This is about how do you make sure that you are gambling in full control. There are many people who are easily brought into gambling beyond fun and that is a problem for them and also for the gambling industry, because it is for them that there are limitations in many countries.

Do you actually...
- Have a weekly budget to play and do not ever go over it?
- Not ever get in debt for gambling?
- Have an allocated time for gambling and never exceed it?
- Gamble only socially with friends of relatives?
- Have someone helping you control your gambling?

Yes, I gamble with an budget. I usually set aside between 50 and 100 bucks per month for gambling, and if I manage to win some money I increase my budget a little for the next month. Usually I cash out with cryptos half of my larger winnings and leave the rest as new bankroll. Sometimes I exceed my limit and then I use a little bit more from my bankroll, but I try to not use borrowed money for gambling. I once asked a friend for 100 Euros in an casino to play more Roulette, in the end I lost it all and felt quite bad for losing his money. So now I try to avoid to gamble with other peoples money. At the moment I only gamble online because the casinos are closed.

- Have a weekly budget to play and do not ever go over it?

Yes, I have a fixed budget but not for week, for a month and I don't play over if I lose that much during that month.

Quote
- Not ever get in debt for gambling?

I once got under a debt due to gambling but after repaying it, never took a loan to gamble and had only gambled with my own money that I could afford to lose.

Quote
- Have an allocated time for gambling and never exceed it?

I'd say No as I gamble based on my mood, so I never set any time limits as for how long will I play.

Quote
- Gamble only socially with friends of relatives?

Gambling is more an intimate kinda thing to me and I love to do it in private, so no socialism involved here.

Quote
- Have someone helping you control your gambling?

No, because I'm not such a personality who needs any sort of help when it comes to controlling myself while gambling as I believe I've got great control over myself.

Planning finances is important in gambling because sometimes even people with no addiction can become too absorbed by the games/bets for some time and simply forget about money. Therefore, I have a rule: never spend more than you earn. To follow that, I only deposit money which I can afford to spend on fun. I can spend it on the cinema, new gadgets, parties or gambling. Sometimes it's more, sometimes less, I don't have a fixed amount of money which I can spend, and I only play when I get bored and feel like it.
To avoid to become addicted to gambling is a relatively easy task, you only need to know from the very beginning that there is no way that you are going to become rich while gambling, maybe you could earn money, maybe you can even have some pretty good days but people need to stop thinking that they can make a fortune by winning regularly with gambling, they must use it for its intended purpose which is just to get some fun and relieve some of the stress that we have accumulated over the week.

I'm in crypto gambling world, it's more than four years. Time to time there was changes in my gambling activity. Firstly, I started it for fun purpose and never took it seriously. But at some point I got addicted to gambling. Spend a lot of time daily and didn't manage my fund properly. Though I never took money from other people to do gamble. But those days are gone. I took a break from gambling for few months (at the first quarter of 2020) and after that I gained control over my gambling habit. No one helped me to get out of this situation, I myself controlled it and nowadays I have fun from gambling.
It's good that you are out of the problem now and even better is that you didn't require any help from someone else either.

I had a similar story back in the day when Primedice was the only betting site, I have to admit that I was quite addicted and would continue playing for extended periods without realizing that I am missing out on important tasks in real life. I used to skip my office and would make some excuse to my boss about not being able to attend meetings. But this was only until one day I lost a massive amount and thankfully that turned out to be the turning point for me and I haven't gambled too much since then at all. I gamble occasionally but I know what I am doing, and is meant for fun most importantly now.
This is what we should be aware of, I have said several times about a gambling addict who does not need other people and drugs to get out of his addiction, because what can help him from gambling addiction is his awareness of himself.

I personally don't limit myself to gambling, if I can still do it then I just do it, for now I will still do it with a more mature consideration than before. Indeed, in gambling even though it has been carefully prepared, it does not guarantee that we can continue to win at gambling, because the results of losing and winning will still involve luck in it.

Some players also believe in systems that are doomed to fail. Like playing strategies that they believe can only win in the end. If such a strategy existed, everybody would be winning all the time, but it can even happen in roulette that "red" comes up 15 times in a row. That's when irrationality comes into play and leads to severe losses.
I have those experience in dice games in a 5-8 streak, which confused me about how it could happen to me. But then I realize that everything can be possible to happen in the gambling game, and I only need to understand that if it happens again, I need to break for a while and do not continue playing because that can lead me to get another losing streak. I am glad now that I can handle myself better than before, so I do not get the same experience and always try to control myself. So limiting in gambling will be important.

Thats how most of the gamblers lost their money they didn't realize that their money is draining little by little for trying out each game so maybe if we have less money better not to do it and stay only on some games where we plan to play, this is little discipline for ourselves to not get addicted playing these risky games.
Yes, that is an old story from the gambler since a long time ago. They didn't realize how their money was gone in the casino, but if they could be wise to manage their money for playing gambling, they would not lose all of the money without knowing. I admitted that having discipline is really hard and needs practice to have a strong discipline, as you said. But that is worth doing by us to prevent the loss and the important thing is we can prevent becoming addicted to gambling games.

Yes, I only gamble atleast 5% of what I could earn every week and only 5%. Why? There are tons of investments that are way better to spend your money onto than spending it on a luck-based satisfaction. Since I only settled and disciplined myself with such limit allocated for gambling, I never had any debt just on my gambling activities. Since I already disciplined myself in overall gambling activities, then yes I only have allocated time for it, but no I would still love to gamble with strangers as you can know and experience how others would strategize.

I wish I could always stop when I wanted Cheesy but it's fun and when you have a great run you don't feel like stopping even though you maybe should.

Lol I know that feeling. Especially when you play poker it feels like you can't stop. The thrill when you reach a final table is just so amazing and the offering on Pokerstars or other website is essentially endless. It's also somehow relaxing, enjoying the weekend having a beer or so and just playing a couple of poker tables online. Tournaments are also great on the weekends and they do sometimes offer life changing money.

The problem with poker is that you are investing a ton of time, you can't just stop and walk away after 6 hours if you are still in the game. In other words, what's tempting about poker also forces you to really spend a lot of time. As long as you don't have family and kids or an extremely demanding job it isn't a problem, but otherwise poker is almost no serious option anymore.

I know that some here might argue poker is no gambling. Smiley

Oh my lord yes, poker sessions are the worst when you start them in expectation of losing relatively early anyway and then you keep going and going and going but should be doing other things in life! However, it's a great game and climbing up the ranking ladder in a tournament is just fun!

I have to limit my gambling time so as not to interfere with my daily task and not make it my main activity daily, one or three hours for me is good enough to have fun and to refresh yourself from your daily task, for me anything more than this can be considered as falling into addiction, although I have seen some people playing 4 or more hours without any issue at all, I guess it's how well you can handle yourself, I just don't see myself playing longer hours
Don't you think that the daily task of the day can be miss used by the mindset of addiction, i will suggest that there should be a distinction between these task rather than just not having something physical to use. Am such that would do many task per day and not conflicting with others, so, having these on board as a schedule will be more important in life.

Personally, do gamble on weekdays and not just ordinary days like others whic help me plan for myself and that of the family.

Gambling should be intendedly for the sole purpose of entertainment nothingless because if you do make this as a source of income
then you would be fucked up.

Gambling for entertainment is the worst thing to do for average or casual gamblers. The only ones who are entertained to do gambling are those high rollers.

Gambling should be treated in a way of, do our best to win. That's why we gamble right? It's not fun losing and we will say, we can afford that loss. Obviously, treating it as a source of income is a different story and shouldn't be the reason why we gamble.

When you go to a casino with many gambling machines, you will want to try one by one of those games. You do not think about winning or lose because you are curious about the game and want to know more by playing. On the next day, when you know the game, you will come back and you will say to yourself that this time you will win. For the first time, we use gambling for entertainment and curiosity, but then the next day, we use gambling to search for the winning. At this time, if you do not limit your gambling time and money, you will lose all of the money without you can control it.

I believe everyone comes to the idea of setting some limits towards their gambling addiction after losing some significant amount  Cheesy At least that's what happened to me. So,

- I have a daily budget. I hardly reach it as gambling is like a time-killer for me at the moment. But at the weekends when I have too much free time I follow this daily limit Cheesy
- Yes, when I just started
- No, I play when I have free time
- Hell no, it's like watching porn for me
- No, I can handle it fully

As for me, i had had my weekly budget when I played poker on SwC and Sportsbet. And thanks to my iron will, i don't need any help to keep myself in hands (this is to the last question).

But now, because bull markets and some offline activity I don't have time for gambling at all. Now I'm getting a lot of entertainment in trading and with buying low cap altcoins. Believe me, guys, this is thrilling as fuck  Grin

Simply the least priority you should put your time on because it isn't really that much of feasible for you to do so.Everything should be managed well in terms of time
and financial.

Don't spent the amount that you cant afford to lose because that will surely mess up your life.

I'm in crypto gambling world, it's more than four years. Time to time there was changes in my gambling activity. Firstly, I started it for fun purpose and never took it seriously.
Most gamblers start with the same intention, taking this for fun and not minding those loses since it's just part of
your entertainment.

But at some point I got addicted to gambling. Spend a lot of time daily and didn't manage my fund properly. Though I never took money from other people to do gamble.
The bad effect of this activities, getting addicted and unable to manage your  money, good thing you didn't get to the point that you ask
for some money / lend money from other people just to continue your gambling vices.

Quote
But those days are gone. I took a break from gambling for few months (at the first quarter of 2020) and after that I gained control over my gambling habit. No one helped me to get out of this situation, I myself controlled it and nowadays I have fun from gambling.
Your self will helps you up, but make sure to keep on doing your assessment, from time to time make sure that you are just
doing it to gain some fun, otherwise you are still prone of getting addicted again.
