I always search for the top ranked coin but at the time of investment I choose only those coin which will give me the benefit in the short period. So, I trade in the Bittrex exchange which coin listed newly.
I used to invest with the top coins like Bitcoin and I was sure because with high volumes every day last year, the passage of BTC prices fell very deeply once and I felt a loss, now I turn to a very clear altcoin for the short term only with a very low loss rate.
Its good to invest on those top coin. But also consider to invest on other crypto even though they are bot on top. As long as those coins are good and has so much potential in the future. And invest on coins that has real use in real world.
You should also consider the other crypto not just the top coins,
Other crypto have potentials to don't just focus on whats on trend you should also look for the other crypto that would make it on top list to gain huge profit.

almost all assets that I hold are coins that are in the top ranking position, for me it is one way to minimize the risk of investing in cryptocurrency.

i don't invest only in the top ranked of coins
then a coins with active development on the project is the big sign if the project will stay,, my friend
also a good support from the community is needed,,
I'm not just investing in shit tokens. But it has to be a clear proportion. For example, if top coin = 70%, risky coins must be 30%.
So if you don't rate it like that, you'll end up hurting if you put more money into the shit coins.

I think that the correction of the cryptocurrency market is taking place today. And most projects that do not have a final product or are not interested in society in their idea will leave the cryptocurrency market.

better have diversity in your wallets. coins become top-rank most likely because people buy them. i believe that the trust rating also contributes to this
because if we buy the top coins, then to get a big profit it's easy. because the top coins often experience good and promising price increases 
certainly because of the investment in the top coin to get a high profit, because the highest coin is sure to experience a large increase is very easy, therefore most investors invest large big coins
not all but with top coin I believe more. like the example now. in my opinion the best is we can buy top coins. because the current price has decreased considerably
Most of the time i will invest top most coin and sometime i will invest some low rank coin also but marketcap and team and growth is good i will invest.We can study more about coin or token before invest.
As along time traders. Top rank coins is not as profitable as the low one but just the risk is what is the difference. Cryptocurrencies market demand wisdom to really make money from it and one of the investment strategies people used is to invest in a low coins so that with little cents increasing they can sell at profits.
The short term traders do not rely on that strategy of investing in top ranked coins as they keep their eye on the news of the market and they start to invest in that coin which have a good news to rise the value and then sell at that time after getting the profit while long term investors invest in top ranked as they have a stronger value.
