I don’t know if there is a similar saying in English, but in Italy we say:

Quote
A caval donato, non si guarda in bocca
In English we say the same thing ("don't look a gift horse in the mouth"), but we probably shouldn't in any language: I think you'll find that the etymology of that phrase can be traced back to ancient Troy. Stay vigilant! Wink

Apparently the saying is from Saint Jerome of Stridone.

Quote
Noli equi dentes inspicere donati

Back then, the horse was a vital productivity factor and something to care about for the owner's wealth.
Looking into a horse's mouth was usually done to see the state of the teeth as an indication of the health status and the age of the horse itself.

Probably the horse in the Odyssey and Eneyd has nothing to do with that, also because the "Trojan horse" probably is a translation error.
The horse was a ship in reality. This alternative translation makes a lot more sense and makes story more credible.

Quote
According to Tiboni, the horse was not hippos, the Greek word for "horse," but hippos, a Phoenician term for a type of warship with a curving prow.

The Ledger X is an already well-known hardware wallet.
In case you are wondering, the wallet was sporting outdated firmware, but I updated it straight from the laptop app.
Why oh why they choose to give one of the worst hardware wallets for this giveaway?  Cry
Maybe because it's popular brand, but there are much better HW options for similar money and they also offer custom branding.
I don't want to spoil your fun, so congrats on winning and receiving your awards Wink

this means that when you receive a gift, you don’t evaluate it, but you only take it.

Of course, there are supposedly better hardware wallet. Maybe Betnomi might be interested in our opinion about it, maybe not. But I don’t think it is a discussion for this thread.

Yesterday I received, with the help of @bitbollo, my batch of the Bitcointalk Community Awards.

The Bitcointalk customised poster finally made its way to a famous Italian City:

Please do not assume anything for my opsec for this picture. I might or I might not live in that city.

The packaging was excellent.
A very sturdy tubular casing. Well sealed against humidity and nosy courier.
Inside there was the poster well wrapped in tissue paper.
Cyrus provided a pair of white cotton gloves to avoid direct contact with the skin. Very nice surprise!

I didn't dare to open it fully, and I didn't want to use anything to keep it on a plan incurring the risk of ruining it.
Putting heavy objects on top was out of question for me.

I am not an art junkie, but I was extremely surprised by the print quality.
The paper is really heavy, the print has a professional quality, and it is somehow smooth at the touch. It's difficult to explain, but it's an enjoyable feeling.
The colours are vivid, and every detail is finely reproduced.
The print is quite big and presumedly best observed from a certain distance, but the finer details are well printed with a very high resolution.

I will frame it and hang it when I figure out how to solve the evil maid problem.

On a separate shipment, I also received the LedgerX.

The customisation for Betnomi is a top-notch quality addendum.
The print is the same quality as the original Ledger Print on the other side.
The print is slightly iridescent, so it varies in intensity as the light changes angle on the surface.
Beautiful.

The Ledger X is an already well-known hardware wallet.
In case you are wondering, the wallet was sporting outdated firmware, but I updated it straight from the laptop app.

Thank you @Cyrus and @betnomi, for these beautiful prizes.
Thank you, @icopress and @minerjones, for the work behind the curtains to make this delivery as smooth as silk.

Aaaand, the Ledger finally arrived!  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Thank you, Betnomi & icopress, for this beautiful prize!

Well done for going through the process of photographing the items and for providing information and review along the way so we can all have an understanding.

It was a pleasure Smiley

I hope icopress will be able to receive his items from you when it is possible.

I hope that too and I will do all I can to ensure he will finally receive his gift as well!

I take it the ledger was the item you were looking forward to receiving the most and as that has not arrived there is disappointment. As you tracked it to your country, hopefully it will be with you soon  Smiley

Yup, you are right Smiley But it was not a big disappointment, as I knew it was supposed to arrive in a few days and this happened meanwhile Smiley

All in all, I can say that I was very glad when these packages arrived. While the art prints are interesting (they can also be framed), the package from 2020 looks amazing. From the shape of it (placing icopress' name on it, QR codes, winners list... Bitcoin-related theme and so on) to what was inside it -- all these are looking very nicely!

I am happy to announce that I received my prizes for BCA 2022  Roll Eyes -- at least, almost all of them (the Ledger from Betnomi did not arrive yet, but based on its tracking code I see that it already arrived in Romania so it's just a matter of days until I'll receive it).

Congratulations to the organization, which made a set of well-made merchandising products for the event.
The idea of the box is very good, you can put it on the side of the trophies.
Very well done, congrats!

Once again congratulations to the winners.

@GazetaBitcoin @icopress

It's here, it's here!  Roll Eyes

I am happy to announce that I received my prizes for BCA 2022  Roll Eyes -- at least, almost all of them (the Ledger from Betnomi did not arrive yet, but based on its tracking code I see that it already arrived in Romania so it's just a matter of days until I'll receive it).

So there are 3 packages: 1 for me and 2 for icopress:

2 of these packages are for BCA 2022 (1 for me and 1 for icopress), the prizes being described here. Third package is for icopress from BCA 2020. In case anyone is wondering why I received his packages this is because this was his will. I will hodl them for him until he may be able to receive them.

Inside my package there were 2 art prints (showing same picture; one smaller and one really big) and a pair of white gloves:

I placed the phone and a water bottle on the art print to keep it from rolling. fillippone should be happy, because I did not use a plastic bottle full of wine and I used a water bottle instead  Grin

The art print feels somehow silky when being touched.

This is what it was inside icopress' package from BCA 2022:

An identical art print, but bigger in size, was present too. However, unlike me, icopress did not get gloves looool!

Now we get to the package from BCA 2020.

Now this package looks amazing! Look at that:

You can also see the winners:

The QR code opens the link of the topic with BCA 2020 results.

icopress' name is very nicely written on the package  Roll Eyes (And this QR code opens icopress' profile from BitcoinTalk.)

This is the top part of the package:

Now let's see what was inside (I had icopress' willing to open his packages):

First of all, some interesting wooden-shaped Bitcoin-related items and an orange, plastic, Bitcoin-related toy (?) -- not sure what that orange thing is, but it changes its shape (as it can be seen below):

This is how it changes its shape:

Inside the package there were also some Bitcoin-related stickers, 3 metal beer bottle openers, 3 customized crayons, a personalized shirt and a "thank you" message for icopress

So there are the crayons:

The bottle openers:

Some stickers (one being made specially for icopress):

Here all the package items can be seen:

This is the front side of the shirt:

This is the back side of the shirt:

All in all, I can say that I was very glad when these packages arrived. While the art prints are interesting (they can also be framed), the package from 2020 looks amazing. From the shape of it (placing icopress' name on it, QR codes, winners list... Bitcoin-related theme and so on) to what was inside it -- all these are looking very nicely!

In theory, the definition of antihero provided here is not necessarily negative, though.

I think this category must be the most difficult to vote for all users.
Because the name and its definition is very susceptible to being interpreted in many ways. It can be seen as something positive or less positive. So, everything will depend on the mental disposition of the voter, at the time of the choice.

Maybe in the future, redefining the category description can help you make choices that are more in line with the idea with which it was created.

Just watching how fun is this antihero category. Members are nominated here because of the negative connotation caused by some bad actions, nevertheless, a prize is intended for this group as well.
I don't want to stir up drama here, but isn't it funny that, for example, Poker Player voted for Royse777 as an antihero and thus helped Royse to win the award?  Cheesy We all already know that relationship well, PP's desire to cause him as much damage as possible turned into his opposition and helped him win the prize. maybe not a decisive vote, but certainly a vote of support.  Smiley

Honestly speaking, the reason I made the post was to express gratitude towards Shahzad Afzal's significant contribution to our local community on the Bitcointalk forum...

Honestly, this excuse for your laziness is probably one of the weakest and least convincing. I understand that in some parts of the world, plagiarism may not be considered a major offense, but I have never heard of it being used as a way of expressing gratitude.

This is why I followed his voting decision and included him in the Craft Master category.

Well, you've included him in the Craft Master category but forgot to remove his personal musings. How crafty of you!  Roll Eyes

I mean sorry but yes

poster 2 highly trusts worships poster 1 and mostly agrees with his opinions (and by extension, votes) and is very obedient too. He feels lazy but also scared to question every single choice of his master to maybe come up with better nominees himself, and just copy / pastes the whole vote instead plus, this way he also proves how submissive he is.

See? it was a proof of obedience Smiley

The user hasn't been banned, but hasn't posted either, so there could be a temporary ban.

Good for him I would say he got lucky and escaped this situation since he's still posting... if admin banned him they could have, since they had the reason with proof.

Umm.. seeing that he just posted below your post I believe he was not banned, or not yet. Let's see how things will develop though... If he's lucky enough he'll end up just with having one post deleted, which is not hard to live with. However, even if it will be so, I think he learned his lesson.

That's the point...I'm hope he would be careful next tim.

Now let me help you out a little about second option you gave Smiley

I'm not sure should I say thank you or emphasize the copy paste blunder more.

I remember that LoyceV trolled once one of them, quoting his picture of the office and asking him if this was how his workspace looked like

hahaha I remember...

If you want to express gratitude, how hard can it be to type it? Example:
"I copied most of shahzadafzal's votes because of his contribution to our local community."

Now you've accomplished the opposite of what you (supposedly) wanted:
OMG that's the height of laziness from a Hero Member, com’n Sayeds56 you can do better.

I apologize for my unintentional mistake which was not made with the intention of gaining any advantage. It was simply due to my laziness and I would be grateful if you could forgive me.

Just curious though: why did you make the post? Since you had clearly absolutely no reason to vote (otherwise you would certainly spend some time to think about who to nominate) why did you make that post?

Excepting the above question, have you ever considered of implications of such behavior in case dozens of users would do it? Imagine someone would nominate multiple users which would not deserve to be nominated and after that a dozen copy-paste his vote. This could lead to (1) having an incorrect winner (or more) and / or (2) to have the one counting votes spending a lot of precious time in vain, just to analyze copy-pasted votes in order to not count them.

Seriously, why act like this? For what purpose?

Playing devil's advocate

Lol!

maybe the two are extremely good buddies, e.g. sat together to choose a winner

This remember of a guy which showed a sort of office full of muslims, saying this is how they work there and this is why they copy-paste each other or use same crypto addresses... I don't remember exactly the situation but I remember that LoyceV trolled once one of them, quoting his picture of the office and asking him if this was how his workspace looked like Maybe LoyceV remembers and shows that priceless photo Smiley It could be used here, to see how Sayeds56 was in same office with shahzadafzal. (Just kidding though.)

That's an even better question for his campaign manager.  Tongue
Playing devil's advocate: maybe the two are extremely good buddies, e.g. sat together to choose a winner for each category, and in the end both submitted the identical vote. I do personally think it's unlikely, but not impossible. Wink A more likely variation: poster 2 highly trusts poster 1 and mostly agrees with his opinions (and by extension, votes). He feels lazy to question every single choice to maybe come up with better nominees himself, and just copy / pastes the whole vote instead.
