Because of how terrible gambling addiction can be, that's why it is usually castigated while ignoring the winnings that the gambler can get even with their compulsive gambling lifestyle.

There's this saying in my place that "if you keep doing good to someone and one day you do a very terrible thing to that person you have been doing good to, he or she will bury all the good things you have done for them, and what will mostly be remembered is the last bad thing you did to them." The reason I am saying this is because even if an addicted gambler is lucky to win millions of dollars, he or she might end up still gambling off all that money due to the drive of addiction. In such a situation, what is even the essence of winning a huge amount of money when you cannot make good use of it?

Addiction is when someone cannot do without something, and gambling addicts usually gamble all day long, which can equally give them a chance to win a huge amount, but the ability to stop gambling and make good use of that money is why addiction is bad because the addiction can make you win and still make you lose everything within a short time.

So, in conclusion, addicted gamblers win a huge amount of money most of the time, but they can't use the money effectively without losing it all to gambling too.

A businessman creates a business like a casino, which is created so that everyone who plays there feels comfortable and safe so that they will come back again and again. Which makes them addicted when they win the game and want to get more and more than the previous one. This is very difficult for most gamblers to control. If they experience defeat at gambling, they continue playing and hope that in the future they will get what they want or be lucky. This is something very fatal how they chase previous losses and they just experience loss after loss all the time.
The truth is everyone one out there is usually after the notion of maximizing their profit as well as wins on the side of the gambler. However a casino isn't to be blamed for the addiction of any gambler as well as the loss of any gambler in a fair game. The reason is quite simple. Every gambler is responsible for him or herself and so is his characters as well as gambling habits. Gambling addictions arise as a result of poor gambling habits which the gambler failed to fix, and as a result became used to him over time.
I know wagers and jackpots can be very fancy sometimes but it is very necessary as a responsible gambler to have your boundaries and self rules to be able to maintain a decent level of discipline over time.

I feel so bother and that is why I decided to ask this question.

We keep talking about gambling addiction and how bad it is to become addicted, does it mean that addicted gamblers lose money all the time? Do you means those guys doesn't win anything at all? Can they not be lucky to win jackpots?

On this board, we are always referring addiction as a terrible thing but does it mean that those addicted gamblers doesn't win money, are they only bounded to losses upon losses?
Why do many people say that people who are addicted to gambling lose more money than what they get, it's because people who are addicted to money when they get any winnings, they will definitely use the money they have won to play gambling again at a later time, In this scenario, it does not mean that addicted people never get any winnings at all so they lose money continuously as they play, but whatever form of victory from gambling they will use the money they get to gamble continuously without stopping, so it appears that addicted people will definitely lose and lose their money because they will continue to waste their money in the casino.

And that's where addicted people are bad, especially if they are impulsive and compulsive, it will make things even worse and will be very difficult to help, I think you understand what I am saying and answer your confusion.

first of all you must clearly understand that this is a mental disorder
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK519704/table/ch3.t39/
and has some aspects well defined.

more over, if you talk to addicts, you will discover that they play until they lose everything.
have they recovered their loss? ok they start playing again.
did they win a big jackpot? they keep playing...
they have no limits, or real goals. they play compulsively.
until they lose everything... because they will play even more, and as you know... more you play (bad) more it's easy to loss.

Not all the time but most which is why they continue doing it out of frustration. They are chasing both recovery from loss and profit. Cycle starts with them betting an amount they really cannot afford losing then be emotionally affected by loss that they will be forcing the win by means of gambling continuously with the desire of getting the money back. Once they get close or win some games, they will be having desires of winning big, but loss will again take place creating a loop. Addiction won't happen or taking place if not for a reason, before it turns into a compulsion and obsession. The more an individual is affected by the result, the more he would continue doing it without thinking of its long term effect.
They lose all the time in the long run. This means that they have their ups and downs, but it eventually, be it in a period of a year or 10 years, lead to a total loss and ruin.
I can tell you a story I know from my town. There's a guy addicted to gambling here and he's a shadow of a man. He gambles almost every day, when he wins he gambles more, when he loses he drinks to forget. He had big wins in his time, wins that whole town talked about. One time he won so much that he bought a car for half the money and gambled the other half away. The car eventually needed service for which he didn't have money. He'd rent it out to people to get some, but instead of fixing it he'd gamble it away...
Well this is another reason but again will fall to the idea that we do things on purpose. Some gamblers are indeed becoming addicted because of their desires of re-experiencing big profit that they have experienced or saw from other people. Everyone would want an easy money right? However, no such thing exists in gambling. You'll just be surprised tht the reward you desire is smaller than the amount you engaged to achieve that.

Before everything else, I think that most of us are addicted gamblers... but it's ok as long as we control it, as long as we know our limits it's ok. I don't believe that people lose all the time, gambling life is full of ups and downs for all of us constantly, so we all win and lose constantly, but if a bad period comes we will experience extreme losses.

It's not so bad when we lose money if we can afford to lose it. Problems come when we lose money we can't afford to lose, so if people play with "borrowed money" they can get into serious problems.

So it's up to us (individuals), if we can control our gambling desires we will not get into some serious issues, but if we can't then it's just a matter of time before some big problem will emerge.

The simplest answer to this question is a big and capital "NO", addicted gamblers do not always lose their games all the time, or the idea that they are bound to lose all the time is simply false.

And I have to agree that on this forum, users talk about gambling addiction like it's the worst thing that can happen to a gambler, addicted gamblers to always lose, infact, many of them win monies in amounts that are unimaginable.
But then on the other hand, the reason why users on this forum talk so bad about the dangers of one allowing himself or herself get addicted to gambling is because, gambling addiction makes one lose absolute control over their own life, over their activities, and most importantly, over their finances.
An addicted gambler can win a huge amount of money, but his or her addiction to gambling won't allow him or her make good use of that money, but rather, they will mostly end up losing it all back to the casinos, then after some time, they can win again, and then they will end up losing it all back to the casino, and this circle continues for over and over again..

while they usually do lose a lot of money all the time, being a gambling addict has nothing to do with luck, winning or losing money, having a gambling addiction means that you can't fight the urge to gamble whether you win a life-changing amount of money or not. also, I am certain that a lot of gambling addicts have won jackpots.

On this board, we are always referring addiction as a terrible thing but does it mean that those addicted gamblers doesn't win money, are they only bounded to losses upon losses?
as I mentioned before, being a gambling addict has nothing to do with winning or losing money, so no, gambling addicts are not bound to losses upon losses but they most likely will be since they cannot fight the urge to gamble all the time.

Gambling addiction doesn't really need to be losing or winning as that is only the part of gambling itself but what really gamblers lose is their precious time and of course their self as they only think of gambling the urge to gamble never stops and they will find whether good or bad ways ways just to satisfy their addiction.
Since gambling is just two things, it is either you win or lose, therefore anyone that is gambling must have experienced both profit and loss, but loss is more than profit. This is where gambling is very risky because it is mostly one sided which is more of losses whenever you gamble. For one to be addicted is bad because he can gamble with everything around him and in his reach both funds and cash related stuffs. This is because he lacks self control and he cannot say NO to gamble.

Gamblers losing money will make them come back all the time to take back the losses. That's what they do as being told every time by gamblers, they chase their loss and to win the money back, they keep wagering in hopes of hitting the jackpot of their lives. But even when they get the big win, most if not all are already addicted to the thrills.

every business man have the common sense to create an opportunity where money can be coming for him, like the casinos today, they have the sense that the way people are gambling theses days, if they create a gambling company and sponsor it with good money they will have enough money and costumers. But as a business man ones you are have the money of a good flows you still have to invest them in other things so that you won't only depend on just one business. One business might crash and the other ones will still be working fine for you (if you have more than one). Gamble is a kind of business that brings problems most times, so you as a casino owner you still have to stand string in different places and you also need to be at the top.

Yes and you cannot just hide the facts. Those people who shares their stories are probably already gone through the same problems which the thread wants to discussed and since they want to help, then they are sharing their lessons so that other people will learn from. It could be their experience on how to deal with their family, having conflicts with others, fixed gaming and more.

Gamblers won. They do. The problem is they lose more money that they win. Causing the, to have frustration then they will bet more even they are losing until they gone bankrupt.

Sometimes it happens that even those people who suffer from gambling addiction win huge sums. But here's the catch: they lose everything anyway, because they believe that luck can smile at them twice in a row. But if you look at it from a mathematical point of view, the chance of this is extremely small.
If someone still manages to win a large amount of gambling, it is best to withdraw the winnings immediately and not return for new gambling sensations.
After all, the casino always wins in gambling, not the players Sad

I see so many people talking about gambling and its addiction without having any idea or clue about what they are saying. Unless you are a gambler I would say that you wouldnt understand how easy it is to get addicted and keep losing. Asking this question is totally fine if you want to understand what actually happens in gambling.
First of all, the casino is a business designed for the owner to make money from gamblers, so logically you shouldn’t expect to win anything easily. The chances of winning something significant at the very start are less than 1%. Second, when you mentioned hitting the jackpot, you should know it is almost impossible in many casinos or slots that a new or regular gambler to get a chance for a huge jackpot, simply because the casino won’t spend a significant amount of their earnings on so many gamblers that just started gambling, most of the time the ones who hit jackpot have already lost bigger than that prize.

On the other hand, anyone can definitely experience a winning session sometimes, but the difference between a casual gambler and an addict is whether you know when to stop. Over the long term it is a sure thing that you will lose if you keep playing. Addicted gamblers may experience huge wins sometimes, but they never cash out or stop playing. They keep chasing more wins or the good feeling when they risk their money, and that my friend is called an adrenaline rush or excitement feeling. This feeling is as addictive as any other drug, and that’s why addicts always lose money in the long term.
With your gambling "expertise," you may believe you're great, but you wouldnt know a winning hand if it hit you. Indeed, gaming isnt for the fainthearted. Strategy, wit, and knowing when to hold and fold are needed. Houses usually have an edge. We shouldnt forget who develops those flashy casinos and pays for those winnings. Winners, risk-takers, and money-makers are us. When you win, the pleasure is worth every penny. I advise skeptics to keep quiet and let the real players play. You wouldnt grasp the thrill of a winning streak or outbetting the odds. This feeling is unmatched, and you're not ready for it.

No it doesn't necessarily mean that. Addicts can win too, we just don't recognize them as addicts when it's not causing severe problems and these addicts don't seek help, nor their friends are doing interventions.

It wouldn't even make sense to worry about someone's addiction when they themselves don't have any financial problems tied to it, and why would anyone even try to convince that they have a problem if they don't see drawbacks what so ever. Close people rarely know even if there are financial problems, so i don't see why anyone would complain when they just have more money. In same way you don't think people are workaholics before they start to burn out.

Gambling shows differently than alcoholism for example. You can't hide drinking as easily as gambling or other vices, so people wouldn't even know if you had stopped or not, if it didn't affect your budget. It's still technically same addiction mechanism if you can't quit, but people get addicted to many things in life without having severe problems with it, like swimming in icy water. It might be addictive but it's not a problem unless it's affecting other areas negatively.

They win but it's not about that. What addiction is all about is that regardless of the results, the gambler who's already possesses addiction will come back. They don't have control anymore to themselves and what they want to do all day long is to gamble. They don't mind about winning and losing because if they win, they're going to bet back that money and if they lose, they'd do the same and chase them. So, it's not about the results but about the habit that has been developed.

Of course yes, addicted gambler are bound to looses because they are always not contented with their winning that even when they wins, they are out of greed of winning more and looses all that won.

They fails to stick to a responsible gambling structure to attain response that may not affect their personal lives, their families and love ones and so also their financial portfolios.

OP, you must understand that once you are addicted to gambling, you would lost morales which may in returns end you regretting after loosing uncountably.

I think there are 2 types of gambling addicts to be honest. Those who are just addict to gambling games and those who are risk addicts. Those not risk addicts, won't lose much money even if they make some mistakes sometimes by chasing their losses too far away and they will even earn money if they are lucky enough to win a big jackpot one day. But risk addicts will never win money at the end, because even if they win large amounts or jackpots, they will need to bet bigger amounts to feel the same risk sensations. It’s a vicious circle that doesn’t stop with big winnings unfortunately.

On this board, we are always referring addiction as a terrible thing but does it mean that those addicted gamblers doesn't win money, are they only bounded to losses upon losses?

Statistically speaking, there are chances a person who is addicted to gambling could win some money during one of his sessions, that is true, but you also need to keep in mind the gambling addict do not care about what he has been able to win in a single session, they will always come back and likely lose that small win he had from the casino, there is where the problem lies, you know.
For example, a person who has a crippling gambling addiction could loss inna single win around 800$, but in the next day, he got lucky and got a win of over 1000$. what do you think he is going to do? stop and enjoy his win? Absolutely not, he will come back in the next day with those thousand dollars and will convince himself he has managed to find his charm or he has managed to find some technique to continue to win. Before he even realizes, he will be penniless again and will continue to gamble even further, accumulating losses, that is the problem with gambling addicts: they cannot stop and in their mind do not desire to stop after a reasonable win.

Exactly, actually gambling doesn't look at or care about whatever situation you are in or whatever your behavior is, whether you are a regular gambler or even an addict, the chances are still the same, meaning addicts can clearly win in one of the sessions they do with a certain amount, but The difference and unfortunately, as you said, is that addicts tend to always apply greed in themselves, where when they have succeeded in achieving a win, instead of cashing out, they instead continue their gambling session with higher confidence and hope that they will be able to get a large amount of winnings. bigger, which in the end, their actions usually make them experience defeat again which eliminates the amount of their previous winnings.

And as you said, this is where the problem begins, where the inability to accept the fact of defeat will make them experience significant emotions and not be able to control themselves, which in the end returns to gambling with sometimes much higher risk amounts in the hope of recovering from previous losses and this is the cycle. which is always experienced by gamblers who are addicted, and the rest you have explained about the scenarios and various actions that will be carried out by gamblers who are addicted and everything you say is true, because honestly I am one of the gamblers who has experienced addicted several years ago, but I am grateful because now I have managed to recover with a method that I created myself. Winning gambling is fully based on luck. Whether someone is addicted to gambling or not, when luck is on their side, they will surely win. The reason why they always advise us to avoid gambling addiction is that even if you win huge amounts from gambling, you will still surely waste it on gambling again because you are addicted. Someone who is addicted to gambling cannot go a day without gambling, so even the money they need for important things they will always be used for gambling. Since gambling is based on luck, there is no assurance that you will winning. So, why would someone keep wasting their money on it?
