Hello guys, first post after long time, I decide to come back in crypto and i am going to say that i am impressed at the marketing/communication of DigiByte, i can't understand why this coin is so low value, it's certainly one of the most professional alt - coins out there.

one question, does the https://digibytetip.com/ works ok? i did tweet for getting my first DGB and got a reply but i don't see any amount on my balance yet. I am exited just installing my wallet, imagine the excitement when getting some DGB there Tongue
Welcome back!  To answer your Q. about the tip,Yes they are still updating.  Wait a few days and please give a reminder.

I follow the improvements on digibytetip.com, good job! everything looks to be in order now but i still don't see my tip Tongue

this tweet should do the job, right?
https://twitter.com/DigiByteCoin/status/584888455911485440

I got the tip now! everything seems to be working fine, one question, what is happening if you tip someone that doesn't have an account on digibytetip.com? can he open it after he receives the tip and he will instantly have his tip in his account?

Absolute security!
‘The good news is that nobody knows what my private keys are.’
‘The bad news is that nobody knows what my private keys are.’

I’m finding that in reality it isn’t actually that difficult to get people interested in DigiByte. It is near impossible to get them to buy some bitcoin and start trading on a crypto exchange though.

We have vision and in here and we act up! Grin  This is a community and we can have a bit off fun in here.

Imagine you had 80 BTC in your wallet right now. That's what? currently $19000, some people payed that for what are now insignificant BTC miners!
You then bought up what DGB you could lay your hands on in cryptsy, assuming you would do a thing like that. Instantly the price of DGB would be pushed up to 150 sats and you would have accumulated a mere 50 million DGB which has a current value of $5600 but would be worth, assuming you put in a substantial wall at 150 sat,  exactly what you paid for them! If you didn't put up your wall you would immediately start loosing lots of money as people tried to get a bit of the action pushing the price down again.

think about it! Why haven't you made anything? surely someone must of put a nice juicy sell order in somewhere along the trail that you could have made a decent profit on.

 Shocked

edit: one of the answers may be because you clicked the buy order at 150 sat and payed 150 sat for everything you bought even though some of it only cost 50 sat but people do that!
and just in case there is someone like that in here but they may not have any BTC yet or maybe they do but not enough, it does not matter. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/500-Bitcoins-/251921174478?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_205&hash=item3aa7ac0fce
 Grin

letting the price continually drop means we are not supporting it, I guess we should stand our ground somewhere really!
so where should we stand?

Who keeps selling the dgb bellow 50 or below 60?
Not that im complaining.
Was just wondering.

Is it only miners ?

I suspect that would be the 'unknowns' that have a vested interest in making DGB look less favorable than bitcoin. Keep poking them until they relinquish their mother load!  Grin

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this psyche myself... To me it seems the only person who loses out is them (the unknowns) for absolutely no benefit to anyone...

Scenario... Trader holding BTC and DGB wants to keep DGB down so he posts a sell at below 50... People buy his sell and eventually he has no more left... Price of DGB goes back up and he's lost money.. How does this benefit him? The price of his BTC has not been affected in any meaningful way, and essentially the seller has just lost money for no reason... Could someone educate me as to what part of the picture my thick skull isn't getting here?

I was under the impression it's far less sinister than that... DGB is still young and it's just not on peoples radar yet. Demand is low, and volatility the same, hence it's not enticing to day traders either at the moment. My guess is alot of them were hoping for a quick pump and dump, and now they're bored, so they're dropping their holdings at the minimum price to get out and trade something else. Either way I quite like the stability of DGB, shows promise for the long term success of the coin IMO
Sure it's all of these things.
Some people may want to move on or need to realize some cash for something and therefore sell some of their stash.
Some people want to push price down, in the hope that they can buy more back cheaper before DigiByte takes off.
Some people want to make sure that any alt coin does not become more profitable than bitcoin because that draws attention to it and increases the support for it which ultimately detracts from bitcoin by taking some of its market share.
The truth is, manipulating most alt coins is achievable by many but only a few relatively can do this with BTC because it is already so big. many of these people see alt coins as a threat to BTC in it's infancy and will deliberately manipulate the markets because they can.
There is no fast profit to be made in any crypto market at the moment and some organizations are barley covering their costs and would fold tomorrow without outside fiat investment this will remain true until mainstream adoption, which at the moment looks like everyone will be using bitcoin and other blockchain technology associated with it without realizing anything in the realms of money has changed.
Bitcoin has been highjacked and is no longer a movement for the people by the people and I imagine it will be impossible to stop this happening to DigiByte or any other alt too, when things really start picking up but it is the people who start the ball rolling and this technology that allows all of us to go and play somewhere else if we feel we are not getting a fair crack. It is also this technology that will make the world a more honest place to live as it becomes increasingly more difficult to be dishonest and get away with it! For now, we still have a very long way to go.

Cheers Jumbley! Yeah I see your point on the market manipulation... With total trade volume being relatively small on crypto compared to fiat FX I guess manipulation isn't that hard if you've got a few dollars behind you.

The ATO (Australian Tax Office) has jumped on Bitcoin like a fat kid on a chocolate bar and are charging GST for buying it now, so I know what you mean about BTC... They are treating it like a product rather than a currency here if you buy it, but if you accumulate it through mining etc, then they suddenly treat it like a currency and charge tax :/
