A big pool with around 1000 miners doesn't use more than 1000 kilobytes per second. So with our 1 Gbps there should be no trouble. Even a 100 mbit connection would cause any trouble. You should decide which pool you join yourself. I myself have experience with big pools. I have tweaked my apache2 to support 512 * 4000 connections at once. If you prefer a 0 premined coins then buy some coin from coingen, don't premine it, setup a thread and let it die within hours because you won't have any motivation to improve your coin in the future.
