From the experience I had in the past, it would have affected it if I hadn't take charges and correction.
Then, when I started as a new gambler, I was sloping into addiction, using money I should have saved. Luckily, I cautioned myself.
Presently, I can boldly say that it didn't affect my reputation as I gamble carefully.

Good to know that you went so well with your current life status, that it didn't affect your reputation. However on my side here it's really a problem and it really is my concern right now, once I did gambling my reputation was also affected.

The only way to solve your problem is not to gamble or just gamble silently because we can do that nowadays with lots of crypto gambling sites in the space. We don't need to tell people what we are doing, let's enjoy ourselves and maybe tell only the people who knows how to gamble as they are the ones who can usually understand us and why we are doing it.

Everyone stating that gambling will affect someone's image in the society so this is actually happened with you?
I think it depends how you treat gambling, if you're an addicted gambler and doesnt care about yourself and how others look at you then this is applicable. But if you gamble rarely (just like what I do) then I dont have to worry about this.

However if gambling makes you a successful gambler like you became rich through it then I think its another thing.

I've seen the reputation of a gambler quite adversely affected in many cases, especially in cultures where it's considered taboo (and outright

illegal, for example in Islamic countries); then the fact that someone might be gambling becomes a political, religious and rebellious statement

with implications far beyond being seen as a controversial habit...

For me it happened once why are you gambling its a sin in our life I replied its my wish I can do what ever I wanted.

No it did not affect as long as you are moderate on what you are doing and you do not spend all your time in gambling you are ok with it, it's your money, you will be affected if you have no control on how you play but as long as you taking care of business and you take good care of your family, you should not get affected at all.
Yes it’s all your money and I think people only judge you by your power and your income they have no concern with where you are working and what you are earning but they only see your status so if you are getting an opportunity to become rich from gambling just use it and gamble with your all fair way don’t be greedy.
I supported you said but most people who are somehow been affected by gambling are those who don't understand the rules/regulation of the game with the risk involved, are always after the reward involved, gambling without break and indiscipline cause I don't see any reason why someone would be affected by gambling if keep in check all that I mentioned.

No way, my reputation is bad anyway, LOL,, just kidding.

But seriously though, I think gambling is widely accepted in our community and although there are people who still think and judge the old way, as long as it's accepted by the majority of people, I have nothing to worry.

These people who are close minded are usually those people who are less successful in life because they are afraid of taking risk like gambling.
You cant really avoid to those eyes who are really keen on looking others activity specially with gambling where its commonly known to have a bad reputation.(for some countries).

Judgement is there but actually it isnt really a serious matter to think on because anyone is free to do things on their own.Personal reputation? Theres nothing wrong if you do gamble your money either you are seeking to make profits or just purely seeking out for fun.

I believe a person's reputation depends on how he carry himself towards thing.  I don't see how gambling affect a person in a negative way when he knows how to control himself and keep himself respected in everything he do.  Eventhough the community look at gambling in a negative way if you the one who is always present in a casino  help the community to be better and does not do anything against the law, people will see you reputable.  At the end of the day, those who are not reputable use gambling as an excuse to do such dishonorable things.

The reputation of gambling in the past in my locality use to be on the negative side. People who are gambling then are not regarded people but things have changed now that even people that are seen as responsible are also seen gambling. They are trying to make some side money, I don't think is just for fun.

People who are not responsible in managing themselves in gambling should be worried about their reputation getting affected, but not us who are responsible.
Well, people are not having same status of living. And when it comes into my side, Yes and Exactly, gambling really affects my personal reputation. Some people especially my close friends judge me. They said that I am a sinner and because I am gambling. Well, I replied, If I a sinner so be it as long as I don't hurt other people then let the God judge me and not you because you don't have the right to judge me because you are only a human. Indeed, good thing there is only gambling that we can make hide even in our own family that we are in gambling.

The question is, did I believe gambling is harmful or illegal, if the answer is no, then it should not affect our reputation as a person.
Gambling is a no big deal to me, I can live my life even without gambling but I admit that gambling gives entertainment to my life so I love gambling.

People who are not responsible in managing themselves in gambling should be worried about their reputation getting affected, but not us who are responsible.

I don't gamble often so I have not experienced this yet. But to some popular people I watch on news like celebrities, once they gamble the society thinks of them as a gambling addict that their earnings would disappear in the long run. My thoughts on this is it is their own money so they have the right to where to spend it. If gambling is their source of enjoyment then let them be. It is not our fault if they become addicted and ruin their life. It is not bad to enjoy if we worked hard for it.

When one began to do something in excessive, that is when it becomes a matter of concern that reputation becomes an issue. I have friends that take alcohol in a decent manner and they are fine holding decent positions in their various companies but the moment they become drunkards that it begins to affect their daily activities, it becomes and issue of worry. The same thing for gamblers a lot of professionals have accounts on bookiemarts and sport gambling websites where they make wagers every time there is a match. And with the advent of online gambling, it makes it very easy to do from the comfort of your phone or computer when about to reply to a mail and you are good.

In my own case, reputation is the last thing that it would affect because for one, I only play in my free time and when I play, I set a target to be met then roll whether the target is met or not, the moment I exhaust my wager, till the next time when I am ready. Its that simple.

It's a sin if your religion does not allow it, but for me, I play for gambling to have fun so I don't think it should affect my reputation.
People are sinners, I mean all of us, but that only depends on how we manage ourselves.

Our government even have their own sponsored lottery, and there are priest who bet on lottery and even in cock fighting, so they are sinners also, they should be the one to set some example to people because they are servants of God as a priest. Don't be too guilty, just widen your mind because not everything they told you is correct, you as a person should decide on what you believe or not, if you are happy with gambling, you should not feel the judgement of other people because you know you are not violating people's rights.

This should not affect your reputation, provided that if you do everything right, consider gambling as entertainment, and not as a way to pay your bills. If gambling is entertainment for you, then this should not be or become a problem. You play using your free funds, which are only for gambling, you can lose everything or win something. It doesn't matter, actually. The key word here is "free funds", that is, you do not borrow in order to place a bet. Bad debts can lead to bad reputation. Not gambling.

No, and I don't want to get the bad effect on my life because I cannot imagine what will happen to my family and what will my family say to me. I think they will be too sad to see myself are playing gambling without they know and I spend so much money to win the games. So far, I am not like that, and I can handle myself with good. I don't want to be addicted or show myself to other people that I am playing gambling because they will not like me to do that in the next days.

Personally, I have been praised for my success as a poker player. However, I know this would be quite the opposite if I wasn't as successful as I have been.
This.

I don't think gambling, in general, will wreck one's image or reputation. It depends on the situation. If you are a successful gambler, like DarkDays there, your image won't be destroyed. It has a greater chance that you wil be well-knowned or even praised.

The opposite—the destruction of your image and reputation—will just happen if you are a gambler who, when didn't win, becomes so depressed and drunk and worse, becomes addicted to gambling and obsessed with winning; someone who is willing to have tons of debts just to gamble. The result: Affected lifestyle.

Well, as for me, I consider myself lucky. Why? Because I don't gamble very much, thus, I don't have plenty of money. But though I don't have that wealth, at least I have my reputation. That's more than enough for me. Wink

It doesn't affect my personal reputation because gambling is legal in my place and my friends knows already that I'm playing according to my goals and plans. Well, if you think gambling can ruin your reputation, then you must be a hard core gambler or a greedy gambler. Gambling is not bad as long as you're doing it right and you play just to have fun and not to make money at all, our reputation is important of course but don't focus on what people might say to you as long as you are right.

No and not yet. This is the reason why I choose to gamble online than going to those traditional casinos. In my country, gambling is accepted but frowned upon, meaning yes you can walk among non-gamblers and you will not be crucified but expect that someone will talk behind your back. Like example, they will assume that reason why you don't have money today is because you gamble or if you ask to borrow money, they will assume that you will only use that for gambling.

It's just simple.
If you got lot of money thru gambling, people will see you with a good reputation, if your performance on gambling is bad and  have financial problem, people will freaking ignore you and talk negative to you, so your reputation became bad.

It depends on what kind of environment you lives, not all people like anything related to gambling so if you lives in an environment where most people are against gambling then you will have very bad reputation no matter you win big or lose big. Fortunately I live in a village where most people thinks in modern way where they do not care about what other's do or get as long as they do not affect each others so anything we do wont affect our reputation.
