I agree the above post is very informative.  One question:  How can I link directly to my forum signature?

Edit:  I included the link to my forum profile.  Did I do the right thing?

Edit:  Another question:  I thought links could be to pages which link to any article, or does it have to be the specific "Earn Devcoins by writing" page?

To anyone trying to get started on Devtome, this is the perfect post.

I don't see your user page which should be at http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=wiki:user:oleole  So log in and go to this page and create it (top of page center link).

On your page place this below
==Collated==
*[[:Your Article Here]] - Source: Collated

==Original==
*[[:Your Article Here]] - Source: Original

==Link==
www.yourwebsitethatreferstodevtome.ifyouhaveone (optional and should point to http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_writing to earn a fractional marketing share)

==Signature==
link to your bitcointalk signature which has a link to http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_writing to get a fractional marketing share

==Tip==
Coin Address: hsghs55gf..........

Once you have your user page set up, to create an article page write this (this example is for an original article)
*[[:Your Article Here]] - Source: Original

Once you have done that, save your page and click on that link. Create that page as you did your user page (link at top of page - create page). The edit box will appear, place your text in it and save. Edit as needed to get the correct formatting, text appearance, and of course for grammar.

If you want to place any images in your article there are instructions here - http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devtome_how_to_post_an_image

Welcome to Devtome.

My pool that I still use privately used to give people 100% of the bitcoins, and convert all the other coins into DeVCoins to pay out.

But it just wasn't worth all the work of adding it all up and working out what it was all worth when only one user other than me actually used it.

If there was code for doing all that computation and there was more than one person who was going to use it, it might be worthwhile, but even if doing the math each month to work out how much I owed that one other guy only took an hour, it was an hour not worth spending, basically a total waste of time.

Even just a script that looks up how much bitcoin p2pool has paid each person since last the script was run would have helped a lot since then I could have paid everyone (aka that one guy) based on how many bitcoins p2pool had paid out. But I don't even know whether p2pool even keeps all the data such a script would need. (Historic list of all payouts to each miner.)

I have a p2pool mining bitcoins, devcoins, groupcoins, coiledcoins, geistgeld, namecoin, ixcoin and i0coin, all that is missing is a tool for paying out devcoins to miners based on how much bitcoin they mined there. I even have scripts posting the relative values of the coins for me to an include-file for shell-scripts that is put online as http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/latestrates.inc

But so far no luck eliciting such a tool (a divvy up the take tool) using bounties.

GetWork Only. 0 fees until i patch the devcoin daemon to support GBT as i cant find one out there. The fee will be 1% after my 1 week promotional period(1 week after i have stratum running on the pool) . id like to claim the bounty for it if possible.

This is nice.  After this an quarter-devcoin pool or 10%-devcoin pool might work  (25% or 10% of earnings converted to devcoin).  I guess you might be able to receive the first part of the bounty, but as I am not an admin, you should most likely ask Unthinkingbit about that.

Got a pool online. dvc.crypto-expert.com im currently mining on it

EDIT: once i get stratum and a good enough hashrate would you guys be interested in PPS?

Why would anyone ever mine at a dvc only pool and not something like  bitparking or FuzzyPool
because im working on something different perhaps? such as merged mined coins auto converted to DVC? but no btc involved

Perhaps, but there was no indication of that in the first post,  nor does this post really flush it out enough to give a reason to use it.

true, me and unthinkingbit are still discussing it so ill release more info soon in another post

I published 50000 words on Devtome yesterday, I can't see myself on the round 27 or 28 list, should I be on one of those?   My username on Devtome is matt608 too (this is my first use of Devtome).  Just curious to make sure I'm in the system! Smiley

- here is my piece of writing btw http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=walkingupright

Welcome to Devtome.

Your article is in Round 28 so check http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devtome_stats for when that round ends and payouts start. Your page at http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=wiki:user:matt608 needs to be formatted a bit. Place this ==Original== above your article listing. Also if you would like to get a partial share you can place the signature link at http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_marketing in your bitcointalk signature, just be sure to include it in your user page as per the directions.

Quote
I might do some link building to earn some more DVC and it would be useful to know which keywords I should be aiming for and for their corresponding pages.
In regards to your PM I will answer it (partially) here as I think it's good for all - link building to increase traffic is desired. The more links there are to Devtome articles, the better. One of the goals is to make Devtome profitable through advertising, and advertisers like to see traffic.

The account file is at:
http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/account_27.csv

There were 646 original receiver lines, so the average number of devcoins per share is 180,000,000 dvc / 646 = 278,638 dvc. Administrator pay is 84.0 shares, 13.0 percent of the total. The value at vircurex is 0.375 mcbtc/dvc, which works out to 0.104 btc. The bitstamp price of 128$, gives a share price of 13$.

People on that list will start getting those coins in round 27, starting at block 108,000. The procedure for generating the receiver files is at:
http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin#generating_the_files

The next bounties will go into round 28:

Well if you first posted yesterday you would have already missed round 27.  Did you just recently register on devtome?  I've only been here for 1 round but before I was put on the receiver list  or whatnot I had to have my submitted articles OKed by an admin.

DVC is merge-mined (you won't find many pure-DVC pools...).

Go check out Bitparking. They merge-mine many coins.

Probably the best guy to get for the job would be the one who actually came up with the new code aka created the new I0Coin.

Last I heard he was working on bringing GeistGeld up to date, since XGG needs it even more than I0Coin did, as in, it is even more of a RAM-pig than I0Coin was.

But maybe we can pay him to do DeVCoin next. Although maybe doing the (merged mined) coins in order of how fast their blocks are makes sense since the faster their block timing the faster they will gobble up everyone's RAM.

Maybe even the guy deserves to be on the tenured developers list, since he basically embarked on all this just to do it, that is, he seems to be a person who just goes ahead and does useful free open source development just for fun or just for the sake of doing it, and he seems to do good work.

Does anyone want a newer DVC client?  Would it be possible to fork the bitcoin-qt 0.8.5 code and then copy over the receiver files?

We should base on the latest I0Coin code, because sooner or later we will run out of RAM unless we adopt the special measured the latest I0Coin showcases that put the "proof of merged mining" data on disk instead of eating up RAM like crazy for it.

-MarkM-

Is that possible?  I don't know much but can't we just copy the i0coin code, add receiver.h, change vital stats (block reward, client name, icon, etc.) and be fine?

No, you do the full modifying of every little detail, just like we did originally when we based DeVCoin on some version of Bitcoin. Its not some copy/paste crapcoin, it has lots of little things that all had to be done, and they all need doing over again each time a new version is created based on some other coin's code.

-MarkM-

Lol... Copy/paste is my specialty!  Cheesy  I'd suggest a bounty for the entire dev team involved in this, to spur interest.  What do you think?

Current source here, right? https://github.com/knotwork/old-devcoin-qt
