Let's discuss amicably

I believe only my parents' opinion about my gambling could really affect me. I only gamble when I have some free time and want to challenge my brain a bit, it's not a constant thing. I usually do it on my phone, and only my friends are aware of it. If someone outside my circle, except for maybe a religious figure like a pastor, sees me gambling and has an opinion, it wouldn't bother me much. I don't think I'd care unless it's my parents, and even then, I'd explain why I started gambling if they ever found out, which is unlikely to happen.

I too am of the opinion that you should only listen to the advice and opinions of your family and trusted friends because they are the only people who wish you well. All others have nothing to do with you listening to them, and even worse, adjusting to their ideas about life is not the best thing to do. Life is given to a person once and no one has the right to judge your choice if it doesn't do bad things to other people.

It was just by a mistake that he sighted towards my phone otherwise I don't think he would have that mind to speak to me with such tune though I actually feels so sad because, when uses that comment it is generalized as someone whom doesn't have any future. Most times the misrepresentation of other people can cause a serious damage to people around where by they will channel the same mindset to you since others couldn't make an ends meets through gambling and you that is gambling are easily classified as one of them.
Now talks about your parents, well if your father was once gambler or someone who has anticipated in gambling activity he won't do any harm to you rather could likely cautioned you to be more responsible since he knew the rules and the bad effects of gambling.

If any people advice to quit the gambling,it’s your own wish towards the game.Because the gambling money which you are using for the gambling was hard earned money of yourself. So how they take the control of your action.Even though your wife or mother doesn’t matter, keep your own way of approach to anything. If you are become the gambler with the influence of the big winning from some gambler, you should overtake the position of that gambler winning.Because many gambler will get into the gambling business with the motive of getting more winning then the influencer of the gambling,he may be your friend or family member. But you should not get away without achieving target.

Hmm, interesting.
However a lot of people don't like the gambling just because of the bad habits of some crackles gamblers that have done a lot of terrible things like selling their house, cars and some important things to them and their families, others have used their house rents, children school and and lots more just because they really wants to satisfy their urge of gambling.
But looking at the whole stuffs about some gamblers behavior, have makes some people to think that gambling is risky, though it's risky but but if a gambler is very careful, he or she will not get into trouble when they gamble.
If a gambler can gamble safely, he or she will not have any problems, when I mean problems, like depts and some others.

So when I logged in, someone close to me easily peep from my left hand side and noticed that I just opened my account monitoring my games, at this point what he said is "ahh you don join dem"? Meaning you have also belong to the groups of people that gambles?

On a lighter note, I just smile and asked him if there is anything wrong while gambling or while monitoring my games and he said nothing but just that few people he knew that are gambling almost turned useless.

Don't blame them, it's because of the type of Orientation they had that is making them see gambling that way. Some parents are very strict and instead of them to give their kids proper education and why they should avoid something, they will lie to them and give them phobia towards the it, hence anytime they see another person doing it, they see such person as the enemy, these group of people don't know anything about gambling and that is why you seen them acting like a typical people who just came out from a village that forbid something.

Quote
This now triggered me to come ask here whether you cares about what people says or sees you as when gambling, I know there are people who don't know you from time or who doesn't believe that you are a gambler and if it happens that you came across such people and their reaction towards you goes other way round would you care about it or you just totally ignore them?

You are an adult right? Adult means to be mature and to be able to stand on your own without anyone and you are ready capable for the consequences of your actions. Whatever you do or want to do is not anyone business, it's your life. Gambling is a normal thing but the way people view it is different maybe due to religion which they see as a sin but anything apart from this is lack of education or awareness.

Yes if the comment or opinion comes from your parents because for example they know that you are one  of the gamblers involved in one of the casinos especially those based online then I think you or we should consider, I agree with you that if the opinion comes from parents then it seems like I have to do something better between reducing my gambling  involvement or stopping instantly (if possible), but otherwise if the person who has the income or comment is someone else especially those we don't know then obviously I might just smile a little to hear it.

All the decisions are entirely up to me and maybe if they give good enough criticism in the sense that it leads to  something positive then obviously I will definitely respect their ideas with a little consideration if needed. So the point remains that both parents must be respected in any  case because everything they do and suggest is also for our own good.

First, it is my life and not the life of another person, so I can live it as I like. But before I came to that determination, I was wise enough to first ask myself if the life I live is good and worth emulating at all. Ever since then, I have been trying to be a better version of myself so that I can even be more encouraged to proudly look away from whatever anyone can say of me if it is not nice in their view. This helps me to live a good life that is particularly responsible in many facets you can think of, which includes gambling.

But most people cannot say the same of their lifestyle and for anyone to see a gambler irresponsible might be worth it due to how many of them behave in society. Some will ruin their savings by gambling and behave so irresponsibly that they will hardly be able to have a good budget and financial plans. So, I don't blame those who are sceptical of them and the act of gambling.

Regardless of this, one thing that is sure is that there is still responsible gambling which goes beyond mere explaining to people, but let your lifestyle explain to them.

if you do think you are not troubling anyone with your actions, then by all means, live your life to the fullest. we have only one life to enjoy and try to exhaust it in all possible ways we want it. there will always be someone who will judge us for what we are not. so be it. they have no command or whatever to our life. we all just need is respect to each individuality.

we have nothing to explain to anyone if we are not violating any person surrounding us. as long as your conscience is clear, you have nothing to hide nor be obligated to explain yourself to anyone.

Ordinarily, I don’t dwell much on what people say or think about me cause people would always have opinions and something to say about everyone else. And as talk is always cheap and free, people would always talk and a lot amongst the lot actually haven’t got anything useful/new to say.
I don’t dwell much on what people say but I do try to listen a bit if I possibly can as I don’t let society and peoples opinions dictate how I live my life.
The person telling you off about gambling shouldn’t stick his nose into someone else’s business. You’re not exactly breaking the law with your activity.

they can talk all they want, but if you truly know yourself, you have nothing to hide. just live your life as it should be. you should not worry other people's tittle-tattle. that is, if you are rock solid to yourself and that you are very confident with yourself.

"Look at what is said and don't look at who is conveying it" and if what is conveyed is the truth, then accept the truth, because the most hypocritical people are those who are reluctant to accept the truth and they do the opposite, namely looking for justification and defense about the bad things they do.

Indeed, sometimes we feel quite disturbed when we are gambling, suddenly someone advises us about our behavior in gambling. Especially if the person giving the message is someone younger than us or of a lower caste than us. Sometimes in these situations we become a little arrogant and ignore what they say, even though it is the truth. We always try to find various reasons to justify the actions we do, even though they are wrong. And when we fall into the addiction of gambling, we will become one of the most difficult people to advise.

Hobbies and personal habits must be kept private !!!
you never know how they may be interpreted by other people...no action will be completely good in the eyes of others and everyone will have something to criticize.
obviously no one knows about this hobby of mine Roll Eyes except a group of trusted and old friends.
I don't think it interests others, I don't think it's worth talking to them about it Wink

Nope, I don't really care what people thinks of me when they found out that I am a gambler.
Some of the people who found out about my gambling habit ask me how often do I lose or win, some also ask if they could join me or ask me to play with their money instead since I am better than them in gambling.
What people thinks about you doesn't really matter, as long as you know you aren't doing anything wrong to other people

I usually do not care what people think about me and also the gamblers should do the same. If you win in gambling, it is your money and if you lose in gambling, again it is your money.
You are risking your own money so no one has the right to criticize us on our activities. Do they ?  Unless we have taken loan from them or we are dependent upon them (which we are not in most cases), they why they will tell us what is good for us and what is bad for us. We are losing our own money, so there is nothing for them to worry. Yes, our own family members may ask us, because the family members are very much linked with us, but not the outsiders.
I guess, if anyone tries to interfere in our matters , we should give them a strong reaction so they never try it again, gambling is our decision, and not theirs.

Happy New Year, too!

I never tell anyone about my gambling. Why? Gambling is a personal decision and approach for me. Remember that gambling, like every hobby, has nuances. Some consider it risky, others entertaining or skilled. Perspective matters.

Concerning others' opinions, I say: I believe in informed decision-making. I gamble with calculated risk, odds knowledge, and financial responsibility. Lack of awareness or irresponsible action typically stigmatizes gambling. However, not all gamblers are like this. Its crucial to identify leisure and pathological gambling.

For others' opinions, I say live and let live. Its their choice to dislike my gambling. But it wont affect my behavior or self-image. Responsible gambling within my limits and for my own reasons. Focusing on personal accountability and satisfaction rather than external judgments is crucial. You'll face different perspectives in all aspects of life, not just gambling. What matters most is knowing your actions and their effects.

If they keep quiet, I will also keep quiet. But if they say things to me, I will choose to leave because there is no point in arguing with them. It would be a waste of my energy and would have no benefit. That's better for me because at least I can avoid people like that, especially those who think they are the most right. We have the choice to do what we want. And if someone doesn't like it, they can move, or we can move somewhere else. Besides, I don't know them, so it's better to ignore them or just leave.

But if I'm in a public place, I won't open my gambling account. This is to anticipate that there will be people who don't like gambling and will say things about me.

I will care if the person who has an opinion on gambling is someone who is in a position to offer help to me, because if the person has a bad or wrong opinion of all gamblers, it can affect whatever plan they have to help me, and make them change their mind.

If it is an opinion from people who do not matter, to h*ll with their opinions.

Generally, yes- I do care what people say about my gambling habits.

I am a person with an open mind- I tend to listen to the opinion of others and try to associate myself with them. I see it as an objective perspective on their part especially if they share something that is deeply rooted against my gambling habits that will overall provide me an insight about my addiction.

The only time that I do tend to ignore some of my colleagues is when they share something without any basis. If they are strongly against my gambling habits without substantiating it with proof or any real-life scenarios, then I tend to ignore them.

At the end of the day, these people can see something that I do not see within myself. Since addiction (in general) can blur one's rationalization, then it is better to stop and listen to what they have to say about you.

Greetings everyone and happy new year all!

Okay, today I was actually out for a little business and it happens that I almost spent all my time wasted without me even having a smooth deal, but along the line I have few games that I have placed a bet and was wanting to view my games from my phone since gambling is now mobile, what I meant by mobile is that you can access your account at any place provided that you have an internet connectivity you will login to monitor your matches.

Public critisism is okay, but I don't care if some people has a say about what I am doing, there is nothing they can do and I am not aggrieved by them. I don't even ask them for any amount for gambling, so I don't care what they will say or think. People will quickly judge and insulted you just because they knew that you're into gambling, that's how low they look at people who participated in any gambling activity.
Only people who are strangers and lack understanding of your feelings and nature will draw critical conclusions and with people who only appear for a few hours in our lives, it's hard to think too much and put too much emphasis on negative emotions in their words, touching them only makes them become hungry and cling to us endlessly to see our submission. For those who have close confidences and communication, they are just people who like to joke, our daily gestures are enough for them to evaluate our dignity and sometimes gambling with them and us is also an interesting story to relieve emotions with each other

Gambling is a choice and does not define who you are. People like the person who peeps into your account will always have some negative impression about you.
Back to your question, I never care about what say about my gambling and I never gamble to the level that the same people who have negative feelings about my gambling will later have a say about it due to addiction.
I never check my casino account publicly and if I will do it. I first check the people around me if they are the type that will be understanding and if they are I wait for the right moment.
I disagree with your first words. The choices you made are what define you. What defines you others than that!?
Choice is only a path man chooses for some certain reason or purpose. What defines you as a person is how belief in yourself, the faith you have in your capacity, how well you know yourself (self-worth), wisdom, the love you share with others, how you support and encourage yourself when you're down, and the people around you.

Because choices are the result of your knowledge, feeling and spirit. and that is what you are. But I dont say choosing gambling is bad, but that defines that you love the thrill of an entertainment which shakes your adrenaline.
Yes, but 98% of the choices people make today are through the effect of society.
Gambling can be good and can also be bad but it all depends on personal knowledge about its concept and a mature level to accept the fact that gambling isn't an earning venue but a chance.

By being mindful of the level of gambling and avoiding addiction, individuals can maintain control over their recreational choices. Responsible gambling is crucial to ensuring that it remains a form of entertainment rather than a detrimental habit.
You have a point but if you gamble every well you'll know that at some point it's hard to be mindful of the level of gambling or maintain control if the gambler is not fully aware of the etiquette of gambling profitability and each gambler needs to find his/her own cause what works for A may not work for B.

I don't let people know and that's it, if you are someone who cares about what people will say then don't do it when they are present, things have change drastically in this world, we now have access to the internet, people can gamble in their home and offices if they want.

People in my country don't care about privacy when gambling, even when many old people don't look them as a responsible people but for someone like me who don't want people to judge me wrongfully I prefer to gamble in my privacy space.

It's easy to say that you don't care, but society level of mentality is different, and everyone isn't the same, it's like how the word of mouth is the most dangerous tool in south Korea, many people have committed suicide because of what people are saying about them.

If you don't care and you are ready for any thing that people thrown at you then don't hide your gambling activities, but if you are not so sure it's better to just avoid and gamble in your room.

I think the OP meant, first of all, the opinion of close people, and here this position “I don’t care about everyone, I myself know how to act” does not work. If you live in a family, then even some personal things concern not only you, and even more so potentially dangerous things like gambling.
If we are talking about strangers, then I again disagree with you - public criticism in this case is unacceptable because it is aggression. It would never occur to me to criticize any stranger and teach him about life (how to work, how to eat, how to play, etc.) because I know that this could end in a fight  Grin I expect the same attitude towards myself - if someone intrusively shares their opinion for which I did not ask, he will get hit on the head.
