I have had the chance to talk with Jackson on a few occasions but I have never sensed long term commitment from him.
I can tell everyone here I will never leave the DigiByte project. I am giving, have given and will continue to give 110%. It has cost me many things already, including my last relationship as well as financial stresses.
But at the end of the day this is not about me, or any single one of us. This is about the community, this is about the freedom this technology offers to all of us across the globe.
From the african sands, to the chinese rice patties and the european landmarks and every space in between... DigiByte can unite us all.
There are many challenges that lay ahead and we have already faced many of them, but we have persevered as a community and overcame many of these challenges with a tenacious veracity not yet seen in the crypto world. Its gut check time. Time to keep working hard toward the long term goal and vision.
I am very optimistic for the future, because I whole heartidly believe in all of you who are reading this right now.
Yours to the end,
Jared
Great vision.
Once again, I know I am at the right place. The international freedom of this technology lead by DGB... That sounds a great plan
Look forward to seeing what is coming next for DGB !
Thank you Jared for your sincere explanations and sorry for the scarifies you had to make along this challenging direction.
May Jared and we, long term DGB believers, be awarded along this journey.
Best,
Halin
My original post was deleted, glad you quoted it Halinyo.
Apparently certain people are having fun deleting posts on here. Even more of a reason to switch to
http://DigiByteforum.com Hey Jared,
It is really weird why someone should remove your comments... If we had to move to a new forum...
Then I suggest we create a more interactive forum like reddcointalk.org or Hashtalk.org style.
I am happy to sacrifice a few DGB for it... I think that will be great if we get such styles...
I think you are the one who leads on this... If you move, we all move...
Hi halinyo,
First - I figured I'd leave the requote Jared's earlier message ... it's great to be a part of the DGB community.
My response here is about the reddcointalk.org and hashtalk.org forums ... you've mentioned them twice (just now - and a couple of weeks ago). I'm about 99% sure that both of those forums use the service Vanilla forums. Their theme is exactly the same. I like the feel of the homepage - it feels more integrated and accessible. But, I don't like the style of the post pages ... they feel hard to follow and clunky (at least to me). But, they do have some nice features. The big problem is that Vanilla forums are expensive ... their basic plan is like $199 a month ... and as we grew ... we'd probably have to upgrade to the $600/month, or eventually even thousands of dollars a month. It's just not a feasible from a cost/benefit perspective.
We might be able to create something similar - using drupal - but it would require some advanced drupal skills (far beyond my knowledge of drupal theming - probably with some custom modules).
I wasn't aware that we were looking to change (upgrade) the existing DGB forum that was completed a couple of weeks ago. It's seems to be fine. As I mentioned then, I'm not a huge fan of the simple machines forum software. I don't have anything against the basic structure of simple machines - it works - its stable - it's widely used. If, however, we are seriously considering an alternative to the existing forum, I might suggest the following:
We could consider phpBB ... it's a solid, open source, forum software, but it also has many extensions and a few good (and seemingly easily managed) themes. Most of the extensions (plugins) are free, but there are a couple of plugins like the twitter and facebook integration (I think that's like $150) ... still, I imagine that we could all chip in and purchase that software so that we could use DigiTip directly in the forum.
The phpBB forum has a look and feel that is closer to this one (that is to say closer to the simple machines forum). If we really wanted to develop a forum that looked more like the Vanilla forums discussed above, we could probably use wordpress and BBPress ... and find a easy, good wordpress theme to manage.
As I said above, drupal also has a built in forum module ... and an advanced forums module ... and probably a drupal-based forum would be the most flexible and advanced - but it would require some intensive development and specialized oversight.
I like the idea of having the ability to add features, change themes, develop and grow. So, I like the idea of using a CMS (drupal or wordpress). There are some other options that would be available (or at least possibilities). However, the phpBB forums also have some flexibility with add on functions and themes ... I've never set one up ... but reading through the support pages, they seem straightforward to manage and develop.
Anyway, as I said above. We have an alternative forum. People post there. I've posted there. I'm not sure (at the moment) we should be reinventing the wheel.
