Most of the suggestions mention investing in top ranked coins. My question is, does it always work? As far as I understand, the market is vulnerable and affects almost all the coins from top to bottom. How then you determine which ones would stay ?

Even with the current state of the cryptocurrency market, rating coins are most valued.And these coins have already establsihed a good following and are actually being used transctionally like dash and litecoin. Though i doubt that there will be any sudden action for these top coins like new ones, security compared to others would be what you'll get.
I belong to the category of people who are well aware that investing in top coins is a very tedious and not very profitable business. Therefore, I make a choice in favor of coins that have a much lower capitalization and at the same time have a high development potential. I usually invest in low cap and micro cap coins. Of course, there are some big cap coins. I developed a classification system for myself. I invest accordingly. Especially some micro cap coins have very high potential in the future.
