyone except himself to pay for a purple suit - of which  several are still in existence - our intention is not to follow suit). Peers are further required to have a fitting carriage for the procession, and Princes and higher get a special privilege to bring 2 carriages (provided they look nice).

Lesser nobles are required to wear a coronet, which should be of a more modest style than those of the peers. Also a blue suit and 2 people may share a carriage.

Hats are unique personal items (20-50 IC) that may be created for the occasion but it is allowed to wear the coronet instead during whole of the festivities.

Boots are not implemented as a mandatory item but if you wanted to have a pair, now is a good opportunity to create one. Same applies to cloaks etc. The Blue suit is usually thought of containing all the needed items. SFS-items are not needed since it is midsummer.

If suits contain metals, they count towards the jewelry. Rings, especially with gemstones, are much suitable not only for this, but further occasions as well. They can be created using the ordinary "The New Permanent IC Conversion Table" as it stands and mounting a gem to a new ring does not entail extra cost above what the creation of the ring would do.

Orders of knighthoods (AOK-chain, bracelet, baton) are to be worn as well as all medals.

Our pleasure in allocating the 2nd batch of gemstones is heavily upon the guests who prepare for the event with all their heart.

If commoners are admitted, they are to dress in festive orange only, with all the jewels and other goods they can carry, max 2 per carriage, and are required to wear a hat or a "commoner coronet" which must not be made of gold nor silver but may contain gemstones.

Oath of Allegiance

All nobles who wish to swear allegiance to the House of rpietila, may do so in their own words. Literature contains examples. As for the peers, who have fiefs from our House, it is quite expedient if they realise the necessity, even though our judicious father did not deem it a priority.

Coronation present wishlist

Our Royal Majesty has everything, but due to the constraints of time and artistic talent (the latter of which our esteemed father had, the former even less) the treasuries of the Royal House are void of valuables. Jewelry and pieces of Art are most appreciated.

Sign and seal.

As long as there's a plausible reason, I tend to be pretty easy on those rules. So your academical robes are considered fully compliant with the Town's bylaws, DrC. Thank you for contributing to Crypto Kingdom's bold foray into research and science!

How could I avoid the fine if there is no blue suit on sale?

Hello,

We seek to impose only rules that are possible to be followed. The reason that none at all blue suits were for sale was that I am in the process to give all admin tasks to Rakshasa and I was in the belief that he would list them for sale immediately after the Moth, but he was in the belief that I would.

They are now listed, and we are contemplating on starting a new, public admin log from where these kinds of actions could be followed.

The historical cheap price of blue suits (WOS-A1) has lead to near halt of their production except by Labor.

The Cryptotown bailliff is here this week

The bailiff is going to be conducting checks on townspoeple, and hereby warns everyone that these will be performed in september, leaving everyone a few months to ensure the bylaws of the kingdom are respected.

The following nobles have been found farming PIGs: Knight ChrisPop, Knight Martti.

ShadowWalkerJR has been found in possession of 5 PIGs, more than the allowed quota. The town does not want PIGs to overrun the city and imposes a maximum of 4.

The following nobles have been found in possession of DIStillery equipment: Knight Martti.

The following nobles were found to be wearing a commoner's suit: HSH the Prince of Soul, BlackWidow, DrC, ChrisPop.

The following were found to be going around naked: Itrix, Troy, Thud, Baron Angus, Lloyd IV, Sir Paul II of Gangnam, Cooper.

Once again, the Bailliff decides to stay all fines until december (sunday) to give another opportunity to the above mentioned to bring their affairs in order. Similarly, newcomers to the town who have lost their only suit are waived this time round.

Buildings module installation to live server

We seek to overwrite the Lot table in the live Ultima DB (which table has been locked from changes for a decade so that even trades have not been possible) today with the Test system Lot & Buildings data.

When this happens,

- the Lot view will look somewhat different but still quite recognizable;
- Lot trading is allowed;
- Owner can change the Usage of the lot (if there is a building), and see real-time how many shares it would be producing in different pools;
- Lot descriptions and facade pictures can be uploaded in a free format.

Next in line is the first building dividend round, and that will happen tomorrow or perhaps Monday. We will leave some time before that so that owners can allocate the buildings to the pools. (All buildings will draw income from some pool, but some of them are not the most optimal).

Next week the construction of new buildings becomes a possibility.

BLD has given a 12% dividend (in BLD) due to the unfortunate delay in the module installation. The deal with the original S-BLD was that it gives a 2% benefit every year that Buildings is not online, and -2% when it is online. (We might start spoiling it by the average rate of 2% per year now.)

The Great Suit Rehaul 1622

To celebrate the 178th anniversary of introducing Suits into the game (1450 for the Golden Jubilee), we completely rehaul the Suit generation and items system.

A. Suits continue to be in the traditional colors and the colors have their traditional meanings.

Purple - Royal
Blue - Noble
Red - Merchant Commoner
Orange - Festive Commoner
White - Academic (Commoner, occasionally Noble)
Green - Artesan/Other Commoner
Grey - Servant/Military/Poor Commoner
Brown - Peasant/Starting Commoner

G. A penalty for not having proper clothing introduced. With these changes to make it easier for everyone to have proper clothes, it can no longer be tolerated that people walk around dressed in rags. Therefore, let the following misdemeanors be fined as follows:

Class 2 criminal: Minor Nobles [L10-L13]

If a Minor Noble is found without a Noble Blue suit (unless he is a known academic who has always worn white, or a soldier who indicates this by not possessing other colors but grey), let him be fined 5 mil.
For a Noble to be completely without clothes, or only having Brown, it is an abomination: let him be fined 10 mil.

Baron DrC most humbly makes a legal pleading to the appropriate authority within the Kingdom with respect to the alleged criminally of being being found as a noble wearing commoner clothes.

Argument:
1) Baron DrC before the spoil owned three suits. Two white one blue. After the spoil he was left with the two white suits and is currently in the market for a blue suit.
2) A white suit is permitted for a minor noble who identifies as an academic under "occasionally Noble" bold above.
3) The exception "unless he is a known academic who has always worn white" bold above should apply in the case of a minor noble who upon ennoblement purchases one (or more) blue suits which is (are) subsequently spoiled by the great moth. The purpose of this exception is to identify as an academic, rather than to penalizing a minor noble for purchasing one or more blue suits.  Penalizing a minor noble for purchasing one or more blue suits in this situation would go against the spirit and intent of the law.   A similar situation could also occur in the case of the military.
4) The market for blue suits is non existent with none offered for sale.
5) Criminality requires intent or at least willful negligence.

Baron DrC most humbly requests a ruling on his legal pleading regardless of whether he is successful in securing a blue suit in the required time frame.

The cry of the most humble Baron DrC reaches the Royal Court. In matters of discipline and conduct (and in other matters likewise unless a special tribunal or other procedure is appointed), the King is the highest competent authority.

Whereas,

- There is a clear and repeated exception made for "known academics" who are allowed to wear white instead of blue in the guidance of our illustrious father from 1622;
- DrC, more than anyone else in the Kingdom (save Dr.SS), fits the criteria, being a Doctor and also having possessed this coveted level, advanced age, etc.;

therefore, We, rule - not out of our willingness to meddle the subjects' affairs without reason, but because a grief was addressed to us - that:
- DrC is lawful to own and wear white and no fine is to be levied on him for doing so, even if blue is not to be found.

Since, the plea makes it clear that DrC has owned blue suits in the past, and rumors of which a person on the throne of the King can not be unacquainted, reveal that DrC is financially on a good footing, allowing him to equip himself with blue without this presenting a noticeable dent to his coffers nor diminishing of his estate, we exhort him to procure a blue suit nevertheless, and grant a 2,000,000 m stipend towards the purchase.

Blue - Noble
Red - Merchant Commoner
Orange - Festive Commoner
White - Academic (Commoner, occasionally Noble)
Green - Artesan/Other Commoner
Grey - Servant/Military/Poor Commoner
Brown - Peasant/Starting Commoner

B. In addition, a Black Suit for assassins, thieves, pirates, rogues, etc. is introduced. Black Suits may be Cursed upon creation if the reason is explained and may become Cursed later as well. Do not even buy a black suit if your intentions are 100% on the right side.

C. Existing Suits (WOS-xxx) continue without changes, but the Great Moth will start to eat them very randomly (SPOIL script run with a low spoil%). There is nothing to do if the Great Moth has consumed your suit. CKG and excessive amounts of CKS will be credited if this happens, automatically.

D. The most needed suit types, historical colors without precious metals, plus grey and brown, will be introduced as fungible items. Occasionally (next time in 1635) the fashion will change, the new style of these items comes out, and the old ones continue as a bit more historical items. Grey and Brown do not change in style. As these are worn much more than the collectible unique suits, their spoilage is set to 5%-10% annually with higher colors lasting more (not that they last more but are just better kept). As usual, the item is either completely whole or completely destroyed.

WOS-A1 - blue 1621-1634
WOS-B1 - red 1621-1634
WOS-C1 - orange 1621-1634
WOS-D1 - white 1621-1634
WOS-E1 - green 1621-1634
WOS-F - grey (all years)
WOS-G - brown (all years)

E. A new strain of NPC will be introduced, Tailors (TAI1...TAI9). Tailors are found in the Countryside and enrolled by the Counties (given by admin, also Labor might sell them). Each tailor costs the usual salary and automatically produces as follows:

TAI-9: 20*CUL, 20*IC, 3*S-WOS
TAI-8: 10*CUL, 10*IC, 2*S-WOS
TAI-7: 5*CUL, 5*IC, 1*WOS-A1 (blue) every other year
TAI-6: 2*CUL, 2*IC, 1*WOS-B1 (red) every other year
TAI-5: 1*CUL, 1*IC, 1*WOS-C1 (orange) every other year
TAI-4: 1*WOS-D1 (white) every other year
TAI-3: 1*WOS-E1 (green)
TAI-2: 1*WOS-F (grey)
TAI-1: 1*WOS-G (brown)

The North Face Company retains their monopoly to make Royal Purple suits, Black suits, and all Custom-made suits, including all suits containing CKG and CKS. They can make these suits by using S-WOS. Nobody else can use S-WOS for anything, and also they spoil, so it is best to sell them to SirJacket or not even gain them.

Tailors promote somewhat quickly (same as BUT). If your Tailor has promoted but you would have wished it to stay in the previous level, you can ask an admin to depromote it. This might be useful to keep the tailors in TAI-3 and TAI-7 for instance since historically these are the most in demand and TAI-3 even produces twice as fast as most others.

F. GM convenes with North Face about the conversion rate of S-WOS and Bolts of cloth to unique suits (as you can see, no bolts of cloth are needed with TAI-x items usually.)

G. A penalty for not having proper clothing introduced. With these changes to make it easier for everyone to have proper clothes, it can no longer be tolerated that people walk around dressed in rags. Therefore, let the following misdemeanors be fined as follows:

Class 1 criminal: Peers [L14-L20]

If a Peer is found without a Noble Blue suit in his possession, let him be fined 10 mil and be scorned by his peers.

Class 3 criminal: Senior Commoners [L6-L9]

If a Senior Commoner does not have a Green, White, Orange or Red suit according to his trade, yet has something, let him be fined 1 mil.
If found without any clothes, fine is 5 mil.

Class 4 criminal: Junior Commoners [L1-L5]

If found without any clothes, fine is 1 mil.

It is not allowed to fine for the same offence more than once per year.

H. Clothes Market and gifts.

- New players bring their peasant clothes 1*WOS-G with them to the game and it is given to those char_id > 144.
- Otherwise we will have to wait until the first suits are made in 1622. Some tailors are for sale by Labor and let's see if the Countryside tailors get quickly enough. The next dividend round (1622) is the great one producing the "once in 2 years" items.
- SirJacket will readjust the pricing of the unique suits (WOS-xxx). These suits have the advantage compared to fungible suits that they last longer with smaller spoil%, and are often older historical style that many find prestigious.

I. Economic effects. It is planned that about 20% of the commoner income (~1 mil/year in the very start, ~5 mil when a mature Master) should go towards clothing. It is interesting to see whether this will be reached with WOS-G being available at <1 mil, and WOS-F & WOS-E1 also being very affordable.

In addition to the fines for gross suit offences, having enough number and quality of suits is a nice thing and will be noticed.
