I googled this, because I remember a guy, brand new to Bitcoin crying because he bought at around $1,200. And then he was like, he still believes in the idea of Bitcoin, and that it's the future. But it just seemed like he was trying to make himself feel better.

Answering the topic question - definitely yes Cheesy
The volumes sold on that time are telling everything for themselves.

That was hell of a bargain. Shame I never got the chance to buy.

Did you mean you want to buy at $1200 and keep it or sell it at lower price?

The $1200 price was at Mt Gox, it could fake.
After mtgox going scam, straight to bitcoin prices going fall. I know they bring a lot of bitcoin. maybe more than 1000 btc
but why bitcoin prices can go down very sharply, after mt GOX be a scam?

Hey all, just as the title says, did anyone buy bitcoin when it's price was at it's peak ($1200)? And did they sell as it was dropping, or did they still hold on? I personally felt something was happening when it peaked :-/

So, back to the topic. Did anyone buy, and did they sell as it dropped? How much did they lose? Did you feel really really sad? What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?
sadly,i buy at that time, enjoying dream that sometime bitcoin will more better than that price, and now i am relize that it was impossible,at least for this month.

i have found out about bitcoin by that time. one of my friends was mining bitcoin and earning good money through selling the coins, but i did not get into bitcoin which might be a good thing because the price went down from that time but i could have had more bitcoin by now anyways.

I didn't buy at that price but I have to admit I did buy some close to that.
You're lucky not to buy at that time. because I believe they are buying at that time, will lose money until now if they make long-term investment, so grateful was joined after the price

The current price of $ 1,200. it happened in 2013. right?
means I have not joined. since I joined at the end of 2013 and early 2014 when I purchased at a price of about ~ $ 700- $ 900

Yep. End of 2013. 1200 was Mt Gox and some don't think of that as a 'real' price because you couldn't withdraw dollars. It hit $1163 on Bitstamp so that's the real peak for some people.

No, I didn't. I just used faucets for awhile, and found a miner. Mined altcoins and turned them into btc at exchanges. I had a smaller miner

and later I upgraded to a bigger one to make some more altcoin for btc.

No Fortunately not. I bought it for a low price and I am indeed very happy. I think I'm going to wait quietly for a good price.
Because then I'm going to sell and then I have a lot of profit.

I bough some when the price was around $250 last year. I would like to keep the bitcoin for the long time. The price now is also very good.

Correct, that's the perfect strategy to follow, Even I bought  when the price was $250 so at a moment I am enjoying profits but still I am holding it as the price would cross $400 mark in next couple of weeks so will sell at that time.

I have a friend who did it. Ended up selling during the peak in 2015, didn't really understand the currency though, went for some "easy money" and got destroyed  Undecided

That's the problem bitcoin is facing, that people get panic very soon and they sell when the price fall down, and big fish takes the advantages of it, but I really feel sorry for those who bought at that high price and still holding it.
