These days you can gamble at the comfort of your home, your community won't even know that you are gambling, the personal reputation at stake is a later thing.
of course it can damage our reputation if indeed gambling that we do not use common sense because the money spent on playing can be obtained in any way or can be said to be too excessive when gambling because it is addictive, so that whatever activities we do will always be underestimated by public.
Of course, that is why you need to have the ability to control your emotion in gambling because it is very difficult to handle the feeling of win or lose. That will not be difficult as long as you know what you need to do, you don't have to worry to damage your reputation in your society.
But if we are addicted to gambling, it could ruin our reputations in society because they will judge and give a negative opinion to us. But that will not work if we always stay in the right line. The addicting person in gambling will get a negative effect on society, but we can help them to solve the problem so people can accept them again.
What someone does with their own money is not really a concern for most, the problem is if the gambling gets to where I borrow other peoples money even if its legal borrowing then I'm by choice inviting others to place an opinion on what I do for fun and judge me negatively perhaps.

So long as I've never fooled myself into thinking I'm doing much different to spending spare cash I dont find I later have problems explaining myself. My money my business basically.

Lucky that this not happen to me until now,maybe because people know me and my attitude and they cannot say negative or not good towards me,(or they can say outside my knowledge) 
It might affect some people's personal life but in my own case, it doesn't affect me in any way because I don't let people know that I do play gambling since it is seen in our society that people who play gambling are people who want quick money without actually working for the money.
Yes, this is the common man's thinking about gambling. Another thing people look us like an addict even though we spend very little time on gambling. Even if we've lost out of our business or something happened people directly relate it with gambling. In simple they say, this was long expected and now it has happened. To avoid such instances it is good to stay hidden. 
It did in past when I became a irresponsible gambler that even my family almost turns back on me because this is what happen if you live in very religious place that Gambling considered a sinful activity

Well, if I made a gambled in some online gambling site, none of my friends had an idea about what I'm doing.
Because majority of the people when they heard gambling, it is automatically bad in their mind. And I don't want that
to be happen to me, so it is much better to keep it a secret to myself.

It may affect our reputation if we live in a religious area where most people think negatively about gambling. No matter how often we play gambling but if we live in such area then we will get very bad reputation. I dont really care about other's opinion to be honest especially about gambling. As long as I do it responsibly then I dont care if others tag me with bad reputation because of gambling.

I really don't think gamblers are looked down upon the same way drug addiction is. Gambling can cause you financial trouble but doesn't effect your physical health in the way drugs can. A lot of the biggest celebrity names like to gamble including Michael Jordan.

You have a point mostly the people who have bad image in their place is losing their money in offline gambling just likw what you example but if you play through online because you do not telll them that you play it's sti normal and no changes happen but if you tell them that you losing money because you play online that's the problem but we don't care about them because that's our money right? Agreed! This society will never ever run out of comments and generalizations. You do your thing anyway. Your reputation is bad on some eyes as it is good on others. Let them be. Be your own man. Gamble with your money and moderately. Be a responsible gambler. Have fun but never at the expense of your spouse or your children or their future.

I guess it will have a negative effect on someone specially if he turns to be a gambling addict and ruined his reputation because his relationships with someone has been affected negatively.
We all know that there are a lot gambling addicts around the world and we have hear countless stories that the person's relationship and attitude towards his love one has turned into a 360 degrees for the worst. So definitely there is an impact whether we admit it or not.

yes only if you are a popular or reputable person on your place and if you tell them that your gambling or if someone discovered that your gambling but if you will only keep it as a secret and you only gamble anonymously/privately , know one will ever know .

One guy in my place lost an election because of this. He never cared about what people think of him until he was lucky to be given a senatorial ticket; it was at that moment everyone who knew him to be a gambler rose up against him because they felt he wasn’t responsible enough since he was a gambler. For me, yes gambling as an effect on my personal reputation, especially when my friend invited me to a regular casino. We are not a high roller we usually go to the casino just to enjoy and for the entertainment like others, and one time I bet a more elevated amount on roulette and won. I think I'm fortunate at that time because I have an eight winning streak, ending up that my friend idolized me because of what I have done.
You can whatever you want as long as it is moral/ethical. It also largely depends on the law... if your country does not allow it, you should be a bit more careful gambling as long as it does not harm you, the society or other people.

So far, I don't see a bad image of me in society because I don't tell other people that I am playing gambling. Maybe only some of them know that I am playing gambling and they can accept that as they also have another thing that they do. I think every people will have one or two things that they always do in their life and if the other people give a bad image, it will depend on how we do that and what the effect that we got.
And if we are a gambler and we addicted too, then I am sure that our image will be bad in the society because they won't let themselves or their family get the same thing as us. But if we can control ourself in any aspect we did, maybe the society will not give a bad image, but they will advise us not to spend a lot of money inside the gambling.
As long as we don't make bad things and we don't show the dark side of our life, I think they will be fine and accept us.
Your image and reputation can be tarnished by gambling but only to your family members because usually gamblers who have a problem with it in their lives hide it quite well. And unless they mention it nobody would know they have a difficult time keeping this bad habit undercontrol.
